Account Transactions Report - even if no transactions in account
Please allow the account transactions report to show even if there are no transactions for the specified period. i.e. the report will simply show the opening and closing balance.
This is very important if you are reconciling/consolidating various accounts of which some have movement and some don't. Without the accounts balances for all accounts (inc those with no movement) it will not agree.
2 votesWe've had a lot of development across Xero's reports, and everyone will now find we've provided options of which accounts to Include when running the report - those with Only transactions, transactions or non-zero balances, or All including zero balances!
I know this has been in hot anticipation here, thanks for all your sharing in the community on this. 😊 -
Reporting: Account Transactions Report - Description column pull from Transactions not Contact/Type
Ability to filter Account Transactions report by only Description. Currently description contains both the contact name and line description.
Purpose: Clarity of data when running the Account Transactions report, and ability to better filter and customise the Account Transactions report
1 voteDidn't take long to round back 🙂 - Invoice # and Contact fields are now live in the Account Transactions report.
When you next run the Account Transactions report, you'll find options to add either of these fields as \columns to the report, or group/summarise and filter by either of these fields.

Cash Summary Report - Run for selected period
Hi,
When clients run the cash summary report - they often select Period - 1 month, then compare with - previous 11 periods.
This report can be run at any stage throughout the year showing the previous 12 months (showing each month on its own column to track trends etc) on a cash flow basis (P&L reports not relevant if there is equipment lines, drawings, tax payments etc). Most of my clients run this report regularly as it 100% focuses on the cash, showing cash movements during the period.
My issue with running this report is that it only gives…
1 voteWe wanted to let you know that we've released the improved Cash summary report, where you can now select more flexible date range by clicking the 'Date Range' field, then choose the comparison period from 'Compare with' column.
To get the full picture on how this new feature works, check out our video here!
Note that if you need to add a total column into this report, you can use the layout editor then add a formula that you're trying to get.
Lastly, we really appreciate your input here, so we'll mark this request as delivered. -
Profit and Loss - Show YTD Option on report as column without using report editor
Show YTD
Show Total
available for selection when running report
Can add them when customising the report, but if you do so, then you will not be able to change the number of comparison periods in the report when you run it each time. Think of a monthly profit and loss report where as each month passes, you would like to show an additional month in the report.
Trying to create a report pack for a client where there will be multiple versions of the profit and loss report each month based on the tracking categories.1 voteHello everyone, hope all is well with you!
We want to let you know that the Year to Date (YTD) option is now available within the Profit & Loss (P&L) report. You can find this feature by clicking the More button, then you can tick the ‘Year To Date’ check box.
If you want to know more about what you can expect in the Reporting feature space in the future, have a look at our blog here.
I’ll mark this request as ‘Done’, so the votes will be returned to you. Thank you for your great feedback that you’ve given here 😃. (Oct 21) -
Account Transactions Report - Display bank account on transactions
Please VOTE for this. I would like my detailed general ledger (and other) reports to show me which bank account the transaction is from.
1 voteHi everyone, we've recently released the related account column to the Account Transactions report, this shows both sides of the journal (so includes bank account) and can display up to 2 accounts, when there are more you can drill down to view these - Take a look over here for more information :)

Ability to change font type and size in report templates.
Purpose: To make users’ can provide a report that is more readable, especially for older clients who want to see the report.
39 votesThank you for each sharing and adding your support to this idea, everyone.
We've made some steps around being able to adapt the font size of reports through the use of Report styles. Report styles are available to any Xero Partner, and lets you apply different publishing styles by allowing you to set the logo, colour of titles in reports, and font size of client reports and report templates.
If you're a small business customer, reach out to your Xero advisor to understand how this could help your business, or find one through Advisor Connect today.
We appreciate there are other ideas for improving the format of reports further with improvements such as font type, or text colouring & wrapping - We have an idea across here we'd encourage you add your support and votes to and will share any future improvements on.

Reporting - Cash basis reporting by default
Enable cash basis reporting by default.
Purpose: Because most clients often select cash basis report when looking at comparative reports.
37 votesHi community, thanks again for your support and interest toward the idea here.
As mentioned in my last update - our Reporting team have now released Report Preferences to all organisations, which people with Adviser role can find within the Advanced settings.
With this feature there is a selection of defaults that can be set when running newer version of reports in Xero. Currently this includes whether to show account codes, decimals and (as asked here) ability to set the accounting basis the report is run in and if this is shown on the report. 😁

Reports - Draft Watermark
When we have a draft report and we are printing it to PDF so a client can review it would be good if it automatically put a water mark of Draft on the document. Currently we print it and then stamp draft on to the report rescan and then email to client. This feature would also be usefull to ensure unpublished accounts are not printed as final copies in error.
3 votesThanks for sharing and supporting this idea, everyone. It's Oct 2021, and we've been making some big enhancements to reporting in Xero, with more in store for the coming months.
One of our most recent improvements enables Practice users to add a preset or custom watermark to published reports!
If you're not connected with a Xero Partner use Advisor Connect to help find one, right for you. -

Reporting - Option to add account numbers & zero balances to financial statements
Ability to have to have a check box for "Include Account Numbers" and "Include or Omit Zero balances".
Purpose: Because it demonstrates completeness to show that the balance actually is zero
212 votesHi everyone, as of today the ability to show nil(zero) balance accounts in reports is live to all users!
To confirm, there are 2 ways to turn this on. Either through a blanket selection in the Report preferences, or via a toggle on and off option within the 'More' menu of the following reports;
- Balance Sheet
- Profit & Loss (Income Statement)
- Statement of Cash Flows - Direct Method
- Trial Balance
- Cash Summary
- Movements in Equity
- Blank report
- And, Report templates
As we close out this idea, we want to say a big thank you to everyone that's shared their interest in this with us overtime.

Account Transactions Report - Hide archived accounts
Archived accounts should have some method to prevent them from appearing in dropdown menus, such as the Account Transactions report. It gets ugly and cluttered. Xero is supposed to be beautiful.
1 voteThanks for all your input on this idea over time.
We've got through a lot of the meaty underwork and being able to concentrate some more attention to some your contributions in community.
With today's release for reports we're giving you a dropdown option to Include/Exclude Archived accounts in the Account Transactions report. 🙂 Give it a go today, and save as Custom to access with these settings anytime! -
Expenses by Contact Report - Filter by group
When breaking down the contacts into groups, such as 'subcontractors', it would be useful to run the 'expenses by contact' report, and to be able to limit that to just the groups I have created, to see how much I have spent on that group as a whole, as well as individuals. (Currently it just shows the full contact list)

Reporting: Receivable/Payable Invoice reports - Add Contact Account Number
Adding contact account number in Receivable/Payable Invoice report.
Purpose: To better sort and grouping accounts by filtering contact account number.
3 votesThank you for submitting your votes here!
I want to let you know that we've recently release the ability to add contact account number to Receivable Summary & Detail and Payable Summary & Detail Invoice report. This means you'll be able to sort, group/summarise, or filter your invoices/bills by your contact's account number.
That being said, I'll move this idea to 'delivered' 😄.

Management Report - Add more reports
To be able to add other reports to the standard Management Report packs? I need to report on two different styles of profit and loss monthly. There are other reports I would include if I had the option to select them. Thanks.
1 voteGood news everyone! I can confirm that the new management report pack has landed. With this new report, you’re now able to add, remove, and reorder the report pack flexibly.
I also want to remind you that you’re able to set up multiple packs for different purposes, by saving the report as a custom report. So you don’t need to redo your customisations each time. -
Reporting: Account Transactions Report - Include Contact Name and Paid column
Ability to filter contact name, and add a paid field in account transaction report.

You can now add a Contact column, or format to group/summarise or filter by Contact or Invoice # 🙂

Account Transactions Report: Sorting by account code and name
Hi Xero,
Thanks for creating the new 'Account Transaction Report' and adding the GST columns (and other transaction attributes) recently.....but there are a couple of significant issues that need to be sorted out before this is done and dusted.
These are:
- When sorting by 'Account (Name)' it returns the accounts in alphabetical order meaning P&L and Asset accounts are all mixed in together when doing a full GL report. I think it would be better to show the accounts in account number order (or alphabetically with the P&L and Balance sheet accounts separated)
- When sorting by 'Account Code'…1 voteOur team have been paying close attention to what our community have been asking and with today's release we've added the ability to sort and summarise by 'Account Code & Name' within the Account Transactions report.
You can use this option to view both the Account Code and Name, without losing the Opening Balances - Read up on the changes in our recent Blog.
Thanks for sharing on this with us here in community. Also noting some people here who'd like to view file attachments against transactions - While not possible atm, we do have an idea for this growing across here and you're welcome to join and use your vote from this idea on. 🙂(Sep 21) -
Customer Invoice Report - Filter by Contact
Hi
I was wondering whether you are looking at adding more filters to the Customer Invoice Report so that we can filter it by a single Contact? Presently whenever I need to show a customer what they have and haven't paid and on what dates, I am exporting the whole report to excel and then deleting all the lines that don't relate to that contact.
Thanks
1 voteHi team - The new Contact Transactions - Receivables report has just been released. :)
See how you can access and tailor all the new Contact reports on our Blog - Test them out for yourself and let us know what you think.
I can also confirm the issue with only the first 100s contacts has been resolved, so you should be able to access all contacts from the drop-down selection now. -
Reporting - Set report to print on one page
Ability to set reports to print on one page.
Purpose: To have a better visual and save more papers, as currently some reports can come out more than 1 page.
28 votesHey Community,
As part of our reports refresh, we’ve updated how reports look when printing directly from your browser - removing the larger margins mentioned in some of the comments.
Generally, we’d recommend either exporting to PDF or, as Russel has mentioned, exporting to an excel file for further refinement before printing.
However, if you do print directly from your browser, you’ll now find that the report is correctly aligned to the left of the page 😊
Thanks again for all your feedback around this idea!
