UK Payroll - Salaried employees who work changing shifts each week
In service industries like hospitality salaried employees will work a different set of shifts each week across 7 days. Currently I have to set up a working pattern and if they phone in sick on a Saturday for example if that day isnt set as their working day (i.e we set them up as Mon-Fri for ease) we have to record the sick day on the Monday to ensure it is deducted. But in these industries the working days are different each week and they dont work on a set pattern. Need the ability to set that the employee works a varying working pattern, and when a sick day or absence is recorded it is marked as "on a work day" or something

Thanks for sharing this.
We are also in the hospitality industry and this suggestion would definitely help us significantly.
Currently, salaried employee's 'regular earnings' won't pull through without a working pattern but as raised above, in the hospitality industry employees don't always work the same shift patterns. If we enter the equivalent of the contracted hours in the working pattern from Monday to Friday for ease (as above) and the payroll period beings or ends on a Saturday or Sunday, the salary will be reduced and we have to make manual adjustments to make up the full salary.
Obviously, payroll is always checked thoroughly but having an option of irregular hours or a varying working pattern would just mean one less thing to worry about as the salary would pull through correctly. Payroll software's are meant to make processing payroll simpler whereas the way this is currently set up, is causing us extra work and checking.
It would be really appreciated if Xero would take this into consideration.
Thanks
