AU Payroll - List leave types in alphabetical order
Leave types: why aren't these in alphabetical order on the leave request screen?
I have numbered them so that they should appear in the order I want them, but they appear last. It's the same in Xero Me - I want the most used leave types to appear first, but the leave types appear in a random order.
They are in alphabetical order on an employee's leave balance screen and when you assign a leave type6 votesThanks for sharing your idea, and letting us know the changes that matter most for you.

AU Payroll - Annual leave for casual employee
Xero has removed the ability for casual employees to apply for annual leave if that leave is available to them. Annual leave is part of my casual employees employment contracts. The employees and I have agreed that they will receive annual leave and sick leave.
These leave types were catered for in the past and the employees were able to apply for them when required. Now, despite still accruing those leave types, they are unable to apply for them.
This change by Xero restricts my business's ability to determine what conditions I offer to my employees. While the terms of…

AU Payroll - Reinstate order of payroll activity summary report
Sometime in the last week, the order in which data is presented in the Payroll Activity Summary report has changed from
- Earnings
- Tax
- Super
- Net payable
- Actual paid
to
- Earnings
- Net payable
- Actual paid
- Super
- TaxPut it back, please, it makes no sense to have something other than Wages less Tax equals Payable. Also reinstate the highlighted total lines in this report and in the Payroll Employee Summary, I'm ashamed to send this to my client with their IAS, it's not readable enough.
The two screenshots I've attached are…

UK Payroll - Include tracking categories in Gross to Net report
To be able to file a Gross to Net report and subtotal by tracking category. It's the only way that we would be able to report per category of worker. This is built into Sage and really important for a lot of businesses.

UK Payroll - Display pay period and YTD taxable pay on payslips
It would be great if you can display taxable pay for period and taxable pay YTD on payslips. This will help employees and employers.

AU Payroll - Leave liability reporting
We cannot see/create leave liability in our reports and/or our balance sheet.
I wonder how a true business value is going to be shown on balance sheet without this liability. To be frank and honest, it is not an idea, but quite basic necessity.
95 votesFirstly, thank you for all the support and detailed input on this idea. We know an automated Leave Liability Report could be a valuable tool for accurately reflecting a business’s financial position in AU Payroll.
While it’s not something we’re planning to build in the immediate future, we’ve seen some useful suggestions from the community, such as using manual journal entries or tracking in spreadsheets, though we recognise these aren’t perfect solutions.
We appreciate the time and thought you’ve put into sharing your feedback. While we’re moving this idea to Not in pipeline for now, we’ll continue to monitor its traction and share any updates if plans change.

UK Payroll | Working pattern - Allocate pay rate and allow multiple patterns per employee
I work for a company where our employees can work on multiple contracts with different pay rates and different working hours for example 2 hours tues and wed at £11.50ph and thurs at £11.75.
It would be useful if you could allocate an hourly rate to a specific working pattern and then be able to allocate multiple patterns to one employee

AU Payroll - Allow leave requests to be submitted using just a keyboard
Make creating leave requests functional when using keyboard entry.
Currently, when I want to create a leave request, I:
- go to the top menu, tab across to Payroll and select (4 keystrokes),
- arrow down to Leave and select (4 keystrokes),
- tab through to New Request and select (15 keystrokes),
and then no matter how much I try I cannot get to select either Leave or Cash Out Leave without using the mouse. Then, once I have used the mouse to get the new leave request pop-up, I have to:
- tab to the employee field (3 keystrokes)…2 votesHi there, we appreciate you raised this a little while ago. This isn't something we have plans for in the near term.

AU Payroll - Include Portable Long Service (BERT/BEWT/ACIRT) on payslips
If this has already been suggested I would like to add in the payroll items an Employer Expense (not a deduction or reimbursement), similar to the way Superannuation is treated, with an expense and liability account. This would account for the BERT & BEWT that is required in the building industry.
76 votesHi team, we appreciate your engagement here and wanted to provide you with an update.
There are many good suggestions shared in this thread on how to currently process this in Xero. Alternatively, you could create a bill to make and track these payments. Employees can then review their balance directly with the scheme provider.
Atm, the changes required to implement this aren’t on our road map, however we’ll continue to monitor the support for this idea. We'll be sure to keep you updated if there are any changes in the future.

UK Payroll - Choose which leave types employees can select
Unallocated leave. The only leave an employee should be allowed to create is leave that has been allocated to them. Unpaid leave if it has been created is automatically an option for all employees despite them not having it allocated to them. And thus the employees choose that leave which also requires no approval, which should also be a thing, why can employees automatically give themself unpaid leave without manager approval? So 2 changes above that I'd like implemented

NZ Payroll - Employee leave sort by first name
Can you please consider adding an option under Employee> Leave to sort by employee first name. You already had an option to sort by surname however it would be great to also be able to sort by first name. Thanks

UK Payroll - Notification for cancelled leave
I have had a few scenarios where an employee requests leave and then I have gone into Xero and there are no requests. The employee has cancelled the request, but I have no visibility on this and so I have to reach out to the employee and check so could a notification be sent if an employee cancels a leave request before it is approved? Or if the leave request was left in Xero, but with a 'cancelled by employee' status or something? It is important to have visibility in some form.

AU Payroll - Select multiple leave types in the Leave Balances report
I would like to be able to select the leave types in the leave balance report. As at today it gives you all leave types in the report. You cannot filter either as it only allows filtering of amount, employee group and units.
4 votesHi team, as you've noted there isn't a way to select multiple specific leave types in the Leave Balances report.
Right now you could run the report for all leave types, and click the leave type column header to sort the leave types together.
From here if you export to Excel you could then delete the rows of the leave types you don't want, and recalculate the totals such as amount.
Alternatively, you can select one leave type at a time and run the report for each required leave type.
We'll keep a track of the volumes of support this idea receives here and share if there are any updates.

AU Payroll - Hide Leave Balances on payslip for selected employees
It would be good if you could hide leave balances on individual employee payslips. The hide/show leave balances on payslips is a global setting applying to all employees. For example, employee moved from part time to casual and had leave balances zeroed out, or hiding Long Service leave from employees that are accruing but not yet eligible.

Salary - restrict access to view salary entries
Stop staff viewing salary information via the contact or the account code, this is a MASSIVE problem and is costing real money right now. I am sure we are not the only business for whom this is a huge problem!
1 voteHi Damien, we'll need a bit more information on your workflow to best understand your needs here, and this would be best raised with our support team directly as a start.
It doesn't look like you've been in touch with our specialists at Xero Support yet, so I'd recommend raising a case with them through Xero Central where they'll be able to get more detail of your processes and if there's any recommendations they can make to help you to censor sensitive information from your staff.

AU Payroll - Separate Leave Loading from Annual Leave on final pay
If in a 'normal' pay run an employee takes Annual Leave then Leave loading is shown as a separate line item - clear to the payroll person and the employee. However in a Final Pay run it does not show. Being consolidated with the leave sum is not obvious. Please keep to the 'normal' format, then it's clear to everyone

AU Payroll - Extend 90 day limit for payment date
Xero Payroll restricts the payment date to no more than 90 days after the end of the payroll period. This isn't a legal or taxation limitation, but does restrict the occassions where clients are paying payroll in less regular intervals (such as paying their entire salary annually).
3 votesHi team, while we appreciate the request here, considering compliance requirements for payroll in AU we want to be upfront that we don't have plans for changing the ability to set the payment date beyond 90 days.
For any employees that you may pay on an annual salary basis, we'd recommend setting the payment date 90 days before the employee's annual pay date.

UK Payroll - move "scheme cease date" box to the HMRC tab
When closing a UK PAYE scheme in Xero Payroll, I struggled to locate the option to end a PAYE Scheme within the system but found guidance in Xero help resources.
I suggest moving the "scheme cease date" box to the "HMRC" Xero Payroll Settings tab for better visibility and less confusion.
