    Unfortunately, the issue has been closed for comments - which seems strange as this feature release is clearly a start and not the end of the road for this topic.

    My feedback: Thanks for shipping this new feature. It is a good start, but only a start.

    1. Most businesses have a large number of suppliers (& bills) that are overheads related and not project related. As such, these need to be omitted from the view to useful…

    Thanks Daniel, and really appreciate your feedback in relation to the recent release and update of the idea you've linked - Feedback you share on our Status updates also get back to the teams involved so they've received your comments there too!

    Not meaning to cut the curb the conversation, but we do sometimes need to make tough decisions of when to change the status of an idea.

    It's great to get a fresh sense and understanding of interest in further improvements to this feature that our Projects product team can consider development for. 

    I've slightly amended the title of your idea to reflect the abilities to search and filter within this view and it's really good to have this detail from you of the specific fields and ways in which you'd make use of this change.

  3. Sometimes time entries change, and there's no record of when or how..
    please includes history notes on time entries - or capture in the advanced activity section, history and notes, information on when time entries are entered &/or changed.

  4. Ability to be able to create your own custom project report in Projects. For example being able to create a report using the fields in both the Project Details report and the Project Financials report.

    Also the ability to ability to amend the current reports in the format you want and then to save them to customs reports as you can do with other reporting.

    • Create a budget for each project and then integrate the budgets to the company's overall budget.
    • Provide variance report for each project

  5. I am trying to add a list of inventory items to a project quickly, to estimate cost, is there an easy way to upload an excel sheet with all the inventory items & quantities?

    I need to add multiple items like over 60 each with their own quantity... Can I upload a list? Instead of individual listing?

  6. Right now there’s no functionality in Xero Projects to transfer or "reallocate" funds from one Project to another.

    As a charity, from time-to-time we need to reallocate funds from one project to another (for example if we have not received enough money to complete a particular project we reallocate the funds assigned to that project to a similar one to honor our donor's preferences).

    I have tried looking in Manual Journals but there is no option there either. The only option I can find is to locate each invoice or "receive money" and change the project allocation. This is tedious…

  7. XERO Projects could do with a massive update!

    Similar to the main dashboard XERO Projects could also do with a dashboard where you can see a quick overview of what is due in the coming weeks, what is overdue, what is assigned to me, or what is assigned to staff I manage. What projects are in draft status and what projects are 'in progress'. Projects with amounts that need to be invoiced and projects where allocated hours to tasks have been exceeded or amounts allocated to estimated expenses have exceeded.

    In other words a dashboard that gives a nice visual…

    Aaah I see, thanks for the clarification, Emma. Understand the difference between what you can get with the existing reports and what you're in need of. 

    I've shared with our Projects team. We're continuing to add Projects and while there's no plans at present I'll let you know if anything surrounding this is explored we'll share with you here. 🙂 

  8. We have projects in Xero that estimated expenses in USD and AUD, but at the moment we are not able to set up tracked expenses in just our general currency (AUD).

  9. Xero Projects seems a bit backwards to me, you create project then can create or link a quote. It would be far better if you could create a a project from an accepted quote.
    ie. Quote customer for job > Customer accepts quote > Mark quote as accepted and create project.

  10. in Projects, you only have 3 options as tabs, Draft, in progress or closed, it would be great if i could create more tabs. (on proof to customer, waiting on customer artwork, etc)

  11. You are currently unable to see the projects within the contacts tab against a contact within Xero.
    This would be really helpful as I have some customers that have several projects on the go at one time. This would make it easier to go from one project to another for one client. It would also be a quick reference location. The added quotes, invoices and credit notes added to the contact has been a great step in simplifying contact management - the project listing would complete the loop.

  13. It would be excellent if employees could add the time used in a project to their timesheet via Xero Me.

    They have the assign project/s showing in their timesheet where they can add the hours used on it.

    For example:
    Monday
    Ordinary hours- Idea court project: 4.5h
    Ordinary hours- Flower street project: 3h

    Tuesday
    Ordinary hours- Idea court project: 7.5h

    Wednesday
    Ordinary hours- Flower street project: 5h
    Ordinary hours- Cloud avenue project 2.5h

    And so on. Then of there is overtime they could add that as same way then the ordinary hours.
    Also when the assigned employee adds the hours…

  14. We need to know Potential Gross Profit when Quoting ( Obviously ! ).
    Potential Gross Profit = Estimated Charge minus Estimated Cost.

    I understand that Project Details reports and Project Summary reports require Time Spent to be entered or an Invoice to be generated before Gross Profit can be shown.

    But for Quotes we do not wish to generate an Invoice or record Time Spent, because a Quote is not a Project until it is awarded/won and does not require an Invoice until the Project is complete.

    Please can we have the capability to look at Potential Gross Profit equals…

  15. Adding staff working on a project without giving them access to Xero.

    There is absolutely not need for staff to have access to Xero for me to log that they have worked on a project for 8 hours at £xx rate per hour.

    I don't want to add this information to the ledger as the staff are payrolled so I cannot enter this as an expense but I would like to diarise time against the project so profitability can be calculated.

  16. Allocation to Projects

    Can a feature please be added where a recurring bill is allocated to a project on set up? At present this can only be done manually after the recurring transaction has been created. We have over 100 recurring bills per month where we'll have to do this manually month-on-month in perpetuity.

  17. Projects is configured to only allow the reporting currency to be used in setting rates or quotes.
    It would be great to allow the user to select the quote currency.

  19. The ability to bulk update staff charge out rates in Project Tasks. Running many projects and therefore many many in progress tasks. Needing to duplicate a task and create a new charge rate is both tedious and cumbersome. Unless you export to excel and manually change data, you are unable to get an accurate snap shot of the financial status of the project as charge out rates are outdated. Currently when exporting invoices, I am needing to individually update staff rates to reflect the current times.
