  1. Feedback - Projects: Reporting - Bills assigned to a Project

    This is providing feedback on the new feature released in response to

    Unfortunately, the issue has been closed for comments - which seems strange as this feature release is clearly a start and not the end of the road for this topic.

    My feedback: Thanks for shipping this new feature. It is a good start, but only a start.

    1. Most businesses have a large number of suppliers (& bills) that are overheads related and not project related. As such, these need to be omitted from the view to useful…

    Thanks Daniel, and really appreciate your feedback in relation to the recent release and update of the idea you've linked - Feedback you share on our Status updates also get back to the teams involved so they've received your comments there too!

    Not meaning to cut the curb the conversation, but we do sometimes need to make tough decisions of when to change the status of an idea.

    It's great to get a fresh sense and understanding of interest in further improvements to this feature that our Projects product team can consider development for. 

    I've slightly amended the title of your idea to reflect the abilities to search and filter within this view and it's really good to have this detail from you of the specific fields and ways in which you'd make use of this change.

  2. Some integrations require firms to have XPM for their practice manager software. Xero blue synchs with XPM but Xero Projects does not - which presents a real issue when trying to use XPM integrations like FYI

  5. If im in a project and i start the timer i still have to tell it which project im timing (find or choose a project) Seems logical for it to automatically populate the field with the project im currently in...

  6. It would be really helpful to be able to add yes / no, to do / complete or custom field options to tasks rather than time. Not all tasks get billed for the time spent, but all tasks have to be completed. Being able to check them off would be great. IF you can then have Job / Project templates even better, as a project can be created with these already on there

  7. For all Xero Projects expenses, the only way to add the Expense name is to add a description for each expense. When we're tracking spend monies, receipts & invoices, this is a time consuming/ inefficient process. It would be ideal for the project expense to simply show the supplier name (when there's no description field added).

  8. Sometimes time entries change, and there's no record of when or how..
    please includes history notes on time entries - or capture in the advanced activity section, history and notes, information on when time entries are entered &/or changed.

  9. In Xero Projects --> Time it will show "Deadline 31 May 2024 80 days to go"

    Instead could it show "56 days elapsed and 80 days to go", or a percentage of the days elapsed to give it a scale the same way the invoiced and timesheeted hours headings do.

    You could treat the first day as the first time entry on the project, so no need to add a field to manually set the project start date.

  11. Ability to be able to create your own custom project report in Projects. For example being able to create a report using the fields in both the Project Details report and the Project Financials report.

    Also the ability to ability to amend the current reports in the format you want and then to save them to customs reports as you can do with other reporting.

    • Create a budget for each project and then integrate the budgets to the company's overall budget.
    • Provide variance report for each project
    • Provide variance report for all the projects together

  12. XERO Projects could do with a massive update!

    Similar to the main dashboard XERO Projects could also do with a dashboard where you can see a quick overview of what is due in the coming weeks, what is overdue, what is assigned to me, or what is assigned to staff I manage. What projects are in draft status and what projects are 'in progress'. Projects with amounts that need to be invoiced and projects where allocated hours to tasks have been exceeded or amounts allocated to estimated expenses have exceeded.

    In other words a dashboard that gives a nice visual…

    Aaah I see, thanks for the clarification, Emma. Understand the difference between what you can get with the existing reports and what you're in need of. 

    I've shared with our Projects team. We're continuing to add Projects and while there's no plans at present I'll let you know if anything surrounding this is explored we'll share with you here. 🙂 

  13. We have projects in Xero that estimated expenses in USD and AUD, but at the moment we are not able to set up tracked expenses in just our general currency (AUD).

  14. Right now there’s no functionality in Xero Projects to transfer or "reallocate" funds from one Project to another.

    As a charity, from time-to-time we need to reallocate funds from one project to another (for example if we have not received enough money to complete a particular project we reallocate the funds assigned to that project to a similar one to honor our donor's preferences).

    I have tried looking in Manual Journals but there is no option there either. The only option I can find is to locate each invoice or "receive money" and change the project allocation. This is tedious…

  15. I am trying to add a list of inventory items to a project quickly, to estimate cost, is there an easy way to upload an excel sheet with all the inventory items & quantities?

    I need to add multiple items like over 60 each with their own quantity... Can I upload a list? Instead of individual listing?

  16. Xero Projects seems a bit backwards to me, you create project then can create or link a quote. It would be far better if you could create a a project from an accepted quote.
    ie. Quote customer for job > Customer accepts quote > Mark quote as accepted and create project.

  17. It seems like a ridiculous hack to have to duplicate tasks for various staff members or charge out rates. eg TASK1(apprentice), TASK1(trade assistant), TASK1(Tradesman)...TASK2(apprentice) ...and so on.

    The inability to organise 'tasks' into groups/ headings within a project is another obvious flaw and means that 'tasks' could functionally only really be used as 'major cost centres' rather than granular tasks, but even at a very top level breakdown, having those 'tasks' would get unwieldy very quickly.

    I know that Xero Projects is a light weight add on, but that is also part of its appeal. So many other offerings eg.…

  18. in Projects, you only have 3 options as tabs, Draft, in progress or closed, it would be great if i could create more tabs. (on proof to customer, waiting on customer artwork, etc)

  19. You are currently unable to see the projects within the contacts tab against a contact within Xero.
    This would be really helpful as I have some customers that have several projects on the go at one time. This would make it easier to go from one project to another for one client. It would also be a quick reference location. The added quotes, invoices and credit notes added to the contact has been a great step in simplifying contact management - the project listing would complete the loop.
