Bank Rules - Copy Bank Rules
Ability to duplicate bank rules.
Purpose: To save time from having to set up the same bank rule for each bank account.
Hi everyone, there’s been plenty of great discussion around this idea, and we get how being able to copy bank rules would take a lot of repetition out of setup work.
It’s something we’d like to make happen, but with other priorities in this space right now hasn't been something we can add to the roadmap yet.
It may come to life as part of the ongoing improvements in the Bank Reconciliation area, and we'll defintiely let you know here if there's any progress.

My request would be the ability to use an existing bank rule as the base for a new rule - copy then edit . Often you have similar rules that need setting up with just minor changes to one part of the rule. --same point as Judy Meyer below- (This is different than the idea described in the heading of this thread - which can already be attained to an extent by selecting to apply the rule to all bank accounts - using the last drop down on the rule creation page)

Do we have this feature yet?
I'm surprised if we still do not have this feature. The need was raised in 2014. And now it's already 2023. -

Maybe a more general idea would be to provide import and export of the rules so major edits could be done more easily in eg excel

Or to create a similar rule in the same account

When a client changes bank accounts and my rules set by the payee field no longer work because the new account puts the value in the reference field. The lack of bank rule duplication/copy wastes so much time as I have to create a new version. I have a lot of bank rules where clients go to 30+ different suppliers and one bank rule covers all them because I have the field set to "payee".

Would be so helpful! Also the ability to copy a receive money rule and change to a spend money would be great for recording deposits/refunds

If one could copy a bank rule and just change the criteria. For Example If Criteria X AND Criteria Y then post to Contact X. Copy to New Rule and just Change X to A and Post to Contact A.

This would be a really useful idea - it's driving me mad that something so simple doesn't seem to be possible.

Also needed when you want the same rule to apply to multiple accounts, but not all accounts (unless you create an option to allow us to select multiple accounts when setting up the rules)

We still need this because different accounts put data in different fields. Example: transaction account puts data into description and credit card puts it into payee. Therefore I need to duplicate all rules and tweak the conditions by account
