Fixed Assets - Attach a file
Option to attach files to individual fixed assets
Purpose: Ease of reference, being able to attach files and documentation that related to an asset
681 votesHi community, we've now released the ability to attach a file to a Fixed Asset to all organisations using the new FA's experience. As mentioned in my last update, the 'Attach files' option is found at the top right when editing an individual asset. You can either select to Upload files from your device or files library, or simply drag & drop files to the upload modal.😊
We appreciate there are some Australian businesses using pools that are still on the older Fixed Assets experience and won't have access to the Attach files' feature atm. While we complete work to help move you all to the new experience I've created a new idea. Add your vote to stay updated.
If you'd like to stop using pools this is possible, however it requires you to turn off tax reporting - This does have impact on other aspects of your fixed…

Reporting - Show date and time stamp report was run
Ability to show date and time stamps, to see when the report was run.
Purpose: This will help users to do their Audit Trail.
241 votesHey community, thanks for your continued interest in this idea. Earlier this year we delivered some updates to reports, so that they’ll now show page numbers and date stamps when exported to PDF.
This is an idea that was seeded by the community team when we launched Product Ideas back in 2022.
The Product team has done some great work to address the original request but reading the commentary here, the scope of the idea has grown a bit since then!
We’re confident that this release solves the original request so I’ll be marking this as delivered.
There are additional improvements that have picked up some momentum in the comments: to make the date stamp toggle-able, and to extend the field to include time as well. To be open we don't have plans to progress these specific asks.

Profit & Loss - Filter Tracking Report by second tracking category
Filter Compare Tracking Report by second tracking category - run the compare P&L report with the P&L down the left and the categories across the columns but then be able to filter the transactions within this report by the second tracking category.
136 votesHot anticipation for this idea - We're pleased to share that this change is going live! (If you don't quite have it yet it'll be with you in the next 2 days)
If you use Tracking in your org we've added a new 'Compare tracking categories' option on the front page of the newer Profit & Loss.
While the older version had a limitation of selecting 100 options at a time, the team have doubled this, so now you can select up to 200 tracking categories to view at once.
In terms of activity
- Archived tracking options won't be shown by default but there is a switch to view and select these if you choose.
- When run, the report is designed to only show columns for tracking options that have had activity within the date range the reports run which should help you zone-in, and get a better view of…

FX rates used on Balance Sheet report
The 'old' balance sheet showed the fx rates as a note at the bottom - can we have the option to add this to the new balance sheet layout.
99 votesHi everyone, we've just released disclosures for foreign currency in Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Trial balance, Movements in equity, Budget Variance and the Blank reports.🙂
When you run one of these reports in base currency you'll see indicators next to amounts that have been translated that show the exchange rate that was used.
Where applicable and you run one of these reports in a foreign currency there will be an indicator next to the currency sub heading that links to a note which display the exchange rates at which the base currency has been translated to foreign currency as at the report date, and any comparative dates.
We'll be extending this feature across more reports and I'll return to share as these come available. Thanks! -
Reporting | Page Break - Preview in Xero Reports (without exporting)
Currently, when preparing financial statements or other reports in Xero, you have to export the report to PDF to work out if you will need to insert page breaks to keep all related content on one page, or to ensure that a heading doesn't end up on one page and the information on the next. This can sometimes mean exporting a report multiple times if there are multiple page breaks required.
It would be helpful if in the drafting stage, Xero reports showed some sort of indicator (i.e. a dotted line), so that you could identify where a page would…
69 votesHi everyone! Today we released the new preview panel to all users 🥳
Any report that you can edit the layout of now has a PDF preview on the right of the screen. You'll be able to instantly see how any changes you're making to your reports will be reflected (including page breaks).
We thoroughly appreciate the input and feedback we've received from customers which has helped refine this end result. Thank you

Management report - Ability to change dates of individual reports
Can you please amend the MANAGEMENT REPORT to have the ability to CHANGE DATES for an individual report in the Report Pack.
Does it have to have the same date for every report page in the report pack? Almost every single month I need some accounts for the CURRENT MONTH, and others for the YEAR TO DATE, or for a DIFFERENT PERIOD, but every time i change ONE DATE, , EVERY SINGLE REPORT CHANGES. It';s just AWFUL.61 votesHi community!
Thanks to everyone who shared their feedback on this idea, and took the time to connect with our design and product teams for interviews 😊
Based on this feedback, we’ve rolled out a change to the Management Report pack.
By default, the dates for individual reports will still align with the date range of the pack. However, you can now click ‘Manage dates’ to set the dates for individual reports in the pack.
See the attached GIF for an example, or get started with the feature yourself, by following the steps in our Management Reports article.

General Ledger Exceptions report
General Ledger Exception Report
Getting new updates and new reports is fine but can you please keep this GL Exception report (old version) or else make arrangements to create the same report in the updated versions of General Ledger Reports.
This report is very useful and crucial for setting up work papers.
50 votesHey community, thanks for your interest in this idea, and for sharing your feedback on the new reporting experience.
We’ll be rolling out a new version of the General Ledger exceptions report, and you should see start to see it pop up in your reporting centre from today 🎉
Unlike the older exceptions report, this is a dedicated report. So you'll no longer need to navigate to the GL Summary to find it - saving you a couple of clicks!

Reporting - Full List of Reports inc. descriptions for each region.
Provide a FULL list of ALL reports!
There are SOOOO many reports out there that I am not aware of, as they are all hidden! Unless you know the exact name of the report they are useless to search. I have just spent a wasted few days between facebook and support trying to pull a report similar to Supplier Statement. I did a search and of course there is nothing called that. I eventually contacted support to find out how I could get a Supplier Statement and was told to use a "Supplier Bill Activity". I would never have guessed…
39 votesTotally get the keywords our customers look for or search and the names of Xero's reports may not always match. We've making use of generative AI and have released this to search within the Xero help menu - Where possible Xero will auto generate a response based on your search, and otherwise you'll see the most relevant content from Xero Central.
Taking the example in the idea here, when searching 'supplier statement' the first relevant result helps a user understand what reports will help them get an understanding of supplier activity in Xero.
In terms of listing reports in the reports centre - Some of Xero's reports such as the Supplier Bill Activity are a drill down report. While it won't be listed on the reports centre as a default, you can click the 3 dot menu next to the Contact Transactions - Summary report to view sub reports. If…

Reporting - Include journal ID
Include the unique transaction ID (from the Journal Report) on other reports including Account Transactions / General Ledger reports / Project reports / Inventory Item Details report.
Purpose: So we can easily see which transactions have gone through since the last month end / close, as the transaction ID's are unique and incremental. We cannot rely on the dates of transactions as invoices will come in with old dates which will appear like they were posted in a previous month, but are a new transaction. I believe having the transaction ID's on reports will be a significant improvement for the…
39 votesThank you all for your support and feedback to the idea here. We now have the new General Ledger Detail report that includes the option to add Journal ID as a column in the report live to you all!
Within the report itself you'll be able to rearrange columns to drag and drop this where you'd like it to sit in your report, and once you have set up how you like save as a Custom report to access this format whenever you need. 😁

Report Templates - Change font type and size
Ability to change font type and size in report templates.
Purpose: To make users’ can provide a report that is more readable, especially for older clients who want to see the report.
39 votesThank you for each sharing and adding your support to this idea, everyone.
We've made some steps around being able to adapt the font size of reports through the use of Report styles. Report styles are available to any Xero Partner, and lets you apply different publishing styles by allowing you to set the logo, colour of titles in reports, and font size of client reports and report templates.
If you're a small business customer, reach out to your Xero advisor to understand how this could help your business, or find one through Advisor Connect today.
We appreciate there are other ideas for improving the format of reports further with improvements such as font type, or text colouring & wrapping - We have an idea across here we'd encourage you add your support and votes to and will share any future improvements on.

Reporting - Cash basis reporting by default
Enable cash basis reporting by default.
Purpose: Because most clients often select cash basis report when looking at comparative reports.
37 votesHi community, thanks again for your support and interest toward the idea here.
As mentioned in my last update - our Reporting team have now released Report Preferences to all organisations, which people with Adviser role can find within the Advanced settings.
With this feature there is a selection of defaults that can be set when running newer version of reports in Xero. Currently this includes whether to show account codes, decimals and (as asked here) ability to set the accounting basis the report is run in and if this is shown on the report. 😁

Aged Receivables report - Include credit control notes
we would like a one line aged receivables report which shows the notes in a column next to each client, eg so we can see at a glance where credit control is up to at a glance looking at all the clients rather than having to go into each one.
If not possible can we tailor a report e.g how would we show the credit limit on the aged receivable report in another column?36 votesHey Kate,
Thanks for sharing this suggestion! I can confirm it’s already possible in Xero to see, at a glance, credit control information in the Aged Receivables report.
You’ll need to either add the ‘Credit Limit’ and ‘Available Credit’ columns to your Aged Receivables report, or use the ‘Customer credit limits’ Common Format, to surface this information.
I’ve attached a screenshot as an example, and you can read more about this in our 'Show customer credit limits' article on Xero Central.

Profit&Loss New-Report in multi-currency
Ability to run the profit and loss new in a currency other than the organisations base currency
36 votesHi everyone, thanks for your contributions to the idea and to those who jumped in to help test and play with the multi currency before the full release.
Today I can confirm we've released the ability to run the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Budget Variance reports in other currencies an org has been using to all users. If you're using multi-currency in your org you'll find this extra option in each of these reports settings. 😁

Reporting - Aged Receivables Reports - run as at one date, and view the amount still outstanding at another date
Within the debtors and creditors reports (either detailed or summary) the ability to show balances as of todays date when working on client's system up to 9 months later, would be handy to see which debtors and creditors are still outstanding.
I.e. client has £100k debtors as at their year end 31/3/22, but when we run report on say 31/7/22, how many of that £100k is still outstanding? To have a toggle to the balance at the report date (31/3/22) or the current date would help,35 votesHi everyone, thanks for showing your interest here. With the newer Aged Detail reports, you can achieve this by;
- Setting the date of the report to the date you want to include payments up to
- Click Filter
- Set an Invoice Date filter as 'any' - 'invoices raised up to date'
If this is something you'll commonly run you may want to save the report as custom so you can easily open the report anytime. You'll just want to remember to adjust the filter for the Invoice Date. 🙂

Reports: Remove merge cells when exporting to excel
Please don't merge any cells in the Excel export of reports 🙂
34 votesHey community! Thanks to everyone who added their votes and comments to this idea, and took the time to respond to our survey earlier in the year.
Based on this community's feedback, we've gone ahead and implemented Option A: Unmerge all cells today.
Now when you export to an excel file, you'll find that there are no merged cells.
Heads up! As a result of this change, if your business has an especially long legal name (more than 60 characters), you may need to manually merge and wrap cells for better printability 🖨️

Reporting: Profit and Loss report - Show all tracking categories in separate columns as default
Ability to show all tracking categories in separate columns in the P&L report.
Purpose: To get a better income figure when comparing different areas/divisions in Xero.
32 votesHi team, thanks again for all your feedback on the design and how you use tracking in your Profit & Loss.
As mentioned in my last post - we've just released a change to add the option to 'Compare tracking categories' from the main view in report settings, so you no longer have to jump into the layout editor. It's in the process of being rolled out to everyone, so if you don't quite have it yet it'll be with you in the next day or two. 😁
Once you've got the report set up as you like, if this is a view you'd like to use on the regular save as custom, and you could make this the default if you like, too!

Reporting: Aged Receivable Report - include customer credit limits and due dates of invoices
Ability to include customer credit limit and due dates of invoices in Aged Receivable report.
Purpose: To be able to get a better view of the customer’s ability to pay and the outstanding invoices.
29 votesHi community, rounding back from my last update - Credit Limits are now available to everyone within the Aged Receivables Summary report! 😊
💡You'll see a common format in the left side bar or can customise the general report to include Credit Limit and Available Credit as columns within your own layout - More detail on the report here
-
Reporting - Set report to print on one page
Ability to set reports to print on one page.
Purpose: To have a better visual and save more papers, as currently some reports can come out more than 1 page.
28 votesHey Community,
As part of our reports refresh, we’ve updated how reports look when printing directly from your browser - removing the larger margins mentioned in some of the comments.
Generally, we’d recommend either exporting to PDF or, as Russel has mentioned, exporting to an excel file for further refinement before printing.
However, if you do print directly from your browser, you’ll now find that the report is correctly aligned to the left of the page 😊
Thanks again for all your feedback around this idea!

Reports - Use custom report layout across all organisations
This is so customers can use the same custom made report layout for multiple entities.
22 votesHi everyone, appreciate your interest and sharing on the idea here. Right now Report Templates offer the ability to create a custom report layout that can be used in multiple organisations.
To access Report Templates you must be a Xero Partner, if you don't have one you can find one through the Xero advisor directory.

Profit and Loss report - Include account codes
Include account codes on profit and loss and balance sheet new reports, the same as you can with the old reports.
22 votesHi everyone, sorry we've not rounded into the idea here sooner! We've made some updates to the Profit & Loss as well as Balance Sheet reports where you'll find you now have options to select More and show Account code 🙂
