Bank reconciliation
Can Xero relook the (re)creation of the bank transactions before posting i.e. recapturing "WHO, WHAT and WHY" on the right from bank feed left side; this is time consuming
It is much simpler and efficient to indicate allocation / classify the transaction instead of recapturing what bank feed has already loaded; similar to other current cloud packages

When viewing a specific transaction, have forward / reverse buttons to progress to next transaction without the need to exit and re-enter
When reconciling, I enter each transaction and ensure it is taxed correctly. At present I have to return to the main account transaction list, find my next transaction and enter that transaction each time.
It would be very handy to have a click through to the next transaction or click previous transaction buttons when viewing a specific transaction.

when allocating payments to invoices, would be helpful if xero selected the oldest invoice for the client not the most recently produced.
when allocating payments to invoices, would be helpful if xero selected the oldest invoice at that value rather than the most recent invoice raised for that client. We have a number of clients that have monthly invoices for same value (subscription/services etc) and Xero always suggests the most recent which isnt helpful.

Bank Reconciliation - Ability to allocate part bank payments to a full spend money transaction already entered
Ability to allocate part bank payments to a full spend money transaction already entered, instead of deleting the part payments and marking the full spend money transaction as reconciled

Add an extra button showing how many lines left to reconcile "Last month" "This month"
Show how many lines to reconcile per month:
I only use Xero once month, to do last months accounts. I know some people go in every day, or every few days and reconcile a few transactions, but I just do it all once a month and print the end of month reports. I am sure a large portion of people do this too.
I reconcile all previous months transactions, and run the reports. Say it is 8 April, I don't need to reconcile any transactions for April. I just want to close off March.
Therefore I want the blue "Reconcile…

Feature Request – Overpayment Query Workflow & Customer Communication
wanted to suggest an enhancement to how overpayments are handled within Xero.
In situations where we receive a customer overpayment that cannot be immediately allocated, the current process requires us to step outside of Xero to contact the customer and clarify what the payment relates to.
What would be highly beneficial is:
A built-in option to trigger an “Overpayment Query” email directly from within Xero.Proposed functionality:
A button/action against an overpayment (e.g. “Query Customer”)
Pre-populated email template including:
Customer name
Payment amount
Payment date/reference
Ability to customise the message before sending
Email sent directly from Xero and logged against…1 voteThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Ideas. We appreciate you taking time to let us know how we could improve Xero for you.

Bank Reconciliation - Automatic coding of transfers between bank accounts
It would be great if Xero could automatically do the transfer between Xero bank accounts.
This is our most time consuming and often error-prone coding in Xero when it should be a simple fix. Many clients still battle with this.21 votes -
Restrict reconciliation from initial screen
Option (in Settings) not to allow creation of new transaction to reconcile incoming payment and only allow reconciliation against either existing invoices or from the Match/Create form. We have had a couple of occasions where clicking OK in error on a transaction creates a new transaction that fully reconciles a payment leaving invoices unreconciled and sending overdue emails.

Bank reconciliation - Add attachment to Find & Match (multiple match) transactions
When reconciling transactions and Find & Match is used, usually for multiple matches, please add an attachment button.
In the example of one payment matched to multiple sales invoices, there is usually a remittance provided by the client that we need to file with the payment.
We shouldn't need to go back to a reconciled transaction and manually add the remittance to each line individually.132 votes -
Bank Reconcile- Allow editing of one line item of a batch deposit
Currently there is the inability to edit one payment in a batch deposit that was created from the Reconcile screen without dismantling the entire batch (with Unreconcile, and then Remove and Redo). If the batch Deposit is created from the Invoice screen and one line item needs adjusting, we have and option to Edit Batch. This allows for removing one line item of the batch but preserves the remainder of the batch (less the removed line item). Please add the Edit Batch function to batch deposits created in the Reconcile screen too! It is a big pain point when you…

Reconcile Period - Note Date of Accounts Dashboard Tile
When an account is reconciled and the report is created for the period, it would be nice if there was a little summary alert for the end date of the most recent report on the dashboard tile (i.e. reconciled up to and including 28 Feb 2025). This would help to make VERY clear immediately which accounts are reconciled to which date and help to plan which accounts need work or need a report and which are done for the reporting period you are working on.

CIS - Apply CIS to spend money transaction
When preparing monthly CIS returns on xero you need to create a bill for the subcontractor and reconcile/mark the bill as paid. When you have clients that have on average 80 to 120 subcontractors the bill creation even with a bill template can be time consuming.
Something to consider is whether creating a bill could be removed from this process and the CIS return be prepared simply from a spend money to a CIS enable contact.
Also something else that can be time consuming when dealing with this volume of subcontractors is downloading the monthly CIS payment certificates as clients…28 votes -
Bank Reconciliation - Sort statement lines by most recent date
I always want to reconcile my newest transactions first, as they are freshest in my head. It's actually become pretty maddening not having this feature.

Account Transactions - Edit transaction dates without remove & redo
I would like to be able to edit an entered transaction, i.e., transfer, payment, etc. When I am reconciling, some transactions are posted on the following month, but they were entered at the end of the prior month this creates a problem when reconciling. All I need to do is edit the date and change it, but I have to remove and redo the transaction. This is extremely time-consuming.
Also, could we change the bank account when we enter the transaction in the wrong registry instead of removing and redoing it?
6 votesHi Ana, out of interest is there a transaction type you generally find needing to use these actions? For example Spend money, Receive money or Payments applied to invoices and bills?
I've slightly amended the title of your idea for the date of the transactions, we have separate idea for changing the bank account you can join for any updates.

Find and Recode - Option to recode reference
Find & Recode - Reference field
There is an idea posted that says you can already add or change tracking through Find & Recode. I have just been advised in Help by a specialist that I cannot add or change the Reference field of the Invoice Number field for multiple transactions as a group. Even though the Find and Recode article online AND the answer to the previous idea says that you can. Having to manually update the Reference one by one on each transaction is frustrating and time consuming.3 votes -
Reconcile Period - Add Last Reconciliation Date for Quick Reference
When using the Reconcile Period feature for clients with multiple bank accounts, it is time-consuming to click in and out of each account to check if reconciliation is needed. It can also be difficult to remember which account you left off on, especially when reconciling at different times throughout the month.
Displaying the ending date of the last reconciled period next to "Reconcile Period" and/or on the dashboard would provide a quick overview of the last reconciliation for each account, improving efficiency.

Bank rule - Ability to set up overpayments to a supplier
We have standing orders set up for multiple properties for water rates, business rates, electricity and rent all of which are invoiced quarterly/six monthly/annually.
Can we have the ability to create bank rules for supplier overpayments to a contact??
