Ability to make quote’s title and summary flow through to Sales Invoices.

Purpose: To save users’ time rather than having them manually input the same title and summary when the quotes are converted into invoices.

Hi community, we want to provide an update and let you know we are reviewing these ideas and have a close eye on the support this idea continues to receive.

We understand that for some businesses, a quote’s title and summary are important details that should carry through to an invoice, and appreciate that automating this would improve consistency and reduce manual re-entry.

Right now, Title and Summary aren’t available fields on Xero invoices - Supporting this would first require those fields to be added to invoices, before they could flow through automatically from quotes. From there, the change also needs to be considered across a number of surfaces, such as web, mobile, imports, exports, emails, and more.

To be transparent, this work isn’t currently on our roadmap.

For now, we recommend manually copying these fields from a quote into the description field on a new line within the invoice.

While Quotes and Invoices have historically evolved separately, we’re taking a more holistic view of how these connected steps work together and where we can improve the experience. Our goal is to make it easier for customers to move from quote to invoice with less friction over time.

We will keep you informed of any progress around this that can help solve the needs shared in this idea. Thanks

    This is a critical component. When you have sent a quote or pro forma invoice, it is essential the following invoice should match!!

    The idea that us small businesses use a description of some sort to tell the customer what work has been carried out, is crazy. Line items are as such, line items - products for sale. Why would the customer not want to know what the job was and have itemised products are services?? lets have it please

    It makes no sense why this option is available on quotes and not on invoices. I manually add it in the first innvoice line and my customers are always confused.

    It should be a no brainer to have it on an invoice

    Hi Xero Team, we need quote title & summary to appear in invoice too! alot of clients has been questioning us already. please update and stop wasting time to change the interface so often. tyvm!

    Adding a title and summary to a quotation is such a great feature. Kudos! Such a no brainer then to have it flow through with work realised and to the invoice. I raised it in a ticket and so pleased to that this product feature has already been suggested. My jubilation though short lived when as others before me, I read that it's been sitting and going nowhere for over 7 years.
    Xero owners please consider implementing or explain why it can't be.

    Would like to see this feature utilized as part of a converted quotation.

    Sort of crazy given the feedback over the last few years that it hasn't been yet.

    The Quote screen provides and option to use the "Title" and "Summary" fields that is an excellent feature. However, this fields do not transfer to the invoice, nor are they available to be included with a new themed invoice template. My clients expected the data to be transferred to the invoice as well. The feature is used as a referencing function by the clients when they receive queries from their customers, or if the need to follow up on a query.

    This is a case where a system feature is implemented in a process, which is now causing additional admin overhead. It seems if the development were not thought through properly on this matter and it would have been better in my case if it didn't exist.

    Please consider updating the process to transfer these fields to the invoice.

    This is such a simple thing for them to add and this request has sat here ignored for 7 years! And as evidenced below the original request is even older.

    I think this would be a great idea to be able to carry the original quote amount into the invoicing, and even show a balance owing after instalment invoices are paid. Having the system pre populate the original quote number as the reference and the Project name (not just the customer name) would be very useful instead of having to reenter the details. We have a customer who we have over 10 projects for and it can get quite confusing when preparing the invoice for them and us, as we have to make sure we have the right quote details as reference.

    Title and Summary to carry over from quote to invoice needed.
    To manually have to input this on an invoice completely changes the layout.

    I just don't know why they bothered with the recent updates (which I hate BTW - Xero, we is necessary to split up the sections when adding new clients??) when things like this haven't been focused on...

    They deleted the last thread on this which started around 2014 so I wouldn't hold your breath on it being done anytime soon.

    We've also been following this thread for sometime and can see that Xero is yet to action this request. Does anyone have an update?
    I really don't know what the hold up is for a seemingly simple request that will save all users alot of time having to copy and paste the project name across from the quote to the invoice.

    It would also save me alot of time responding to clients who email saying "there's no reference on your invoice" - there is a reference code, just not an obvious title because Xero doesn't support this.

    So much double up!
