AU Payroll - Schedule superannuation payments
Add in ability to forward date when a superannuation payment is processed. I would like to submit the authority when I review the monthly super but have the payment not made until it is actually due, which would be a date in the future that I enter.
We appreciate you raised this a little while ago, thank you for your patience whilst we review. Whilst this isn't currently on our product team's road map, they've reviewed your comments and can see the value scheduling superannuation payments would bring. With this in mind, we've moved the status of this idea to Accepted and will keep you updated as we go.

Now that we are transitioning to payday super a lot of us have to preset payroll payments. Is it possible to have the ability to change the processing date otherwise we are processing a day or 2 earlier than the payroll is being processed so this is not ideal if we processed say monday 30th June if the payroll is paid 1st July! Or in some cases we preset when there are holidays say xmas how do we preset super? We dont wish to process all on same day before the payruns are paid. This is an important item to add into the process of paying superannuation. I highly recommend this be considered. MYOB now has the ability to preset different date as I tried it recently.

I have had clients who have also questioned what they do over the Xmas period when they close. They would prefer not to worry about organising super payments over this time, so the ability to do this would be very helpful.

This is definitely needed with the implementation of Pay Day super - our office shuts down over Christmas and we can schedule bank payments for pay runs, but we now need to have someone make the super payments on the due dates regardless of being on leave.

I participated in a Xero payday super webinar last week and brought this up. the person answering suggested it be made a product idea however here it is from more than 3 years ago. we pay salary and often process ahead of time as we can do that with payroll & automatic bank transfers. Super? nope, gone the day the code is put in so if processing a few payrolls in advance due to leave etc, will now have to attend the office (am the only employee & only person able to approve unless manually change every time unavailable) on every payday regardless of what is happening. Xero, this is not new and is critical to business operation

We run a monthly payroll for work done to the 21st of the month for payment on the 28th of the month.
When the payrun is completed sometime between the 21st and the 28th of the month, I would like to schedule the superannuation payment to be on the SAME DAY as the employee payments. Otherwise, I need to remember to go back to Xero on the 28th of the month to make the superannuation payment which is not ideal. As you are aware, payday super is approaching fast and you have made aware of this issue for some time now.
What is the latest on this?

it is critical to be able to schedule the Super payment just like you can the wages especially if you want to manage multiple clients payroll

Create the ability to approve and then delay an auto super payment, so you can set up multiple pay runs in advance but delay the direct debit of the super until the day the wages are uploaded to employee bank accounts. This would help when a payroll admin goes on leave (especially in a small business) where there may not be another available auto super authoriser.

Thank you, this would be highly important for our clients if a fix could be provided.

We manage payroll for multiple clients and often process payroll in advance due to public holidays and shutdown periods.
Currently, superannuation payments processed via Xero are debited immediately upon submission. However, with Payday Super, this will create a mismatch where super is paid before employee wages are paid.
This is counterintuitive from both a cash flow and payroll accuracy perspective.
This is particularly relevant over shutdown periods such as Christmas, where access to systems (including 2-factor authentication) may be limited, increasing the risk of missed or delayed superannuation payments across multiple clients.

Ability to future date/set a specific date for automatic superannuation payments the same way that you can set a payment date for the Pay Runs.
In the situation where there is a holiday period such as Christmas/New year payroll administrators may process payroll/s in advance with a future payment date. Payday super requires that the super is paid on pay day, however if the automatic super payment batch is processed in advance it will pay the super immediately and not at the same future date as the payroll payment. If you can select a specific payment date for payroll, you should also be able to select a specific payment date for super. This will be more important with the more frequent superannuation payments required under the new Payday Super rules and the likelihood of needing to process payrolls and super in advance.

given payday super is coming, it would be ideal to be able to schedule the super payment for the same date as the wages ABA when sending to clients, this would save time going back in on the wages payment date
I would consider this to be a really important functionality required to compy with the new ATO legislation as at 1 july -

The one thing I'd like changed in Xero. Especially important when pay day super starts.

Auto super - set up payments in advance and allow for a description
When I process payrolls in advance it would be good to have the option to process the super on an advance date as well. Currently we can only process super immediately which is quite restrictive.
Also can we have an option to add a description to each payment so we can easily identify which payroll its for. -

I came here to see if this had been suggested. We have started doing same day super payments already, but if I am running a pay run early like now for the xmas 28.12 FE pay run, I don't want our super to pay until the actual wages payment date preferably. So now I need to log back in especially to pay the super on the 29, 30 or 31.12. Also some months the pay FE date and actual pay date will roll into a new month. I would like both the payroll and super that belong together to stay in the same month. So if my pays are processed on a Mon say 31st of a month and then I load the super after completing the payrun, the Super will go through on the 31st, but the pays will actually debit to the bank on 2nd of the month on the Wednesday when actually paid. So the two will be in different months on the books. So when loading the super on the Monday it would be nice to be able to select the Wednesday 2nd for the super payment to be processed.

Having the ability to set a super pay run, schedule the timing and know it's "processed", similar to salary pay runs. Would enable better time usage, cashflow management, and continue to make Xero competitive against other payroll systems.

We close over Christmas break and I future date the pays on the bank side but just wondered when the super rules change on 1/7/26 are we going to be able to future date super payments.

Change the superannuation payment frequency for the payroll that is already filed and posted.

It would be good to be able to schedule super payments rather than have them be paid immediately they are authorised/processed. This would enable early processing (for convenience) but not paying until the due date (for cashflow).
