Two statements, two projects, one contact
We have two projects running under one contact and it is not possible to send two different statements. I have to duplicate the contact or create a manual statement.

Invoice: Round GST on subtotal only rather than line-by-line
This is based on an actual example.
I had an invoice for around $15000 which consisted of around 10 line items. It appears Xero calculates GST per line item which is rounded (which is fine) and then for the total at the bottom appears to add up the rounded line items. What this meant in my case was that the GST total was 1 cent out where on my invoice it showed $2037.59 and on the purchase order I had it was $2037.58. The latter was the correct amount. What this meant was that this was enough for a big…

Invoices - Add a quick "Return to Invoices" navigation shortcut on post-payment validation screens
Add a quick button to go back to invoices especially after posting a payment or while reconciling. Invoices are the thing I use most and reference most but I have to go through like three steps to get back to where i was.
2 votesHi Courtney, thanks for the suggestion. We understand that when processing a high volume of payments, being able to move quickly between invoices could improve your workflow.
At the moment, after adding a payment directly to an invoice, you’ll be redirected back to the main invoice list. From there, there’s a “View invoice” link available in the list, which lets you quickly reopen the invoice the payment was applied to.
We can also see how having a more direct navigation option from the payment confirmation screen could help streamline the process further. We'll continue tracking interest and share an update if this progress.

Invoice - View full reference in Xero
Not a massive one, but would eliminate a really annoying thing.
On an invoice screen in the reference box, when typing any data that exceeds the box, the text doesn't follow outside that window. This then makes you mouse click into that box and arrow across to confirm what you have typed was in actual fact correct.
PLEASE, can something be done about this????2 votesAppreciate you raising this idea with us, Darren and have just updated the forum it's in 🙂
We'll get a sense of the community interesst in this here. While we don't have any plans around this at present I'll share if there's any news.

Tax ID Display Name in Standard AR Invoice
The rational of display Tax ID Display Name under the client contact doesn't sounds right as this is the column where we should key in our own company information.
When we using the standard template of Xero for AR Invoice, if there is tax id keyed under client's name, the field of "Tax ID Display Name" will be display under the client name. this sounds weird when I was told to amend the "Tax ID Display Name" which can be found under Financial Setting to something called "TIN Number" or "Tax ID Number" to make the display right.

Invoice payments - Only offer ACH (not credit card)
I'd like to enable one-click payments from customers when I send them an invoice, but only ACH, not credit card. As it is, if I enable ACH payments via Stripe, the system displays credit card options to the customer. When I try a custom branding theme without the credit card display, Xero will not allow any Stripe payment mechanism.
9 votesThanks for letting us know what you're tried, Roland.
We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.
If we make any plans for changes around the ways in which you can offer ACH for your customers I'll update you here.

Send a receipt of payment to a client when
When reconciling payments from clients in bank, include an option to send a receipt in the same page, instead of searching for the payment in client's contact.

Invoice list search - Retain search across lists
When in the invoicing screen why can't the customers name stay in the field when clicking on awaiting payment, paid, draft etc instead of having to constantly re enter the customer name.

Invoicing - Display customer overdue balance and available credits on Awaiting Approval page
On the awaiting approval invoice page can we get more details for each customer, like any overdue amount and any credit they have in their account. Currently you cannot apply a credit unless you open the invoice. This will save time and errors.

Invoices - Ability to send "Paid" invoices (receipts) via SMS
Would like to be able to SMS fully paid invoices.
1 voteHi Jane, appreciate the feedback here. We understand that payment confirmation is an important part of the customer experience.
Extending SMS functionality to include “Paid” invoice notifications or receipts could provide a quick, mobile-friendly way to confirm transactions. We’ve updated this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and share it with the product team.

movable columns when invoicing
When using the invoicing system in Xero, there is no ability to move columns around. It would make my workflow much easier if I could enter quantity first, followed by product code, as this matches the standard ordering format in our industry. When customers place orders, they typically specify the quantity first and then the product size or code.
In our previous system, we were able to click and drag columns into any order (similar to how line items can currently be rearranged in Xero). However, with the current fixed column layout in Xero, I often find myself writing phone…

Invoices and quotes
We do very detailed quotations that are done from our quote / costing sheets. These are then sent as a PDF to clients. It would be really helpful if these PDF could be uploaded like a bill to Xero quotes and invoices.

Invoices & Emails - Support Markdown-style text formatting
A simple solution for those that want to format their text when emailing would be to allow formatting that WhatsApp uses, where you simply add * either side of word or sentence that you wish to format as bold, for example.

1 voteThanks Eamonn for the feedback here. We hear that having a quicker way to format text in invoices and emails would help improve clarity and workflow efficiency.
Being able to apply simple Markdown-style formatting while typing could make it easier to emphasise important information like due dates or payment terms. This has been moved to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest and share it with the product team.

Invoicing - Update contact with email used when sending
Under the old invoicing, when an invoice was emailed to a client for the first time, the email address used for that first invoice automatically populated the Contact card's email address at the time the invoice was sent.
This meant that if the invoice was unpaid, the reminder would be able to go to the same person who received the invoice.
However the new invoicing doesn't automatically populate the Contact's email address.
This means an extra step is needed to ensure the Contact card is updated.
If this step isn't taken, then the automated reminders don't go out.
Automation is…14 votesThanks for sharing your thoughts and adding your vote to this idea! We totally get how important it is to keep your customer contact info accurate and up to date. An automatic update feature through invoicing sounds like a great way to save you some valuable time.
Right now, if you send an invoice to an email that’s not already linked to a contact, you’ll need to add that email manually in Xero. The current setup is designed to be flexible so you can send invoices to multiple emails without changing the contact record. But we can definitely see how this feature would speed things up for you.
This idea is now in the “Gaining Support” phase, which means it’s open for votes and comments. We’re keeping an eye on how much interest it gets from the community. Your vote really helps us understand how much this feature matters to…

Invoice reminders - Create a criteria to set based on reconciliation date
It would be an easy fix to stop automatically sending reminders for "unpaid" invoices when the business has not done their reconciliation for the relevant period. We find it stressful and time consuming to check all the time. I think sending a payment demand with the proviso to "ignore it if it has already been paid" is a waste of resources. It would be way less stressful and more efficient if reminders could be pending and only be sent automatically once the reconciliation covering the due date has been completed.
2 votesInteresting idea, Marc. This would add another layer of complexity to reminders, but it would be great to understand the interest around this from your idea here for our product team to consider. We'll share if there are any updates.

Invoicing - Use a keystroke to choose a bank account for payment
Add Payments Screen on Invoicing
We are still having to use mouse to enter the BANK ACCOUNT details. You can tab to the BANK ACCOUNT, but once there you have to USE MOUSE to enter bank account. We still have the whole chart of accounts listed in this field, Kelly has said this was fixed so I have lodged a case for that, but still not able to just tab and type enabled.4 votesHey Jacqueline, we appreciate you raising this as an Idea, however the functionality of tabbing through the different accounts you can use as payments accounts is not in the Pipeline. The option to search for the desired account is available as the field is a down arrow select option. The tabbing option is to just get you to the next field. You can, however, hit the space bar to open the selection and then you can start typing or use the up/down arrows on the keyboard to navigate the options.

tax line item
I run a service-only business that does not track, collect, or manage sales tax. Yet Xero currently forces tax references throughout the interface and on invoices, which creates confusion and looks unprofessional when tax is always 0.00. As such, I respectfully request the following improvements:
Account-level tax toggle – Add a setting for non–sales-tax businesses to disable all tax references across the interface when tax is not used.
Hide tax on invoices when not applicable – Allow users to remove the tax column/line item from invoices entirely when tax is not applied, instead of displaying a tax amount of 0.00.
