Sorry to hear you're not liking the refresh of the Files inbox, Felicity. The intention is to make managing and working with your files simpler and more efficient.

Just to confirm, when you say this has added extra clicks for you - would that be the need to go to the Archived tab to access a fioder you've moved a file to?

What upset me most was the word 'Archive'. The word is not appropriate as it implies old paperwork no longer in use, but needing to be kept for taxation and company law reasons. I would never look for current records in an area marked 'Archive' and so my first reaction was alarm because I thought all my files were gone.
Xero have said the thinking behind this change was to better separate the older from the newer additions - well we can already sort by clicking on the 'Uploaded' column header to sort by date, and we also have the option of naming our files by date.
I think this change is a means of pacifying all those asking for the ability to create sub-folders that open from main folders. However it falls far short of what we actually want. Something that was relatively straight-forward is now taking on the appearance of a rabbit warren and I can't see any benefits whatsoever. I am no longer able to drag and drop files to the folder of my choice. Instead, I have to send them to the inbox and move them from there. With many hundreds of files to be moved constantly, this is going to slow me down a lot. Totally unnecessarily.

Hi Olga - LOVE your response!

Very pithy comments and I am wondering if our answers come from A.I. Not very I. if you ask me.

Hi everyone, we'd like to return with an update for all who've supported the idea for attaching files within Payroll.

As we develop foundations of payroll to enable us to consider new features like this, we're beginning discovery of how we might build this capability and when this could be planned in our roadmap.

This is just the initial stages of diving deeper into this work, but steering in the right direction.

I'll be sure to share any progression around attachments within payroll with you all, here.

As Helen Price has just commented - so many of us want to see this, and SOON!

Thank you for all sharing and adding your vote for the idea, here. We know our customers find great use in Xero Files and developing the ability to create sub folders in Xero Files is something the team are planning to take a deeper dive into in the coming months. For now, we'll move the idea to Under review and I'll come back with more news when this picks up. 😊

I would really like to see this too. I find it pretty frustrating at the moment because as the years go by the File area becomes congested and it is harder to find what you want.

Hi everyone, we appreciate the interest surrounding this idea, however we want to be open that we're unable to extend our log-out time past 60 minutes. Xero hold a lot of sensitive information including bank data and we're required to be as secure as online banking.
Any session information running on a web browser can potentially be stolen. If the session does not time out. You then have an infinitely long vulnerability window to session hijacking. Our best option is to keep a tight expiration window on the session cookie, and regenerate them frequently. Even setting a long timeout doesn't help with this - too long a timeout will greatly increase the risk of invasion or potentially jeopardise your personal data and the safety and integrity of the Xero application itself. This is why we maintain control of this.
If we detect there's been no activity on a page (e.g…

I'd absolutely love to see this happen. Has it been developed yet? I find it pretty frustrating to be logged out against my will all the time.
Being logged out after a certain amount of time should be an option, not the default.
