AU Payroll - process payments for wages and super using .aba
Include Super in payroll .aba export.
Why does Super need to be treated differently to the other bank transfers included in a payroll .aba export? Include the transfer to the Super clearinghouse with the other transfers so we can skip the extra steps and external authorisation process (which is just weird and disconnected from everything else Xero).2 votesThanks for sharing this idea. We want to be transparent that adding superannuation payments into the payroll .aba export isn’t in our product team's pipeline.
This is because super payments need extra information that an .aba file can’t carry, such as a member number, USI, TFN etc.
.aba files are designed for standard electronic bank payments, so they can't upload this complex data in the file format required for super contributions.

We’re also rolling out improvements to Auto Super and streamlining the payment workflow in Xero, so paying super after each pay run will be faster, easier and remain SuperStream compliant.

NZ Payroll - Ability to add a description field to pay template deductions
Will it be possible to have "description field" in the Deduction field of the Pay template? That can be changed or updated directly on the pay template. For example, to add the ending date for staff loan deductions.

UK Payroll - Ability to map Earning/Deductions to both P&L and Balance Sheet codes
Please allow mapping to any NL code currently it restricts Earnings to P&L and Deductions to Balance Sheet, we have to do negative earnings for unpaid sick/absence and a manual journal for paying Tips to our staff.

AU Payroll | Timesheet - Ability to Drag and drop hours between days
When entering hours and locations into the timesheet, if a day is selected incorrectly (for example, selecting Thursday instead of Friday), it would be very helpful to be able to drag and drop the hours to the correct day rather than having to delete and re-enter the time in the correct day.

AU - Payroll Activity Summary to show per employee
Payroll Activity Summary to show per employee, not just as a total for all employees. Currently you have to select each employee to generate the totals for 1 employee and if you have 100 employees, that's 100 reports instead of just 1.

Payroll AU: Download super payment report from a batch
Automatic superannuation>Payment batch details>Payment processing
Would you be able to add a print option to this screen?
After processing the Superannuation payment, this is the final screen that shows that the Superannuation payments are queued up for payment with Xero.
I would like to save this record in my Payroll batch for the Accountant.

Currently it's possible to generate reports for paid and unpaid superannuation accruals by using the Superannuation Accruals or Superannuation Payment report.
However, we can definitely see the benefit and convenience of having a bespoke report that's downloadable directly from an approved batch.

NZ Payroll - Allow Employees to save a copy of a submitted timesheet for their records before approval/edits
It would be great for employees to have an option to save a copy of their Submitted timesheet, for their records. This means they would have proof of their Submitted timesheet to then compare to their timesheet once Approved.
Often employers may make edits to the entered hours or earnings types before Approving an employee's timesheet, and the employee having the option to save a copy of their timesheet before it is Submitted would mean they could directly compare the two, and check any edits made are correct.

Having access to the original submission could help employees keep their own records and refer back to what was submitted.

AU Payroll - Reports downloaded from posted pay runs to include pay period rather than payment date
Every time I process a payroll (hundreds every year), I produce the Payroll reports to send to the client.
The Payroll Activity Details Report AND THE Payroll Employee Summary shows the INCORRECT details in the heading. For example The report reads: "For the period 17 November 2025 to 17 November 2025". THIS IS NOT CORRECT, and it wastes HOURS having to change it every single time.
The Report is for the Processed Pay Period just completed!!!

AU Payroll - Contractor Type for Performing Artists
Contactor income type for performers
Given the changes to the entitlement to Super for performing artists and a flat rate of 20% PAYG on the payment amount in the last few years, I'd like to see an income type for performers under Contractors. It would also be useful if there is pay item to include GST (being that they are ABN contractors who could be registered for GST - I believe NZ has something along these lines).1 voteHi Natalie. UK Payroll - Delete employees after 7 years of ending employment

UK Payroll - PAYE only Tronc Pay Item
Tronc pay item to be set up as PAYE applied only. Currently there are 2 options but one has PAYE and pension applied, the other has PAYE, NI and pension applied.

AU Payroll - Include a comparison field in Payroll Reports
Payroll reports - it will be good to have a COMPARISION field on payroll reports just like the P&L - to compare with previous n number of months / periods.
While the grouping / summarizing features are good - they are limited to just reporting on a particular period.
Hence any Comparisions are tedious to run / export and consolidate on excel.
For. eg. I'd like to run a report to display :
Afternoon Shift Loading & Overtime work for a month OR the full FY with monthly columns.

Payroll AU > enter balance reducing deductions
It would be good to see deductions being set up for a fixed amount to deduct each pay until a total amount is reached with the option of paying the deduction to a third party bank account. Having to complete this manually and keep track is archaic!

UK Payroll - Tax code update emails
I wanted to set up email notifications when Xero receives a tax code change that it can't auto update.
As I am not logged in everyday I missed the effective dates of some employee tax code changes and then cannot effect the change on the correct date, as it doesn't back date far enough when manually changing the date.

AU Payroll - Notification when a pay run with a final pay is reverted
When a final pay is created the Annual Leave is automatically paid out. However, if that pay run is posted and then reverted to draft, the Annual Leave for that final pay gets zeroed without warning.
Not expecting or being aware of this behaviour from the software, an alert message should be given when reverting a pay run with a final pay included in it, so that the Annual Leave hours can be re-added to that employees pay, or the hours should not be zeroed at all.1 voteThanks for sharing your idea. Xero should not get rid of global payrun it is a very useful feature that will make things more difficult for small businesses

NZ Payroll - Allow employee date of birth to be optional
Please remove the requirement to have a date of birth for an employee.
We have been asking for this to be removed for years, Xero recently told us it was an IRD requirement. We contacted our account manager at Inland Revenue and they said it is not an IRD requirement and that they have been in contact with Xero Payroll to make the field non-compulsory.
The workaround that Xero gives of adding a made up date does not work and causes issues where IRD send letters that the date of birth does not match that client.
