  1. Would it be possible to amend Xero settings, so that if you run a balance sheet to the end of February, the comparatives are also run to the end of previous month?

In February, my current month balance sheet is run to 28 February (Xero's choice) and Xero decides that means I also want to see the comparatives run to 28 January as a default setting.

As many month-end journals are posted to, say, 31 January, the balance doesn't include them.

This is very misleading: in any other month, the comparatives are run to the end of the month.

    It's…

Sorry Karen, not quite sure what's going on with your report there but I'd recommend coming into our specialists at Xero Support to have a closer look at your report settings.

Running for the full period of the month is the default so it should pick up all days for the month comparatives you're running the report for.

I've attached a test from the demo org - Setting the Date to 28 Feb, with compare for 2 months the report shows me the full months with columns for 31 Jan and 31 Dec.

  3. Changing subtitles on reports when changing the year end.
When shortening the year end, eg with Basis Reform periods, the year end is showing incorrectly as 'year end and the original year end date' rather than period end and the new year end date. It would be great to have the flexibility to amend subtitle dates within reports so that the accounts can be produced straight from Xero.

Hi team, sorry we haven't caught the idea here sooner. Listening to feedback we know the sub heading was a bit of a confusion point for organisation's with a longer or shorter FY.

We've recently made a change so the subheading will now read 'For the 'x' months ended' so the report will be more accurately reflected.

Thanks for your sharing on this with us here.

  4. In the old reports there was a bank report, (Detailed Account Transaction Report) that you could pull up the bank account and it would show the bank entries and where they had been coded. This is not longer available. Alternatively, could the code be added to the Bank reconciliation page where it shows the entries.

  5. It would be great to have the ability to run a report to show any bank transactions reconciled on a given date i.e any bank transactions that were reconciled on 7 August 2024, rather than clicking into individual transactions to see the audit trail

Hi Beth, appreciate it's been a little while since you first raised your idea here. This is actually already possible with the History & notes report.

If you set the date as you need, then in the Search bar type 'Reconciled'. This will quickly group and show you a list of the transactions that have been reconciled for that period, along with a few details of the reconciliation.

  6. Transaction/summary report for suppliers but showing history in aged format, to be able to report on what we;ve spent with a supplier for the last 12 months - Each month!

Xero really need to look at producing a report generator like sage had, so we can create any report we need.

  7. Add a quick option to create a manual journal entry to adjust the sales tax amount paid when reporting and filing sales taxes.

My state (and others, I assume) forces me to round up to the nearest dollar the amount of sales tax I owe when I file, which results in the filed number being different than what's in my "sales tax" account in Xero. I then have to add a manual journal entry to adjust that amount - usually debiting from one of my product categories.

It would be nice to have the option to do this automatically when…

Hi team, returning to confirm that we've now released an improvement so you can handle variances in the Sales tax amount payment and make sure this matches what is owed to the state. You'll find you can now record an adjustment when marking a State sales tax report complete. See more on this in Xero Central.

  10. Make W-9 request available from the contact page. Perhaps where financial details are manually entered. Why have to go over to the 1099 report?

Hi everyone, we've released a new 'Tax Details' section for US customers in Contacts that allows you to request W-9s from a contact you've set up in Xero. From this section you'll also be able to see a contacts W-9 status and manually update this if needed.

We've also added additional fields for 'Name on the income tax return' (previously 'Legal name') and 'Business or disregarded entity name' in Contacts to match the 1099 W-9 Management space.

Thanks for sharing and staying updated with us here through product ideas.😊

  11. When editing a report in the financial statements, it would be great if there was an option to preview just that page and not the whole document. Ie if editing balance sheet , have the option to open a pdf of just that page ( but keep the whole doc on a sept PDF- so two options)
Would just be so much faster to preview the actual page I'm working on, and not having to wait for the whole document to open, than scroll/find the bal sheet

Thanks for all your contributions and feeding back to the team on your needs in this space. I'm pleased to share that we have now released our new preview panel to all users.

When you open the layout editor of a report you'll see PDF preview of your report on the right hand side, so you can see how changes you're making to your report impact it 'on the fly'. 🥳

  12. Current volume limit is too low. I can't even run the account transaction report including all the account codes for the whole financial year. It's not ideal to run a few report and add together. Strongly recommend Xero increasing the volume limit for the report.

  13. Could we please create an Aged Creditor & Debtor reporting format for the Ageing Period Title to show "Current. 31-60 Days. 61-90 Days. 90+ Days. Total" . Clients doing Tenders are required to do use this format on reports.

Hi Judy, this is already possible with Aged Receivables Detail and Summary reports. You'll find within the Ageing section that you can adjust to choose the number of periods then you'd want to enter 30 and Days.

If this is your preferred view, you can save as custom to make this easily accessible.

  15. There is a need to manually edit the amount of GST paid instead of using Xero's calculation. For example, for credit card merchant fees, merchants calculate GST based on individual transactions and sum up the total GST payable, add onto the merchant fees for the total amount payable. As Xero calculate GST based on the total amount, there is a difference in the GST payable. Other accounting systems allows you to adjust, and it will automatically adjust the total amount. Without this feature, we have to use either rounding (for below 0.10c) or add a new line item. The problem…

Hi 👋 Xero calculates the GST on each line item in invoices, bills and other transactions. The GST is then rounded to the nearest cent. The total GST is the sum of these amounts.

We don't offer alternative rounding methods but if you have the global or Singapore versions of Xero you can enter a tax adjustment if you want to.

    Simply,

    1. Select the Tax Exclusive option in the Amounts are field.
    2. Edit the amount shown in the Tax Amount box - if this box isn't showing, click the + symbol next to the Tax Rate heading

We have more information in our article here.

Hi team, you could use the Account Transactions Report here. When you run this report, select the bank account, then sort the results by the relevant amount column, this will group any items for the same amount together.

  17. Xero to create a function that allows you to see a total of Direct Bill Payment charges through a specified time period (similar to running a report on a specific account type). It is a direct cost and therefore it should be very simple to obtain the information. At the moment there is no real visualization, you can only obtain the information by multiplying the amount of payments made in a certain period by £0.24. When handling client money, this means a report needs to be created separately outside of Xero to show in a transparent manner what has been…

Hey Theresa, thank you for raising this suggestion. Whilst there isn't a report dedicated to showing the Direct Bill payment fees, you can use the Account Transactions report to see the fees for a specified time period.

The payment fees are recorded as spend money transactions to the 'Payment Fee' account. Running the Account Transactions report on this account will show you the fees paid.

Hey Syed, you can mark any report as a 'Favourite' by selecting the star icon next to the Report name in your Accounting > Reports screen.

I've attached a screenshot as an example 😊

  20. Ability to show a variance column as a dollar value on a balance sheet report to show changes over the year and make it easier when inputting this data into another system for preparation of financial reports.
