Make bank account search consistent across all areas - enable mid-string matching in transfer reconciliation
Current behaviour:
When reconciling a transfer and searching for a bank account, the dropdown search only works if you enter text from the very start of the account name. For example, if I have an account called "Emerge COGS", I can only find it by typing "Emerge" - searching for "COGS" returns no results and causes the dropdown to glitch.
The inconsistency:
This search behaviour is inconsistent with other areas of Xero. When making a payment from a bill, the account search works with mid-string matching - searching for "COGS" correctly brings up "Emerge COGS". This creates confusion as users expect the same search functionality throughout the platform.
Why this matters:
Many of us organise our chart of accounts with prefixes for logical grouping (e.g., "Emerge COGS", "Emerge Overhead", "Client Trust - ABC Ltd"). When we're focused on the purpose of the account (like COGS or the client name), we naturally search for that term rather than remembering the prefix. The current limitation in transfer reconciliation slows down workflows and creates unnecessary friction.
Suggested improvement:
Implement the same flexible, mid-string search functionality in the transfer reconciliation account dropdown that already exists in the bill payment workflow. This would make the user experience consistent and significantly improve efficiency.
