New Zealand head into the fixture boasting a 1-0 lead in the series after claiming an emphatic 33-16 win at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg last weekend.
The Springboks vs All Blacks 2nd Test promises to be another cracker, as South Africa captain Siya Kolisi returns from injury to lead his country in Rugby's Greatest Rivalry. After New Zealand triumphed 33-16 in Johannesburg last Saturday, the hosts cannot afford to lose if they are to retain any hope of winning the four-match series.
Springboks head coach Rassie Erasmus left it late before confirming that inspirational skipper Kolisi would feature following his recovery from a hamstring injury. Pieter-Steph du Toit had been provisionally announced as captain, with the flanker set to make his 100th Test appearance in Cape Town.
Kolisi is one of four changes to the South Africa XV, with fellow two-time World Cup winner Handre Pollard recalled at fly-half, while Ethan ****** and Cobus Reinach start at wing and scrum-half respectively. The four players to drop out are injured duo Cheslin Kolbe and Grant Williams, Paul de Villiers and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, who struggled at fly-half in the first Test.
New Zealand capitalised on the 24-year-old's difficult afternoon and ran in five tries at Ellis Park, with prolific wing Will Jordan crossing twice to take his Test tally to 53. Fellow wing Josh Moorby also scored a try but drops out of the XV, as Leroy Carter steps up. Head coach Dave Rennie has made two further changes, with George Bower and Simon Parker replacing forwards Ethan de Groot and Josh Lord, who are both still undergoing Head Injury Assessment (HIA) protocols.
The All Blacks are playing at DHL Stadium for just the second time, having lost the previous meeting here 18-12 in 2024, but have a good record against South Africa in Cape Town, winning on seven of their 11 visits.
South Africa will look to hit back in the Rugby's Greatest Rivalry series after New Zealand went 1-0 up with victory at Ellis Park.
A tremendous performance from the All Blacks saw them turn over their hosts 33-16 in the first Test, and another win here would ensure that Dave Rennie's side cannot be beaten in this four-match series.
The Springboks have recalled some of their most experienced figures, though. as Rassie Erasmus seeks a reaction from his squad as the tour relocates to Cape Town.

South Africa have to win the 2nd Test against New Zealand to stand any chance of winning the inaugural Rugby's Greatest Rivalry tour. They lost the opener by 35-41 but in truth it was more comprehensive than the final score suggests, as the All Blacks scored five tries to the Springboks' one.
Despite the pressure they're under, the omens could be far worse for Rassie Erasmus' men.
It's been almost four years since the back-to-back world champions last lost consecutive Test matches. There was talk of that run coming to an end when New Zealand beat them by 24-17 in the Rugby Championship 12 months ago, only for the Boks to respond by dishing out the heaviest defeat in All Blacks history. It's no surprise, therefore, that Saturday's meeting at Cape Town Stadium has been framed by last September's 10-43 pasting.
With Rugby's Greatest Rivalry comprising four Tests in total, a New Zealand victory would guarantee the tourists at least a draw – and one half of the two-part Rivalry Trophy. New Zealand boss Dave Rennie, however, will expect a tougher examination than the one the All Blacks so emphatically passed a week ago.
South Africa gave up 21 turnovers and ended the game with 13 men on the field, while they had no answer to Will Jordan, who scored New Zealand's first and last tries. Captain Siya Kolisi is now back from injury too.
Team news
In response to that victory, All Blacks head coach Dave Rennie has stuck with largely the same matchday squad, with most of his changes being injury-enforced. Leroy Carter and Josh Moorby trade places, the former getting the starting number 11 jersey while Simon Parker gets the nod at blindside flanker.
Parker comes in to replace Josh Lord, who has been ruled out due to a concussion, with Tupou Vaa’i shifting into the second-row where he partners Fabian Holland. The final change to the run-on team comes at loosehead prop, where George Bower starts ahead of Ethan de Groot who also sustained a head knock.
Meanwhile, Rassie Erasmus named his team on Monday but has been forced into changes on the eve of the meeting. Handre Pollard was initially named at fly-half but has since been withdrawn through injury and replaced by Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, with Manie Libbok included on the bench once again. Cheslin Kolbe is the other late change, as he replaces Kurt-Lee Arendse.
The pack remains mostly the same from the defeat to the All Blacks, with Siya Kolisi’s return to full fitness meaning that Paul de Villiers drops out of the squad. The other changes to the backline see Cobus Reinach take over from Grant Williams while Ethan ****** starts on the left wing.
The showdown in Cape Town will see Pieter-Steph du Toit become the 11th player to play 100 Test matches for South Africa, following his teammate Damian de Allende who hit the milestone at Ellis Park, while Deon Fourie will become the oldest-ever Springbok player if he comes off the bench.
