Contact Home screen Shows CREDITED Bills as "PAID"
On the Supplier / Contact home screen any bills that have been cleared with a credit note should not be shown as "PAID". This is confusing as a bill which has cleared with a credit note has not been paid from the bank, it has been credited. There should be clear distinction between the two methods of clearing a supplier bill.

Invoices - Recording if CIS statement has been received
On invoices with CIS deductions can we have a button or something to indicate if a CIS statement has been received for the deduction and then a report for which invoices haven’t received a CIS statement so easier to see who needs chasing rather than keeping a separate spreadsheet elsewhere of received CIS statements.
3 votesAppreciate your request here, Carey. Right now, you can use the CIS Suffered report to monitor deductions recorded in Xero, however understand this doesn't enable you to track CIS statements received at the invoice level.
This isn't something we have plans for atm, but we'll continue to get a gauge of support in this from your idea. I'll share if there are updates.

Navigation - Quick Switching Between Invoices, Quotes & Bills
Be able to swipe (or buttons on the desktop) - left and right between invoices, quotes etc (both for all of them and for each company)
5 votesHi Mark, it’s clear that being able to move between different transaction lists more easily would make workflows smoother, especially when you’re juggling multiple parts of the business—like checking a quote one moment and verifying a bill the next.
At the moment, switching between Invoices, Bills, and other areas often means going back to the main list, which adds extra clicks and interrupts your flow.
As a workaround for now, you can right-click on Invoices or Bills in the Business menu and select Open link in new tab. This lets you keep multiple screens open at once and toggle between them without losing your place.
This idea has been moved to Gaining Support so we can track interest in a built-in quick-switch feature.

Paste like cells
Invoicing: Paste Multiple Rows and Columns into Invoice Lines
Related request, incorrectly closed as completed: https://productideas.xero.com/forums/967115-invoices-quotes/suggestions/50923184-invoicing-paste-multiple-cells-into-invoice-line
The new drag-fill function is useful and appreciated, but it is not what the original request asked for.
The requested feature is spreadsheet-style pasting of multiple rows and columns from Excel, Google Sheets or Airtable directly into Xero invoice lines.
Currently, clicking a cell immediately enters editing mode. Pasting therefore inserts everything as text inside one field instead of treating the clipboard content as separate cells.
Xero needs a way to select a starting cell without editing it, such as Ctrl+click, clicking the cell…

Employee Time Sheets
QuickBooks style timesheets. I don't think I need to say anything further but, in the service industry this thing is gold.
It's all about how your org works but I am pretty sure no one will complain if they are able to have employees fill out time sheets from a central location and have that time get pulled when generating invoices.

Send e-invoices through Xero to Sweden via the Peppol network
It has now become mandatory to email clients in Sweden via e-invoicing through the Peppol network. I know other countries have support through Xero for e-invoicing. Please can Sweden be included in the regions e-invoicing is available for. Thank you.

Invoice Payments and Batch Deposits – Allow US Date Format
Fix the date coding to match the browser’s native date control, which presents dates according to the user’s locale while storing them internally in a standard format or the company's location.
The Invoice Payment and Batch Deposit ignore the organization's regional date settings when dates are entered manually. This only seems to occur in these specific windows, making the behavior inconsistent with the rest of the platform and interrupting data entry every time a payment is recorded, essentially causing havoc when regular users go to enter a date and don't check that it's correct, which makes reconciling harder, cumbersome because…

Xero Item Code not included in Peppol SellersItemIdentification
When a sales invoice containing inventory item codes is sent from Xero through Peppol, the Xero Item Code is not included in the resulting Peppol invoice XML.
For example, a Xero invoice line contains:
Item Code: [ITEM CODE]
Description: [ITEM DESCRIPTION]
Quantity: [QUANTITY]
Unit Price: [UNIT PRICE]However, the Peppol XML only contains the item name or description and does not include the following element:
<cac:SellersItemIdentification>
<cbc:ID>[ITEM CODE]/cbc:ID
/cac:SellersItemIdentificationPeppol BIS Billing 3.0 defines cac:SellersItemIdentification as the field for an identifier assigned by the seller to an item. The Xero Item Code therefore appears to be the appropriate source…

Invoice Overview - Able to chose default tab it opens up on (Awaiting Payment)
Invoices - Awaiting payment
When clicking on invoices, it would be helpful to be able to select a default invoices tab I would like to land on. This feature is available for Bills and the user is able to select the 'Awaiting payment' tab as a default.
In the interest of having easy access and a quick view on which customers have not paid, it would be beneficial to introduce this feature.9 votesHey everyone 👋,
Thanks for your feedback and for sharing your thoughts on this idea ✨. We'd like to clear up some confusion. If you navigate through the main menu, the Invoices or Bills pages always default to the All tab, but clicking Invoices owed to you or Bills you need to pay from the dashboard takes you directly to the Awaiting Payment tab. As noted by others in this thread, one option for now is to bookmark the Awaiting Payment tab directly from your browser. Our product teams are continuously reviewing all the feedback on the Xero Product Ideas portal. While we can't make any promises about if or when this idea will be developed, your votes and comments are essential for helping us understand what's most important to you. We'll be sure to post another update if there are any changes to the status of this idea. In…

Invoices - Set Recurring invoice date to none
I would like to be able to set a recurring invoice date to no date or none, so I could create the invoice when it is required
4 votesHi Richard, at the moment, recurring invoices requires the "Next Invoice Date" during setup. We understand that being able to set this field to None could introduce more flexibility in the use case.
We'll continue to track interest and help our product teams understand the value of adding a “no fixed date” option or manual trigger for recurring invoice templates.

Payroll - Assign employee and date-time fields to invoice lines to sync hours directly to Payroll
I’d like to suggest a couple of updates that would save us significant administrative time and eliminate double-handling. Adding an employee column (allow us to name them separately from their legal name as to protect their privacy) to invoice line items so logged hours sync directly into payroll would be a game changer, allowing units to flow straight into pay runs with the correct pay items applied based on the specific day and time worked. On top of that, adding date and time columns to line items along with more flexible recurring invoice logic - such as having last fortnight’s…

Invoicing | Tracking - don't override with contact default when copying invoice
Kelly, the procedure to copy an invoice was improved, but it is still erroneous. We have tracking category (department) recorded in customer's settings. But for some customers we issue invoices with the other department tracking category.
New invoicing does not copy that "other" category. When the invoice is copied, all customer's default settings applied to it. In my particular case, it is wrong. I do not want customer's default tracking category; I want a copy of the INVOICE with the correct tracking category. In short, the new invoice is to be an EXACT copy.
Classic invoicing did not have this…

Contact | Invoicing - Ability to set default invoice date for each contact
At present, the invoice issue date in Xero needs to be manually monitored and adjusted for each client. Since clients have different required invoice issue dates throughout the month, staff must rely on memory or separate reminders to ensure the correct date is used when creating invoices.
This creates a high risk of human error, particularly when preparing invoices in draft status, as the system does not automatically prompt or enforce the correct issue date per client. Incorrect issue dates can lead to:
Delays in client processing or approvals
Confusion regarding billing periods
Potential payment delays
Additional time spent reviewing…2 votesHi Alexi, thanks for bringing this idea to the community. We can see why having the ability to set a default invoice issue date at the contact level could be useful, particularly for businesses that work to specific customer billing cycles or contractual invoicing arrangements.
The idea is to allow a default invoice date to be saved against an individual contact, so invoices created for that customer automatically use the preferred issue date rather than defaulting to the current date.
For now, using Repeating Invoices may help in some scenarios where invoices need to be generated on a consistent date each month. However, we appreciate this won't suit every workflow, especially when creating ad hoc invoices.
We've updated the status of this idea to Gaining Support. If this would help your workflow, please add your vote and share more detail about how you'd use it.

Invoice - Restore previous single-screen upload and confirmation
In the previous version of Xero, uploading invoices was much faster and more efficient. When uploading an invoice image, we could immediately select whether it was a Sales Invoice or a Bill from the same screen. This saved time and simplified the workflow.
Another important feature in the old system was the visual indicator: once an image was uploaded and recorded as a Sales Invoice or a Bill, there was a clear mark showing that the document had already been categorized. This provided transparency and reduced the risk of duplicate entries.
In the new version, we are required to go…
8 votesWe understand that the previous single-screen invoice upload process helped with efficiency, and it’s great to hear how it supported your workflow.
The idea is now in Gaining support, so the community can vote and join the discussion. Adding details about your workflow can help the community see the value and encourage others to share their experiences too.

Invoicing - Ability to set a negative integer for default due dates
Allow negative values in default due date options.
We set our due dates 7 days prior to the invoice date, currently Xero only allows default due date settings to be set after the invoice date.
Allowing negative numbers would make our workflow much quicker!
2 votesHi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand the ask for the ability to set negative default due dates.
Currently, default due dates in Xero are designed for scenarios where the due date falls on or after the invoice date. We appreciate the suggestion that negative due dates could support specific business workflows and would like to understand more about when this would be most useful.
We encourage the community to share more examples and use cases to help us better understand this need.

New invoicing: Remove / turn off online payments option
I would like the option to remove the 'set up online payments' box whenever I create a new invoice. For companies like ours who are never going to use this function, it's irrelevant and takes up unnecessary space (we use invoice finance and our clients don't pay us directly). Could there be a toggle button in the settings to be able to switch this off?
64 votesHi team, we thoroughly appreciate the feedback we've received from our community here.
I want to share that our product team have made a recent change for the banner that you receive in invoicing, so now if you choose to 'dismiss' this it'll be permanent and the banner will no longer appear.
We want to be open that we don't have any plans to provide the ability to turn off online payments for an organisation completely.

Invoices - Add a quick "Return to Invoices" navigation shortcut on post-payment validation screens
Add a quick button to go back to invoices especially after posting a payment or while reconciling. Invoices are the thing I use most and reference most but I have to go through like three steps to get back to where i was.
4 votesHi Courtney, thanks for the suggestion. We understand that when processing a high volume of payments, being able to move quickly between invoices could improve your workflow.
At the moment, after adding a payment directly to an invoice, you’ll be redirected back to the main invoice list. From there, there’s a “View invoice” link available in the list, which lets you quickly reopen the invoice the payment was applied to.
We can also see how having a more direct navigation option from the payment confirmation screen could help streamline the process further. We'll continue tracking interest and share an update if this progress.

Bills - Always display the 'Paid From' bank account on the View Bill screen
I want to recommend that the View Bill screen always includes Where Paid From regardless of how one gets to the screen. The "Where Paid From" information is lost if one gets to View Bill froma report. I also want to recommend a report of where Payments Originate From is cited. AT present, if one hits the wrong Pay From account, the existing reports make it hard to find the error.
1 voteHi Bruce, thanks for starting this thread and sharing your feedback. We understand the request to have the “Paid From” bank account shown directly on the View Bill screen, regardless of how you access the bill. Having this information visible at a glance could make it easier to review payments and confirm which account was used.
I’ve updated the status of this post to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking interest from the community.

Invoicing - Add 'Send Email' action button alongside 'Send SMS' on invoice view screen
For a lot of businesses, sending invoice copies or reminders by email is the main way of communicating, not printing PDF or sending an SMS (not relevant sending to a business client).
Currently it's a 2 click process to get to the email screen which is time consuming when sending numerous invoices so if a Send SMS button can be added, why not an email button.
Print PDF could be moved to the 3dot options list.1 voteThanks for highlighting this improvement, Karen. We understand the request to make Send Email a more prominent option on the invoice screen. This could make it easier to send invoices without additional clicks.
We’ve updated this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue tracking community interest. Add your vote and let us know how this could fit into your invoicing workflow.

Invoice - Allow customers to set up a Direct Debit mandate while completing a GoCardless Instant Bank Payment
I would like to take our first payment via Go Cardless Instant Bank Payment and send them a mandate to fill in for future recurring monthly payments.
We have our first invoice for customers purchasing a subscription from our website set to instant bank pay, so that they can pay immediately and be given site access immediately, but they will then make future payments by Direct Debit.
Via GoCardless directly, If you invite a new customer to collect an instant bank payment, you need to check the box for the option Set up mandate (Prompt this customer to set up…2 votesHi Stephen, thanks for raising this idea. We understand why having the option to set up a Direct Debit mandate at the same time as an Instant Bank Payment via GoCardless could help create a smoother customer payment experience.
The idea is to combine these steps into a single checkout flow, allowing customers to make their first payment while also authorising future Direct Debit payments without needing to complete a separate setup process.
We encourage the community to vote on this idea if you’d find this payment workflow improvement useful.
