Reporting - Contact | Report to show amount and date supplier is paid
Supplier Payment Report - A report to show payment date, invoice date, invoice number and amount paid for all suppliers to assist with preparation of Payment Times Report.
9 votesHi there, thanks for raising this with us. Please note, this is already possible within Xero. You can run either the Supplier bill activity report or Payable invoice reports to get a better understanding of the dates and amounts. We can see that a case has not been raised about this, we'd recommend raising this with our support team to further assist you.
If you'd like to try this out before taking action in your own org, you can use the demo company to test it. 🙂
If we've misunderstood your query, please let us know!

MTD IT adjustment to calendar quarters election
According to HMRC there can be an adjustment to the first MTD IT return, so that the submissions are based on calendar quarters, rather than the existing standard ones. This would help align the submissions to VAT periods and documents received/bookkeeping done. So for example, the first period would be 1st April to 30th June, instead of 6th April to 5th July 2026. I understand this may only affect businesses with a year end of 31st March.
Currently, Xero doesn't support this (confirmed 09.02.26).
Is this needed or is there a work around?6 votesThis is already possible within Xero! There is specific criteria but you are able to change the NTD for IT quarter dates. The criteria is as follows:
- You can only change the update period before the first quarterly submission is made. After that, the Update period type can’t be changed.
- If the year end is not 31 March, the business must use standard quarters.
- If calendar periods are chosen, the first year still starts on 6 April,

VAT Report/detailed Current Period - available without HMRC connection
It would be useful to be able to download the current periods VAT report, even when there is no connection to HMRC. This would be useful when the HMRC Gateway is down, or when waiting for an authority code from HMRC. This would allow reviewing the return while the HMRC Gateway is down and being able to carry out the Partial Exemption calculations when needed.
1 voteYou can already do this in Xero Lorraine!
You can run the Non MTD VAT return, set the date range for the current VAT period and this will generate the VAT return so you can check through.
Once HMRC has populated the MTD VAT return you can click review and make any adjustment that you need. You can also delete the finalised Non MTD VAT return once the MTD VAT return is available to avoid confusion.
If you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

Tracking GP% for individual revenue streams
I run a F&B business. Tracking Food, Beverage and Accommodation GPs has always been a KPI in our industry. Whilst it is possible to bespoke the new P&L report to provide an overall GP of all the above revenue streams combined it would be better if it were possible to report GP for each revenue stream, for instance Food Purchases as a % of Food Sales, or as %GP, beverage sales against beverage purchases etc.
1 voteHey Richard, you can actually do this by creating a custom profit and Loss report! You would need to have a seperate account for each Revenuestream and the COGS for each of the revenue streams (food, beverage, types of beverages etc).
Then you can edit the report and create row that you would group each revenue stream with that streams COGS giving you the Gross profit for eac Revenue stream. If you need more help building this you can reach out to our Xero Support team to help you with this.😊

Allow "Future date" for planning on reports. Example: Income Statement (Profit and Loss)
The reports pick up transactions only up to the current date, regardless of the date range specified in the report.
For example, I use the income statement (profit and loss) as a useful report for my fiscal year close out, where I'm trying to minimize the income from the business by purchasing products and services I need in the coming year or paying myself to convert to personal income. When running depreciation on fixed assets, the depreciation expense is posted for the end of the month, and as a result is not included on the income report.
The date selection…
1 voteHi Michael, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We understand that having access to forward-looking financial information is important when planning cash flow, reviewing forecasts, and making business decisions.
You can already use Xero’s reporting tools to view future periods by selecting a future date range in reports. If you want to see how your active year will wrap up, you can open the Common formats panel on the left side of the report and select "Current financial year by month – actual and budget".

Reporting - Manual Journal Report
Report that extracts manual journal entries (only) with user details - for audit purpose.
2 votesHi Yash, returning to your idea here there is another option I wanted to share in which you can run the History & Notes for a period, and under 'Type' filter to only show manual journals.
This report can be exported to PDF or Excel for further analysis and if you wanted all the details from the manual journal itself you could export from the Account Transactions report like Paul previously shared or Journal report to marry up outside of Xero.

Reporting | Inventory - Add comprehensive sales history by item and customer report
It would be nice to be able to be able to filter by specific customers invoice to track quantities of parts they are ordering over any given time periods.
1 voteHi Shawna, thanks for raising this idea. We understand why having a clear customer-by-item view could make it easier to review buying patterns, prepare client conversations, and manage inventory decisions.
The good news is this can already be done using the Receivable Invoice Detail report. You can customise the report filters by selecting a specific customer and using the Item Code filter to review the products linked to that customer’s invoices.
Because this reporting view is already available, I’ve updated the status of this request to Existing Functionality and closed it for further voting. If you’re looking for a different type of customer and inventory analysis, feel free to share more details.
