  1. I would like to be able to send a bank/xero link to connect the AMEX credit card feeds or other banks that enable linking via internet banking, rather than having to add the client as a user in Xero first to be able to connect bank feeds via a link. This seems to complicate the signing of completed financials and tax returns sent from xero to the client for signature. It asks them to login (when their email is connected with a Xero account just so they could link internet banking) and many clients are finding it frustrating.

  2. We have to use find and recode each month for adjusting certain batches of transactions. These are the same combination of searches used monthly to find and recode.

It would be useful to be able to name and save or favourite search criteria for quick recall each month. (Looking back at previous searches is ok, but not obvious which is which until you click into them).

  3. Can we please have a Parent and Child relationship on the accounts to ease cash allocations. At the moment we are getting 1 payment that covers multiple accounts.

We work with Schools and get payments from Councils and Academy's. These payments go across multiple schools and payments are currently allocated 1 invoice at a time.

It would be helpful to have a Parent account / Hierarchy account or to put the Council/Academy name within the individual school account on Xero and put the Parent/Hierarcy name within the "Find & select matching transactions" - "Search by name or reference"

  4. Bank statement search needs to allow the user to filter the search by spent or received as the amounts elements apply to both spent and received.

Also - please fix the bug with status being ignored by the search.

  5. If you have multiple invoices for the same client, a feature that allows you the option to automatically apply bank transactions receiving money from the client to the oldest invoices first moving closer to date would be mighty helpful. At the current moment, we have to manually split out each transaction to the invoices when reconciling bank transactions; it stands to reason that if you have a client with multiple invoices and they pay off in chunks, you would want to apply payments to their oldest debt first; having this as a selectable option for a contact / bank rule…

  8. Bank Reconciliation suggestions. The ability for Xero to identify a name within a customer contact and match it to the name on the bank feed and suggest this as a match. for example John Smith is the contact for ABC pty ltd. when he makes payment he only references John Smith. Xero will recognise John smith is a contact for ABC pty ltd and suggest their invoice in the bank rec.

Hi everyone, thanks for your votes on this idea. While we're always interested in integrating with more banks, the most effective way to get a new feed established is for customers to request it directly from their bank. The more that SumUp hears from its own customers that a Xero integration for bank feeds is needed, the more likely they are to work with us to build one.

For now, you can manually import your SumUp transaction data into Xero using QIF, OFX, or CSV file types. You can find detailed instructions on how to do this in the Xero Central article below.

This idea is open for voting and comments, and we'll continue to keep an eye on the interest for this idea here.

  10. I’m moving from an existing system to Xero, so need to enter my new data into Xero for the current financial year which the accountant then files with HMRC. But at the same time I need to import my older data without affecting the current filings. All the accountant can do is to lock the accounts from a date backwards, which means I cannot enter my old data.
All I want is to be able to lock financial years, enter the old data and then use Xero to identify if the accountant needs to make any future adjustments.

  11. Bank Transfers - they are great and easy - but it would be awesome if we could just improve them in the following ways - some of these suggestions incorporates other suggestions - but thinking if you are working on improving this functionality - it would be great to do it all at once. Currently when you create a transfer from the Bank feed - you can only select a bank account and enter a reference - it would be great if you could also, add tracking code(s) on that screen too (as currently if you need to attach tracking…

  12. Hi there,
Is there any way you could integrate the photos I put on my Starling Bank account of receipts I receive for purchases for my business account, so that I don't have to enter them twice, once on Starling and once on Xero.
I realise this is not an option, as it's not happening, but the notes I add do come through, so could the photos too?
In this new digital paperless world, it would be good not to have to keep every receipt and have to remember to photograph it twice. Hubdoc doesn't help, because you still have…

Hi Lynda, thanks so much for taking the time to share this excellent suggestion. Automatically importing receipt photos from your bank directly into Xero is a great idea, and we can certainly see how much time that would save you.

As you've pointed out, you can also import your receipts into Xero by using Hubdoc.

For transparency, the direct bank feed for Starling Bank was developed and is maintained by the team at Starling. This means they control the type of data—like the transaction date, amount, and notes—that is sent through the feed to Xero. For that reason, the best way forward is to make this feature request directly to Starling Bank, as they are in the best position to add this functionality to the feed they provide.

We’ll keep this idea open on our forum to continue gathering interest here.

  13. Switch Banks from the left sidebar. People need to go to Dashboard, click a bank, then have access to the drop down menu of banks, but this is slow and not as useful as having all the banks and credit card accounts listed on the left sidebar with ability to switch.

  14. Some bank feeds have transaction details where the bank uses a debit card reference or DF reference in the PAYEE, the reference will contain the actual PAYEE name, for example the PAYEE field will have 1234-XXXX-XXXX-1234 or 123456789DF and the reference will show the actual PAYEE. Can Xero replace the PAYEE name with the actual PAYEE if it sees the above numbers. Too many clients are not replacing the numbered PAYEE and trying to recognise the PAYEE is proving time consuming as clients are not recording the PAYEE with the correct details

Hi Bip, mapping of details from your bank statement to fields in Xero are dependent on your bank institution and feed. A change in this regard is a change for all users with that same type of bank account feed and I want to be open that this isn't something that can be changed on an individual basis.

  15. When selecting Remove and Redo for Spend transactions, all attachments are lost.
If the attachments are receipts that were photographed using the Xero app, they are not kept on the Xero app either.
This means that selecting Remove and Redo is the same as throwing the original receipt in the shredder, not just in the bin to potentially be retrieved later.
A pop-up warning asking if you'd like to save the attachments to the File Library before removing and redoing would avoid the loss of the transaction's supporting documentation.

  16. In the customer under account transactions it shows the list of invoices and payments. Against unallocated overpaymentsit shows the status of 'Awaiting Payment' why? we are not awaiting the payment it is shown there.

    Awaiting allocation maybe.

Anyway this caused confusion for our sales guy who had goods arrive for a proforma customer, he saw 'Awaiting payment' and thought they had not yet paid so he did not ship the goods, (Accounts were not in to tell him) He did not see the words overpayment or even if he had, he was not accounts so would he understand it? He…

  17. Overpayments should appear in the Find & Match for Customers.
If a customer pays their correct amount owing, but an overpayment on their account hasn't been allocated against an invoice, it is impossible to reconcile.
Users have to go into Contacts, check if there is an overpayment, allocate the overpayment against an invoice then go back into the Bank Reconciliation page.
Users should be able to tick the invoices being paid and the overpayment that was used to reconcile in Find & Match.

  18. Unlock Accts Receivable and Accts Payable GL accounts. Currently unable to enter AJEs that require it. Even our auditors are asking why we cannot do this in Xero as with other accounting systems. Previously Xero responded by saying it's an account integrity issue...but accounting is an integrity issue! Too many hours wasted trying to work around this (and please don't suggest creating another account, as in Accts Rec 2)

Hi community, thanks for continuing to engage, and sharing your needs in adding more layers to your chart of accounts structure.

We know especially for some of our US customers that this can sometimes be a show stopper in using of Xero.

Right now, we do have a product team that have begun exploring the efforts that'd be required to implement a change of this nature - while we can't commit to any development at this point we'll share any progression with you all here. Thanks

  20. When I enter a reference in batch deposit, this does not pull through to the bank reconciliation. On the bank reconciliation report, the Description is "Payment: multiple items" and the Reference field is blank. This is not useful as I have to go into each transaction and see which company the receipt has come from. Why enter a reference when it does not appear on the bank reconciliation report? When I try to search to match deposits using the company name, these deposits do not appear as the Description is unhelpful. If there are smaller batches which add up to…
