  1. It would be really helpful if a bill could be created from the pension filing figures on payroll once you have clicked on marked as filed. (such as it is an option when you do your vat return)

  2. Ability to have an expand and collapse button for pays previously posted and presented under Pay Run History.

    After using Xero for a number of years, locating a previous pay run becomes looking for a needle in a haystack as this section is just a swamp of pays.

    Grouping in payroll financial years or having a date filter would assist greatly also.

    Hi Yvonne, thanks so much for raising this idea and sharing your thoughts with us. We totally see how useful it’d be to have the option to expand or collapse pay run history, or group it by financial year in the Payroll product.

    As pay run history builds up, it can definitely get a bit tedious trying to scroll through and find what you need. Having a more organised view would really help when you’re digging into older payroll data.

    As a temporary workaround, you may find it helpful to use Ctrl + F (or Command + F on Mac) to quickly search the screen for a specific date or payroll year. We know it’s not a perfect fix, especially when there’s a lot of data, but it might make things a little quicker in the meantime.

  3. As the automatic journal for payroll is not able to be viewed before posting to accounts, we should have the option to turn off automatic journals. Currently, we have to post, then go back and do another journal to split out ER NI & Pension for different departments. This system is so unflexible.

  4. In Payroll --> Timesheet --> entering hours for employees, there is no option to 'Approve & Next' employee, which would make entering hours easier. It would mean one doesn't have to keep going back to the main Timesheet menu when they are working through a roster of staff.

  5. I find that it's extremely annoying how you can't open up payruns and employee profiles from a right mouse click in a new tab. It would be nice if the UX could cater to this for smoother and faster movements. Also with new fixed assets it would be ideal if we could click the whole asset line rather than one tiny little link - would save a lot of frustration when bulk writing off assets. Overall it shows up in Xero in a few places and would make life a lot easier if we could use intuitive commands like Ctrl…

    Hi Rachel, appreciate your raising your feedback with us here. While I understand the underlying improvement you're asking for relates to navigation we do request to have separate ideas for the change you'd like to see in each are a of the product.

    As we continue to develop Xero our prodyct teams are creating more consistency in behaviours however this is also in consideration of user flows and roles. We cannot commit to making this change across all areas of Xero but it would be great to get a better understanding of the interest in specific actions you'd find this useful for that the team can take into consideration and we can keep you updated of.   6. The "Details" tab lists the employee's age under the "Date of birth" field.

    Having "Employed for # Years & # Months" below the "Start date" field would be handy. It would give a quick, "at a glance" look at how long someone has been employed by a business for estimating notice periods and anticipating imminent entitlement to LSL.

    Attached is what the "Date of birth" currently looks like (I've used my own name and birth year) and a mock-up of what I'm suggesting might look like.

  7. For pay frequency for an employee, it would be good to be able to change this even if the employee has a pending leave request. Future leave or unprocessed leave has no relationship to the pay frequency if I want to pay an unscheduled bonus or other payment. This is very limiting as I may not be in a position to approve or process the leave before I need to change a pay frequency on an employee.

    Hi Darren, thanks for clarifying with our support team that your employees submit timesheets. I've updated your idea to reflect this.

    If a timesheet employee has been assigned a holiday group, you'll need to edit the Public Holiday earnings line in the draft pay run.

  9. STP reporting - Super for employees with OTE above the maximum contribution base. ATO STP guidance allows employers to report EITHER Super Type L (the YTD SUPER liability for each employee) OR Super Type O (The YTD OTE for each employee). For employees earning OTE above the maximum Contribution base the correct STP reporting category to use is Super Type L. I have not been able to find how to set up the Super Category Type L in Xero.   12. Can we please show multiple annual salary on the payslip if there is more than one ordinary time earnings rates. I would like to show a "secondment wages" line when a person is hired by another firm for one day a week as a breakup on the payslip.

    Thanks for sharing this suggestion.I’ve moved this to Gaining Support.


    Currently, Xero payslips are optimized to show a single primary annual salary, which can make things a bit confusing for employees working across multiple rates or secondments. Allowing the payslip to break down multiple salary bases would definitely add a lot of clarity for both employers and staff.


    I’ve updated the title to "AU Payroll - Show multiple annual salary rates on payslips for multiple OTE lines" to help other users with similar needs find and vote for it.


    Quick Tip: In the meantime, many users use the "Notes" section on the individual's payslip to manually clarify the secondment rate, though we appreciate an automated solution is the goal!


  13. When using the final pay function and annual leave is in negative, please flag with a "check with your bookkeeper, accountant or Fair Work before processing negative leave on a final pay." Some business owners are unaware that this may be contravening Fair Work laws.

    Hello everyone, while you can currently export reports to compare pay runs, we understand the value of having this capability built directly into Xero and have been following this idea closely.

    For now, AU and UK organisations can use the Payroll Activity Details report for one employee at a time by selecting the relevant date range for the pay periods. To help prevent errors, we recommend checking that employee pay templates are set up correctly, ensuring future pay runs are consistent and accurate.

    Although this isn’t on our roadmap at present, we recognise the impact it'd have for customers and will continue to consider it as we plan future payroll enhancements. We’ll share any updates related to payroll comparatives here.

  15. Payroll report (or add field to existing), "date employee last paid".
    We have a lot of seasonal adhoc casuals, it would be good to have a column in payroll reports showing the last pay-period they were paid in. We'd use this to off-board employees we haven't paid in a certain period of time (i.e. 12 months). We don't use Xero timesheets, so it can't be done this way.

  17. Ability to change our PAYG Withholding period to weekly. Only options are None, Monthly or Quarterly. The ATO requires we lodge and pay PAYGW weekly now and this is not possible in Xero. We have to change our PAYGW period to None so that it does not show on the BAS and manually calculate, lodge and pay this weekly.

    Hello everyone, we appreciate you engaging with us about this topic. To clarify, we acknowledge support in this idea has arisen from a new requirement from the ATO that means large orgs that withhold over $1M annually to submit PAYGW weekly via STP.

    While we appreciate why you'd like to automate this flow of information from Payroll to BAS within Xero there are two current options;

    • Within Payroll settings you could untick “Reportable as W1 on Activity Statement” so your payroll data is not included in BAS, or
    • Manually remove the W1 and W2 figures from your Activity Statement to lodge activity statements for clients that are submitting weekly PAYGW.

    This idea is on our product teams radar, however we want to be upfront that at this stage we don't have any plans for developing an automation of these fields.

  18. It would be great if could change casual employee to permanent without having to terminate the employee first and re-enter all their data and have to remember to delete their email address before adding to them as a new employee. It's especially annoying if they use XeroMe to submit timesheets. Other payroll such as IMS or MYOB don't require employees to be terminated and re-entered if their employment basis changes.
