Xero Analytics - Ability to share dashboards for the date range set and not revert to current month
I quite like the dash board feature and shared it with some clients. However, when they click on the link, it rolls over to current period. It would be good to either integrate this with reporting or allow a dashboard to be saved so it can be shared to show data at a point in time
14 votesHi team, good news! We'e updated this feature in Xero Analytics, so you can now share a dashboard on any fixed date.
When clicking "share dashboard", you have the option to select either a rolling date (which will always revert to the current date and automatically roll at the end of a period) or a fixed date (that'll show the dashboard according to the exact selected date).
We really appreciate hearing how this feature would be beneficial to your use of Xero Analytics, here. Thanks

Xero Analytics | Reports - Customised by variable accounting periods
Create Syft Analytical reports & Dashboard customised by accounting periods. Our company doesn't follow Calendar months- so it will be good to compare and analyse reports based on our accounting periods and not calendar.
12 votesHi team, there is now the ability to generate dashboards for the current financial year, within Xero Analytics. Within Xero, you can now access this from the Reports Menu within the Analytics section.
Select a "Monthly (financial year to date)" option from the date selector. This will show your totals and the number of months per graph, according to your financial year.
Worth noting that this capability is also available within Syft as a standalone product.

Single sales report - for the sales team
Single report for our Sales Team that will show:
Sales MTD vs Target (Month by Month YTD)
Number of Invoices by Month
Avg Value of Invoices by month
5 votesHi team, returning to this idea we now have Xero Analytics in which you can use the Business Health Scorecard to compare your monthly sales, to a set target.
You can also display this as a widget on your Analytics dashboards, to visually compare your monthly sales to the target line.

Navigation - Move GST return to Tax
Can GST returns be under the tax tab (not sure where it is but it isn't there or under reports; currently under accounting tab/ reports).
5 votesHi team, we really appreciate your feedback and getting to know the new navigation.
We want to confirm with the Tax menu in Xero's new navigation GST Return will be available, or the relevant Sales Tax report for your organisation's region (e.g Activity Statement in AU, VAT Return for UK).
As you can with favoriting reports, it'll also be possible to favourite and show this report from the Reporting menu if you choose.

Financial Settings - Shorten financial year
Ability to shorten a financial year end on Xero without messing up reporting.
E.g. when a company's financial year end is shortened from 30 June to 31 December so there is a 6 month transition period needed.45 votesSorry we've not updated on this idea sooner.
We've now added the ability for you to create a short transition period (between 1 - 12 months long) when changing the Financial Year End date within your organisations Financial Settings.
To confirm the work in this space - Aligning with the UK basis period reforms we've made a change to Financial settings in Xero, so you can add start and end dates to different periods.
This change impacts multiple areas of Xero;
- Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings.
- The same story will apply in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.
- In Xero Tax, you’ll…

Trial Balance With Category of Accounts - Grouping of Same type of accounts like Current assets, libailities, Income and Expenses
Please Allow Xero Users to Add Category in Trial Balance and Group Accounts under same category like Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet have.
1 voteYou can already group by Account Type in the Trial Balance report, Chitrang! 🙂 Simply click the Grouping/Summarising option within the report where you'll see Account type as an option.

Profit and Loss - moving annual total (MAT) option
Ability to generate Profit and Loss reports that show each month what the moving annual (12 monthly) total (MAT) is, so that an understanding of trends to income and expenditure items is over time.
Purpose: Users can see the trend behind the immediate or current year number
1 voteThis should be possible with the ability to add custom Date columns in the reports layout editor, Geoff.
It does require a bit of manual set up, however you could add columns for say 1 Jan - 28 Feb, 1 Jan - 31 March and so forth so you can see the accumulative total across months.

W-9 - Integrate sending with Gmail
Xero doesn't have a built-in option to directly integrate with or automatically use Gmail for sending W-9 requests. That would be really helpful ~
2 votesIt sounds like you're referring to the Request W-9 window, Reuben? You should be able to set up Gmail as your default email app on the device you're using. If this isn't opening Gmail by default you may want to check your device's settings.

Changing subtitles on reports when changing the year end
Changing subtitles on reports when changing the year end.
When shortening the year end, eg with Basis Reform periods, the year end is showing incorrectly as 'year end and the original year end date' rather than period end and the new year end date. It would be great to have the flexibility to amend subtitle dates within reports so that the accounts can be produced straight from Xero.5 votesHi team, sorry we haven't caught the idea here sooner. Listening to feedback we know the sub heading was a bit of a confusion point for organisation's with a longer or shorter FY.
We've recently made a change so the subheading will now read 'For the 'x' months ended' so the report will be more accurately reflected.
Thanks for your sharing on this with us here.

UK Payroll - New Starters and Leavers payroll report
Joiner and leaver payroll report
A report to show who has joined and left within a certain period
63 votesHi everyone, thank you for sharing your feedback and voting on the idea for a UK Payroll report showing new starters and leaver dates.
We wanted to let you know that we have recently released an enhanced Contact Details report for UK Payroll. This is currently being rolled out to UK payroll customers.
As part of this enhancement, we have added 11 new columns to the report, including Start date and Termination date, so you can easily identify employees start and end dates.
Thank you again for helping us understand the need for this improvement and for continuing to shape Xero.

Check Register Report
New to be able to run a report to show checks paid out each month, sortable by each bank account. Date - Payee - Check Number - Transaction Amount - Status (Reconciled / Unreconciled), Total dollar amount of checks written for the month, as well as total dollar amount of checks unreconciled for the month. It would be nice to have the voided checks fall to the bottom as well. I have attached a copy of one I make in excel every month since Xero doesn't have this report.
3 votesThanks for sharing a screenshot of what you're after, Lauren. This is the same detail as what can be retrieved from the Checks register in Xero, and if needed you can Export your check register to CSV to be able to use this outside of Xero.
While it's not possible to filter or sort the order of checks based on Status, if desired you could use the CSV outside of Xero to sort your checks register.

set balance sheet default date to "today"
The Balance Sheet currently defaults to the last EOFY date, which as at today (posting this suggestion) is 9 months ago. this is frustrating as you usually look for the figures as at now, and not the end of the last financial year. This functionality changed in one of the recent product updates. I know we can change the date and re-run the report, however it seems silly to default back to the end of the last FY and is a waste of time to have to do this always.
1 voteHi Jo, from the Balance Sheet there is a common date format for 'Today'. Once selected you can save the report as Custom and make this the default if you'd prefer.

FX rates used on Balance Sheet report
The 'old' balance sheet showed the fx rates as a note at the bottom - can we have the option to add this to the new balance sheet layout.
99 votesHi everyone, we've just released disclosures for foreign currency in Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Trial balance, Movements in equity, Budget Variance and the Blank reports.🙂
When you run one of these reports in base currency you'll see indicators next to amounts that have been translated that show the exchange rate that was used.
Where applicable and you run one of these reports in a foreign currency there will be an indicator next to the currency sub heading that links to a note which display the exchange rates at which the base currency has been translated to foreign currency as at the report date, and any comparative dates.
We'll be extending this feature across more reports and I'll return to share as these come available. Thanks! -
Activity Statement - Ability to dismiss ATO outage notification
I appreciate getting a notification of a future ATO outage but I'd like the ability to dismiss it; I've already checked the dates and confirmed it won't affect me, but it stays on the page while completing the BAS.
1 voteThanks for your feedback on this notification banner, Shannon.
After a quick check in with our team on this, I'm pleased to share they've made a small change so you'll now find it's able to be dismissed!

Reporting - Profit and Loss format to show EBITDA
Can we please have a few new GL Account categories so that the P&L can be printed in the standard format to show EBITDA, EBIT, Profit before Tax and Profit after Tax.
Should be a fairly simple addition to the available categories, to add Interest, Depreciation and Tax as categories would enable this.
This could also help with the enhancement of the Cashflow Reports.29 votesHi team, we've now introduced Xero Analytics in which you can achieve what you're after here.
With the Business Health scorecard you can create EBITDA and EBIT metrics.
In addition, you can exclude these accounts in your widgets on the Xero Analytics dashboard as well as in the visualisations.
We appreciate and thank you for your interest of this with us here in Product Ideas.

Reporting - Monthly comparatives to run for the full month
Would it be possible to amend Xero settings, so that if you run a balance sheet to the end of February, the comparatives are also run to the end of previous month?
In February, my current month balance sheet is run to 28 February (Xero's choice) and Xero decides that means I also want to see the comparatives run to 28 January as a default setting.
As many month-end journals are posted to, say, 31 January, the balance doesn't include them.
This is very misleading: in any other month, the comparatives are run to the end of the month.
It's…
1 voteSorry Karen, not quite sure what's going on with your report there but I'd recommend coming into our specialists at Xero Support to have a closer look at your report settings.
Running for the full period of the month is the default so it should pick up all days for the month comparatives you're running the report for.
I've attached a test from the demo org - Setting the Date to 28 Feb, with compare for 2 months the report shows me the full months with columns for 31 Jan and 31 Dec.

Monthly Total Invoiced Amount per contact
Instead of showing only the cash out over the 12 months on the top of a contact show the total invoiced amount so that we could check all the invoices are on by matching the monthly figures to the statement.
3 votesHi team, as note din my last update. It's possible to run the Receivable Invoice Summary report with a few filters to get what you need here.
If you Group by Contact and Filter by Approved you'll be able to see the invoices and a summary per Contact. If this is a report you'd want to view often, you could save as Custom to quickly access this anytime.

Customer name & address report with account number
Where on xero in the report is a customer & supplier name & address report giving account number / address details please.
1 voteHi Jane, there is no direct report in Xero that will provide all this detail for your Contacts. However you could export your contacts from Xero which will include columns with this data.

NZ GST return - Easy Printing of GST Return and Transactions
I would like to request the return of the nice simple professional looking GST Returns and Printouts as the new layout is unsuitable to be sent to Clients and printing out the GST Returns and details now appears spread over more pages.
5 votesThanks for your feedback here, everyone. We appreciate hearing what our customers need, and listening to feedback our team have made a change to the layout of the GST Transactions by tax rate view, so this is now similar to the previous report in a portrait layout 😊

Reporting - Full List of Reports inc. descriptions for each region.
Provide a FULL list of ALL reports!
There are SOOOO many reports out there that I am not aware of, as they are all hidden! Unless you know the exact name of the report they are useless to search. I have just spent a wasted few days between facebook and support trying to pull a report similar to Supplier Statement. I did a search and of course there is nothing called that. I eventually contacted support to find out how I could get a Supplier Statement and was told to use a "Supplier Bill Activity". I would never have guessed…
39 votesTotally get the keywords our customers look for or search and the names of Xero's reports may not always match. We've making use of generative AI and have released this to search within the Xero help menu - Where possible Xero will auto generate a response based on your search, and otherwise you'll see the most relevant content from Xero Central.
Taking the example in the idea here, when searching 'supplier statement' the first relevant result helps a user understand what reports will help them get an understanding of supplier activity in Xero.
In terms of listing reports in the reports centre - Some of Xero's reports such as the Supplier Bill Activity are a drill down report. While it won't be listed on the reports centre as a default, you can click the 3 dot menu next to the Contact Transactions - Summary report to view sub reports. If…
