Contacts - Update new contact name on historical transactions
I would like to see Customer and Vendor names automatically updated when edited. Right now the names stay what was originally entered. It would save a lot of time if the names updated on old transactions automatically.

Thanks for sharing this idea — we can see why having historical transactions automatically reflect an updated contact name would be helpful.
We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue to track interest and impact.
In the meantime, there is a workaround you can try. Create a new contact with the updated name, then merge the existing contact into the new one. When contacts are merged, Xero keeps the transaction history together and historical invoices, bills, and other financial transactions inherit the name of the contact they were merged into.
Please note, if the contact is linked to a project, that will need to be updated manually after the merge, as project contacts don’t update automatically.
