NZ Tax - Ability to add manual transactions to NZ tax return (eg. expected penalty)
Please can you make it possible to add manual transactions to the "tax statement" that will show up in the tax return.
We often did this with MYOB, eg. adding a penalty that we know will be charged after the tax return has been filed, or changing a late filing penalty from $50 to $250 if the client's income is more than $100k (as this will be updated at IRD after the return is filed).
At the moment it looks like we can only edit the pdf which is very disappointing...
6 votesThanks for adding this request to our Ideas Kathryn. We have looked at this with current NZ Tax compliance in mind and for transparency this is not something we are looking into at this time. We appreciate it is something others may see as beneficial so other users are able to vote in this.

BAS Installment Activity Statement - ability to unlock and load, and complete before due date for selected clients
Ability to complete activity statements before the end of quarter, or at least be able to unlock and load IAS's of select clients that we know have zero balances to submit.
1 voteHi Tania, thanks for sharing this idea. We appreciate you explaining how early submission of activity statements could streamline your workflow, especially for clients with zero balances. As you know, at the moment, Xero only supports lodging activity statements for the periods as they’re issued by the ATO, and we process statements in order to align with those obligations. This approach follows ATO-provided due dates and period availability, which are fixed by the ATO and surfaced in Xero to help you stay compliant. This idea has been moved to not in Pipeline as this is not something we are looking at currently. The Idea will be open for votes though and we will keep monitoring it. Thanks again for taking the time to share your suggestion with us and the community.

Secretarial Functionality - Beneficial Ownership
Put all CIPC related applications in a separate secretarial Application. Beneficial Ownership has nothing to do with Tax, and I don't do tax so can't use Gatekeeper but I advertise Beneficial Ownership a lot and use a good, priced Beneficial Ownership submission to get my foot in the door and then try sell the client on Xero. You could also look at submitting Annual Returns to CIPC out of Xero as you have the clients Company registration number as well as their turnover.
1 voteHi John, thanks for bringing this idea to us. We appreciate the explanation of how beneficial ownership submissions fit into your business approach. However, this suggestion and it's now marked as Not in pipeline, which means it isn't on the foreseeable roadmap at this time. We'll keep this idea open for votes so we can continue to gauge community interest. Thanks again for contributing to the conversation 🙏.

AU Tax - Automatic filing
Why can't Xero automatically file signed returns once the client has signed the document? Should be a fairly simple update for Xero to manage automatic filing instead of a person having to tick all and click file. Has this ever been considered? Knowing the suspend date is used to hold back a lodgement.
2 votesWe understand you are interested in a return filing automatically with ATO once your client has signed the return. For now, the process remains that a partner needs to click 'File' in Xero Tax after the client has completed their e-signature. This is because the client-signing process happens through a Portal and not in Xero Tax,, and the final action of lodging the return is designed to be a deliberate, conscious step taken by the practice. We have no immediate plans to change this workflow. The current separation of the signing and filing steps is an intentional part of our design, ensuring the final lodgment is a secure and authorised action from the tax agent.

Xero Sign - Automated Notification of Xero sign Bundle Expiry
Automated reminder for Xero Sign Bundle expiration
I have just been caught out again with expiry of unused transactions in my signing pack of 150. Instead of being cut off at expiry date or having to remember to go and look it up could there just be an automated reminder. Also, for us small sole traders it would be great to have smaller bundles than 150, even 50 at a time. Even better, why not let us use all of our transactions we have paid for. Still need an automated message that they have expired.1 voteHi Angela, thanks for letting us know an automated reminder for your Xero Sign bundles would be a huge help, and we really appreciate you bringing this idea to our attention. For now, the best way to stay on top of your usage is to manually check your remaining transactions and the expiry date in Xero HQ > Xero Sign. A good workaround is to set up your own calendar reminder 🗓️ to check in on your bundle regularly. This will help you avoid any last-minute surprises. Right now, an automated notification for expiring Xero Sign bundles isn't on our immediate roadmap. However, your feedback is incredibly valuable and helps us understand which features are most important to you. We'll be sure to keep you in the loop on any changes to the status of this idea. 🔄

AU Tax - Enable Rollover of Dividend and Interest Schedules for Non-Client Shareholders in Xero Tax
Enable Rollover of Dividend and Interest Schedules for Non-Client Shareholders in Xero Tax
19 votesHi everyone 👋 thanks for your continued feedback and for sharing your thoughts on this idea. While this idea is not currently on our development roadmap, we are always reviewing feedback to help us shape our product priorities. As a workaround for now, you can use the existing data roll-over function for client shareholders and then manually adjust the details for non-client shareholders. We'll be in touch with another update if there is any change to the status of this idea.

Practice Manager - Ability to add additional time entries to a draft bill
Create the ability to update time entries for draft bills.
We often have a manager draft the bill and between the bill being created and it being approved by a director, there is additional time added to the job. If there was an option to refresh the bill to include all time before approval, rather than having to delete the bill and start again, that would be amazing!2 votesHey Sarah, thanks for raising this Idea with us, we appreciate the time you've taken. As you know with the XPM invoices once they are created you are not able to edit or update them to included tasks/time that have been added after. This is to reduce any duplicate billing and other errors that may occur and for auditing purposes. We have reviewed the Idea and have moved this to not in Pipeline as there aren't any plans to make any changes in this process in the current roadmap.

Stripe payments linked to invoice for reconciliation
Customer payment with stripe not linked to invoice number. Unable to identify customer payment related to invoice for reconciliation.
1 voteHi Iain, this sounds like more of a direct issues that would be best looked into with our specialists at Xero Support. I'd recommend raising a case with our team via Xero Central - They'll be able to get more detail and access to your org to help understand you reconcile your Stripe payments with the appropriate invoice/s.

Viewing full list of the Chart of Accounts from client's Xero organisation
The Chart of Accounts interface within the client's Xero organisation displays a limitation of 200 accounts per page. This necessitates frequent clicks of the 'Next' button, which can be inefficient. It is believed that the Xero Product Team could enhance this feature to allow the display of an unlimited number of accounts on a single page, mirroring the functionality currently available in the Chart of Accounts template within Xero HQ.
4 votesThanks for sharing in the community here. While we appreciate there are some organisation's that have a large number of accounts, the current 200 limit per page is sufficient for majority of organisations to see their full list of accounts and we don't have plans for extending this.

Xero HQ | Ask - More format options
The functionality to format text with bold, italics, and underlining.
The ability to apply multiple highlight colours to text, as well as different font types and colours.
The retention of multiple paragraphs within the 'Ask' feature is necessary. The current limitation, which merges all paragraphs of a question into a single block of text upon sending queries to clients, may lead to confusion and diminished clarity in communication.
The files that advisors attach to questions currently disappear after clients answer. These files should be retained within the queries to ensure both advisors and clients have a comprehensive view of the…
2 votes"Hi everyone, Thanks for your feedback and for sharing your thoughts on how we can improve the Ask feature in Xero HQ. While we don't have a perfect workaround for formatting, as noted by others in the comments, many of you have found that using a clear, simple structure and capitalizing words can help emphasize key points. For attachments, we recognize that the current workaround is not viable, and we're looking into ways to make file handling smoother. We appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. Currently, these enhancements are not on our immediate development roadmap, but your feedback helps us understand what's most important to you. We'll be keeping a close eye on this thread as we continue to shape the future of Xero HQ.

Integration with Fusesign
We use Fusesign as our e-sign solution and it would be great to have the option to send a document directly into the signing software. We've seen a much higher engagement level with Fusesign than any other e-sign product as it doesn't require another login, it uses SMS/email verification instead.
A direct link would smooth out the workflow from the tax product > signing (and maybe even into client files in FYIDocs).
2 votesHi Matthew, it appears that FuseSign is already an integrated app Partner with Xero. As they've designed and built their integration with Xero themselves they'd it'd be best to approach their support to see if this is something they'd consider extending their integration for.
You can find their support contact details at the bottom of their app store listing.

NZ Tax - Improved tracking and matching of Transfers in Tax Statements
In Tax Statements, under Transfers tab: the "auto mark as complete" needs to happen by both amount and date. So need the ability to set the effective date for the transfer to occur, therefore if IRD does something different we are alerted.
Currently if transfer is the same $ value or more, then Xero automatically marks as complete, this should not occur. If the $ is more then the transfer has not gone as expected and we need to be alerted to this.
For transfers that IRD does that are higher than expected we need to be able to set…
52 votesThanks for supporting this idea, everyone.
While we know this isn't a perfect solution, the current workaround is to manually track these transfers and we have some help on doing this within Xero Central.
While we understand the desire for improvements to this process, we want to be upfront that this isn't in our current roadmap.
As you may have heard from our recent Xerocon announcements there are lots of exciting improvements coming within the Practice space over the coming months that we our teams are developing for.
While we will move the idea to Not in pipeline, should there be any change around this we will be sure to share with you here.

The new Xero implementations - becoming very frustrated!
I am finding the inconsistent implementation of the new Xero style mixed in with the old incredibly frustrating. The new style screens are slow to load & enter data, the tabbing and typing a few letters then hitting return either doesn't work (add payment) or is inconsistent between screens, entering a new customer on the fly is frustrating because you can't enter all the information at once & still have to open the full contact edit screen to complete it, also the new contact pop up doesn't autopopulate addresses as you type, the send remittance button disappears if you get…
12 votesHi everyone, sorry we've not responded here sooner. As we upgrade technology we are mindful of the impact this can have for our customers. We understand changing features and learning new flows and the ways of performing some actions can be a big transition for customers.
In particular, as mentioned in your feedback here with new invoicing. To support as much as possible during this time, we're providing lots of information through means of blogs, education and guides on Xero Central.
We're also continuing to iterate and develop new features into new invoicing that we know our customers want.
An example of this are recent improvements we made to the 'Contact' field adding the ability to look up your contact address, edit or add the Attention field, and adding more address lines.
I have made sure your feedback here is shared with the team, however we do want to be…

GST Late claims
Not a new idea however something that we should be aware of.
The late claims button / tab on the new GST return will not show to look into transactions if the Net amount of the total late claims is Nil. This means that if a change is made from April date to March date in July period, when you look at the late claims in the June July return because the amount is netted as Nil they dont show. making it very hard to reconcile your End of Year GST back on workpapers.2 votesHi team, as noted in my last update - while we appreciate your feedback, we don't have any intentions of changing how this is shown within Late claims. We'll move the idea to Not planned so others coming across the idea here are aware. Thanks

Personal Tax (UK) | File personal tax return pre 2020 year
The ability to produce personal tax submissions prior to 2020 from Xero Tax

NZ Tax - Multiple IR833 Forms
At the moment, we can only add one IR833 per client when doing tax returns. It would be great to have the ability to add more IR833 forms, as otherwise, if the client sells more than one property, we need to file the forms directly through the IRD, which can be time-consuming.
14 votesAppreciate you sharing back in ideas with us here. IRD requirement changes mean that the IR833 form can’t be filed as a standalone return and must be sent as an attachment to a tax return. Only one form can be attached per return.

NZ Tax - Adding Correspondence to Tax Return
It would be great and more efficient if we could add correspondence to the tax returns, rather than have to send separately via myIR.
24 votesHi everyone, while we appreciate hearing how we could make processes more efficient for our customers using Xero, this is not an idea we would be able to take action on.
Inland Revenue do not currently allow correspondence to be sent with a tax return via the Gateway services. This may be feedback that you could share with your IR Account Manager. Thanks

feedback
I feel like a dedicated feedback board would be useful. As I don't feel there is currently an appropriate place to give feedback and notify support of things that are not working properly.
For example, I have the new GST returns to trial and there was an actual feedback box in Xero. Where i gave the feedback that i liked the new features but not the look. Now the feedback box is gone and I have just noticed that it tells you that there are unreconciled lines to code. But, they are for the next GST period. Plus the old…6 votesHi Dylan, the team have looked into your idea here and the behaviour you're describing isn't expected and does appear to be more of an issue than idea.
If possible could you please raise a case with our team of specialists at Support and we can take a deeper dive into this with you to work out what's going on. Thanks!

NZ Tax - Audit check to check IRD number
When completing a tax return in XPM, have the audit check feature check the IRD number for hyphens so it's in the correct format. If the number is entered with spaces instead of a hyphens, the audit check lets it pass, and throws an error when submitting.
2 votesHi Franjo, currently an IRD Number validity check is done in Xero Practice Manager tax. Being open we don't have any plans of changing the check that is in place, however we do find most issues are caused when a IRD number is copy and pasted in to Xero and includes lead or trailing spaces which can throw an error.
We'd recommend typing this in to avoid issues.
