Workpapers - Integration of bank statement request portal
Integrate a bank statement generator into bank feeds so accountants and bookkeepers can send a request directly to the clients bank for a bank statement for quarterly bank reconciliation. Pre-approved by client when bank feed integration is setup. Alternatively, automated bank statements per quarter generated and uploaded to Xero via bank automation.

Workpapers - Import client Trial Balance
Enable use for non-Xero clients
For non-Xero clients, it would be very useful to be able to use Workpapers by importing client trial balances. Kindly update when this feature will be available.

Workpapers - Ability to add more users
Sometimes we have more than three people working on a job and currently Xero only allows for one preparer, manager and partner on a job. It would be good if we could have more flexibility in this area.

Workpapers - Option to show Decimal Places
When using Xero Workpapers, it imports the figures across from the Xero client file without decimals. Therefore, when I'm comparing these figures in Workpapers to client reports and bank statements these are often slightly out.
Can you please update Workpapers so that there is an option to show decimal places?
26 votesHi team, we appreciate your feedback and understand the importance of having decimal places visible in workpapers especially for tasks that require a high level of detail. I'm pleased to let you know that our product teams have paid close attention to the idea from our community here as they develop our new Workpapers solution, where all workpapers in the new solution will show 2 decimal places.
For those of you using the existing Workpapers solution, there's no immediate change. You can continue with your current workflow. Once the new solution becomes available, we'll share more information on how to access it.
We're beginning to roll this out to Partners starting with Australia, and will be expanding to other regions in early 2026.

Workpapers - Rearrange support documents in workpaper
Support documents uploaded to a workpaper are listed at the bottom of a workpaper in the order they are uploaded in, it would be a handy feature to be able to reorganise uploaded documents as needed for ease of review and keeping items in say account or alphabetical order.

When previewing a workpaper rather than downloading if you have highlighted using pdf manager this doesnt show that bright. Workpapers - Include square metre rate calculation for home office workapapers
Re the home office workpaper. It seems to calculate soley on a percentage basis yet under DB 18AA, we can claim interest/rent and rates in proportion of business use, as well as $47.85 (for 2022 and future years) per square metre (PSMR) (IRD square meterage rates) as a proxy for general home expenditure. There doesn't seem to be a workaround in the workpaper to opt for the PSMR for the general expenditure claim? I would like to claim the higher of the two calculations for my clients' thanks and would love to see the workpaper work out the better of…

Workpapers - Ability to add a note function to each account
Add a note function to each account. Similar to the queries button but just for general notes about what's in the account that doesn't need a resolution. This would be helpful near the account rather then just at the start in the job note section as it would allow quick access for others to see the note when looking at the specific account.

Workpapers | Analytical review P&L worksheet - Ability to add annotate line items
It would be good to have a discussion or description section against each line item in the Analytical review workpaper. Allowing for "oddities" to be cleared. Making the review process easier.

Workpapers - Customised by Entity type
Xero workpapers should change depending on entity type selected. It appears that the selection of entity type in workpapers only serves to customise the query gallery and has no bearing on the actual workpapers created. An number of examples of this can be seen whereby selecting the trust entity type, the workpaper pack incorrectly contains M & M2 imputation credits, N Shareholders Current Account should be named N Beneficiary Current Account, and most significantly L - Income Tax does not contain a defined field for tax credits allocated on beneficiary income (instead users are having to use the free form…

Workpapers - Download supporting document from 'Documentation' icon
Allow for documents to be downloaded from 'Documentation' icon as well as previewing - The preview feature is not great
1 voteHi team, we’re excited to let you know about a confirmed improvement coming to our new Xero Workpapers, where you'll find a much improved preview and ability to download supporting documents!
The rollout of new Workpapers will be phased, beginning with Australia with more regions to come in FY26.
While the new solution will make this process more seamless, you can still download supporting documents in classic Workpapers today by; downloading individual files from the 'Supporting Documents' list or exporting the entire workpaper pack as a ZIP file, which keeps all your original documents organised and ready for download.
I'll be return to let you know once new Workpapers is live to you all.

XPM workpapers - After document is closed, you are navigated to the prior page with original conditions.
Make it so that when the document is closed, it returns to the same page with the same selection conditions that were before working in this document?
2 votesHi all, we've been listening to your feedback and have worked many highly anticipated enhancements into new Xero Workpapers. This includes one of the most requested features - a smarter navigation experience.
With the new solution, after you close a document you'll automatically be returned to the prior page with all your original filters and conditions intact. Our aim is to deliver a seamless, context-preserving experience for our users. We're actively working on this and plan to roll it out in phases, starting in Australia. You can read more about this in the Xero blog, and I'll be back with more news as rollout continues.

Workpapers - Ability to edit Internal queries
Ability to edit review point, internal query and client query responses.
Currently once you click reply to an Internal Query or review point or client query in workpapers there is no option to edit. This is frustrating if you make a spelling error or accidentally respond to the wrong query. It would be great to have the ability to be able to edit these responses if necessary.

Taking on board feedback from our community to develop this, new Workpapers provides the ability to edit internal queries in Workpapers. We're excited for you to try this new experience and have just begun rollout to Australian partners, with other regions soon to come in 2026. Workpapers - Ability to edit to meet compliance needs
Quite a few firms are using business fitness/their own custom workpapers in conjunction with Xero workpapers to meet their compliance needs. This is because some existing Xero workpapers e.g I2 - Finance Lease, S - Home Office, K - GST etc are not sufficient to meet our compliance needs. For example the home office workpaper does not contain the square metre rate method and there is no last year comparison for analytical review. No workpapers have been added to allow for new tax developments such as rental interest deductibility, rental loss limitation rules, mixed use assets to name a few.…

As we continue to develop and release our new Workpapers solution to practices across the globe, this is something we know could benefit some practices (especially in NZ) and have it high on our radar as the team continue to plan their roadmap.

Workpapers - Bulk upload attachments to queries
Ability to upload multiple documents to workpaper queries at one time, currently can only select and upload one document at time which can be quite time consuming if a client has supplied you with 12 months bank statements to upload. I note this bulk upload feature is available when saving supporting documents to workpapers so not sure why this functionality can be expanded to include queries?

Workpaper | Fringe Benefits - Motor Vehicle private use
Have a workpaper for motor vehicle private use adjustments with calculators for FBT, logbook, and mileage reimbursement. Be able to have more than one like the home office workpaper does. And have this roll forward like the home office one does so that you can see the method used by the client and the FBT/logbook values etc.

Workpapers - Export & print linked files
Xero workpaper would also show the actual file report and not just the links when exporting the workpaper. This is only available for files uploaded to the workpaper. Our practice uses FYI docs where all the relevant schedules, documents, and files are uploaded and we simply link it to Xero Workpapers. This is also helpful for practices who are using cloud storing services for documents and files.
