Sales Invoices - Issue progress payments on invoices for project/instalment
Ability to issue progress payments on quotes /invoices to percentage claim certain items or expenses.
Purpose: Users can see the progress of the payments from their customer just from one invoice instead of sending separate invoices.
Hi everyone, we'd like to share an update with you all.
We've begun release of a deposits solution powered by Stripe to a small group of customers, and expect to roll this out over the coming months.
We appreciate progressive payments for businesses that work on more of an instalments flow is a little more complex than what will be available initially with deposits.
We do have intentions to expand on this feature overtime, and I'll continue to keep you updated with further news on deposits and progress payments.

We (Xero subscribed payers) have been asking this for 10 years and Xero choose to not listen. Tell me what customer doesn't change their mind through a progression of a job of construction, event planning etc? XERO NEEDS TO LISTEN

@Andrew Watts 100% correct. This is standard on EVERY other accounting software but why Xero don't think business owners need it, it's a JOKE!

Can I confirm that this feature still doesn't exist. It is core to my business. Otherwise, I end up needing to create multiple invoices, or a single invoice with due dates that can't be tracked.

Progress Claims
The ability to set a total order or contract value that is displayed to the customer on every invoice ir other means and progressively ( by way of % ) show invoice amounts to 100%
I currently need to do this manually and it’s inefficient. I enter the total order amount in the description and then calculate the invoice. It means copy old invoices over continuously
Alternatively a spreadsheet can be added to each invoice issue but that defeats the purpose of xero
Quick books offers the ability to progress claim
Please add it as part of Xero for all clients who have contracted work
Thanks

!00% agree with what Peggy has stated, it's NORMAL for small businesses to take progress payments. It's also NORMAL for customers to change their mind, add or delete items, why is Xero creating extra work for something that is NORMAL in other basis software accounting programs? I to do word templates because Xero make it difficult for paying customers!

This is so incredibly frustrating. We often request progress payments as we are a small business and cash-flow is vital. Our current work around is to create a document in Word, update payments (by date) and type in the balance owing.
Crazy that this has not been made an essential option. We pay enough for Xero but we are doing extra work that should be part of the package - particularly for small businesses. Come on Xero - let's get a move on! -

This would be a fantastic addition - surprised Xero hasn't already got this feature!

Still not a feature? 0/10 for this lack of functionality. How can any software company that expects its own customers to pay by instalment not create a feature to allow its users to offer this to their customers?

This seems to have been a feature request for many many years now.
Is there any sign of this? It seems crazy that this wouldn't be a functionality. -

HI Victoria, yes this has been a request by Xero subscribers for many years. Unfortunately our requests fall on deaf ears. Two options - have an add-on software that syncs with Xero (that you will now have another monthly payment!) or move to Quickbooks.

I find it extraordinary that Xero doesn’t have the capability of multiple payment invoices for a deposit, progress payments and balance payment. This is critical for so many business types, including mine. Please add this feature (which other software has already) or I’ll have to switch.

I probably won't be switching away from QuickBooks thanks to Xero lacking this completely essential feature. I mean seriously a creative freelancer, I do pre-production, shooting and editing for my clients - You expect me to bill for all of this in one invoice? Progress invoicing is an essential feature.

Critical so we don't send multiple invoices

I used Quickbooks when I first started business in 2004 and it had part payments/progress payments payments back then, yes 20 YEARS AGO 😱 and used MYOB after that and also Reckon, which all have this available yet Xero don't care!!
@Xero Team, why are you NOT listening? It's a real basic requirement for businesses to have. Very hard to explain to my customers details of their job they are being invoiced for when they can't see it on one page!

I think Xero has raised its prices 3-4 times while I've been waiting for this feature that Quickbooks has had for years. Even allowing a customer to make a partial payment would be amazing. Quickbooks has this too.

New to Xero and I'm a bit confused, is this feature available in Projects? I see this post here suggesting that this feature already exists. https://central.xero.com/s/question/0D53m00008CRWBMCA5/can-i-create-a-staged-invoice

Projects is not really an appropriate name without this function. It's how so many businesses run. It's in the book keeper version but I am not a book keeper. It really only needs to be very basic.
