Improve product update communication with rollout windows and a "What's Changing This Week" partner update
As a Xero Partner, keeping up with product changes has become increasingly difficult. We support multiple clients and need time to update internal procedures, workpapers, templates, training documents and client instructions before changes appear in their files.
At the moment, product information is spread across multiple places, including Product Releases, Learning Central and Xero Product Ideas/Innovations. It is easy to miss changes, and partners often don't know a feature has rolled out until clients start asking questions.
Suggested improvements
- Provide an estimated rollout window for each update, rather than only the month. It doesn't need to be an exact date — something like "Week commencing 12 October" or "2–5 October" would give partners enough notice to prepare.
- Add a "What's Changing This Week" section that lists the features expected to roll out over the next 7 days, along with any updates that have been delayed or rescheduled.
- Create one central monthly product updates page that combines Product Releases, Learning Central updates and relevant Product Ideas/Innovations in a single location.
- Send partners one monthly email summarising upcoming changes, with links to the relevant articles and the estimated rollout windows.
Why this matters
Partners are the first point of support when Xero changes. We need time to review updates, adjust procedures, communicate changes to clients and update training materials before those changes reach live client files.
Having a monthly overview plus a simple "What's Changing This Week" update would help partners stay ahead of changes instead of constantly reacting after features have already appeared. It would reduce confusion for clients, reduce support requests and make it much easier for partners to keep their businesses aligned with Xero's ongoing product updates.
