Thanks for the confirmation, Sally. We have some current work underway with the email send modal in invoices, however I want to be open that at the time the team are not extending to add new placeholders that can be used.
For now, as you may have found you can edit the default email to add the Contact Account Number before sending the invoice. Appreciate wanting something more automated and we'll continue to track the interest of this idea and share if there's any development.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dean Wilson commentedAll, we utilize a bank lockbox service. The bank creates a batch deposit that comes into our bank account register as a lump sum.
We receive a PDF report of all of the deposited checks (and check stubs). We wrote a utility that extracts the information from the PDF, uses the information to match payments to customers with outstanding invoices (leveraging the Xero API). The daily lockbox deposits run from 1-200 checks. We usually automatically match about 70%-80% payments to a customer's invoice(s). Probably would be higher, but the information from the bank lockbox report often contains errors on check routing numbers, account numbers, etc.
A deposit of 50 checks usually takes about 10-15 minutes to post.
This same utility could be leveraged to utilize CSV/XLSX data files for batch deposits.
Wondering if anyone would be interested in this an application?
Current features
- Stores information for three bank accounts to one customer
- Allows for overpayments to be posted to a customer's account
- Allows for one check to be posted to multiple accounts - we deal with property managers that have as many as 200 properties, all of which are set up as separate customer accounts in Xero.
- Searching by specific invoice numbers for when the name on the check does not match the Xero customer name.Thoughts?

Account Transactions: Receipts - Send automated 'payment received' e-mail when payment is reconciled
331 votesHi all, appreciate and understand the support in being able to automate processes such as communication of payment received with a customer.
Though seemingly simple there are a few complexities that'd need to be accommodated for when considering the solution here - such as behaviour for re-reconciliations (Remove & redo has been used), split transactions or Mark as reconciled is used.
Our product teams in this area are working on building on beautiful experiences throughout Bank Reconciliation, which you'd have have experienced this first with the Reconcile tab and they are now moving through other pages and features in Bank Rec - This'll take some time and with that at the fore-front right now we want to be upfront that we don't have immediate plans to add an automated email when a transaction line is reconciled.
As we embark work on the Account Transactions tab we'll be able to revisit…
An error occurred while saving the comment Dean Wilson commentedWe have implemented for our own internal use. (We built an application that connects through API). We can send invoices, statements and payment receipts from our company domain.
Would anyone be interested in this as a service bolted onto Xero?
Feature set envisioned:
- Send from multiple email accounts on the same domain (i.e., company.com)
- Send invoice
- Send statement
- Send invoice payment receipt (customer paid invoice)
- Send payment notice to vendor with line-item detail in CSV file of payment sent (works great for printed checks with more than 9 lines of detail on check stub)
- Optional email address verification service to minimize bounced messages
- We would tie into your email server/service via security configurationThoughts?

Hi community, first off thank you for the continued interest and feedback surrounding this idea. We’re continuing to build on the bank reconciliation experience in Xero and recognise the ways this feature will help improve the efficiency, flexibility and transparency of transactions in your business. Our team have done a lot of exploration into being able to surface and match Credit Notes when reconciling your bank account in Xero, and this is now in development.
We’ll shift the idea here into ‘Working on it’ and continue to update as there’s more detail of this to share.

An error occurred while saving the comment Dean Wilson commentedI would request it be from the Bank Accounts > Accounts Transactions page, where it says " Description or contact name" Better yet would be the universal search.

Hey community, thank you for your continued interest in this idea.
Wanted to provide an update here as it's been a while since we last spoke to duplicate contacts.
I do understand that, at face value, this seems like a quick fix. However, as the contacts screen interacts with many other parts of Xero, this work can not commence until the modernisation of other, related systems is complete.
Due to this, we do not expect support for duplicate contacts to be delivered in the coming short-term.
In the meantime however, we're keen to continue collecting feedback and votes on this idea, and I will update you here as soon as there's more work to share.
An error occurred while saving the comment Dean Wilson commentedWe have a case were we have three distinct customer companies with the exact same name. (This name is shared by at least 130 companies in the trucking industry).
Anything we could to do to support this feature would be great. (there is a GUID identifier number for every customer record, so in theory it would be possible)
