648 votesThanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)
We know that bulk operations can be handy, however at this time we have no plans to develop this functionality. We know it might seem like a small feat, however often even small change is more tightly woven and intricate to solve beneath the surface.
While we understand this must be frustrating to hear, we’re currently focused on making improvements in other areas of Xero and are unable to prioritise a bulk download or print feature right now.
However, in situations like these there are often connected apps through the Xero App Store that may be able to assist. We appreciate and will revise solutions that could fulfil needs in this space, but want to be honest this isn’t something we have plans for…An error occurred while saving the comment Aileen Asche

commentedI would like to be able to download all the attachments I've put in Xero each year as a backup in case Xero ever goes down or I need to provide to an auditor. Downloading them one at a time isn't a good use of time so a bulk download would be really nice.

110 votesHi everyone, we appreciate the support we've received through this idea. Without beating around the bush we don't have any short term plans for enabling the import of spend and receive money transactions. This may be something we look into further down the track so we'll continue to track and review the idea here. For Xero Partners you could look to use the Conversion toolbox to import bank transactions for your clients. An error occurred while saving the comment Aileen Asche

commentedI accidentally flagged this an inappropriate but that was by accident! I think this is very important to be able to import into Xero without having it hit the bank reconciliation lines. I want to be able to import all the payroll checks that were issued by paper check (entering as spend money transactions) without having to put in one by one. Then when the checks clear they would match to the bank feed or imported statement line. We can import so many other things... why not spend/receive money transactions? Aileen Asche

563 votesThanks for sharing and showing interest in how we can develop user roles to suit your needs when using Xero. With many varying ideas for roles and permissions in different areas of our products, user roles impact all areas of the product. There are many factors we must consider when addressing how to solve for majority of our customers needs. We’re in the process of conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. This being one of our highest voted ideas surrounding roles is a specific focus for the team. too. Discovery of this work is its first stages and will be long running. There will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space. We value our customers input and would like to… An error occurred while saving the comment Aileen Asche

commentedXero is proving to not be a great choice for accounting software if you want any kind of control or limit on access for your team besides AR/AP entry. Aileen Asche

163 votesHi everyone, thanks for your contributions to this idea. We appreciate your feedback about the challenges in ensuring all billable costs are recovered, and your desire for an improved experience. As noted by others in the idea, there are some features that will give some visibility of billable expenses at present. - You can 'View bills not assigned to projects', and
- there is the Outstanding billable expense report as some have shared which shows outstanding items you've assigned as billable to customers
Understanding the value more visibility of unassigned bills would have for customers, this is something we’ll continue to review in future planning but isn’t in the current roadmap. We'll be sure to update you all if this gets picked up. An error occurred while saving the comment Aileen Asche

commentedThis would be helpful. There is currently no way to check to verify expenses have been billed without opening up every single expense or bill manually to see if it's been assigned to a customer.

220 votesThanks for all your feedback around being able to issue progress payments on sales invoices. Right now as noted by others in the idea, one option for processing progress payments in Xero could be to use a draft invoice to keep track of the total amount, and using Copy to create new invoices for each progress payment, linking them back to the original project or quote in the description. It’s not a perfect solution, but may help manage the process. We've been listening to your feedback and know there are multiple ways businesses operate - and we're exploring solutions for these workflows such as progress payments, and additionally, the ability to accept a deposit from a single invoice. While we're unable to provide timeframes around this just yet, please know that this is a priority to us and we'll keep you updated on the progress through this idea. commentedMy client would like to be able to create a quote or invoice for an entire project and then bill % or flat amounts against it. They would also like to be able to see the estimate for the whole project, how much has been billed, paid and how much remains to be billed. I used to do this easily in QuickBooks but I can't figure out how to get this functionality in Xero. I have tested out Xero projects but it doesn't seem to be possible there either unless I'm doing something wrong.

I don't know of any accounting softwares that offer this feature so I'm not that surprised Xero isn't going to make it happen. In case it's helpful to anyone, you CAN do bulk downloads from Hubdoc or Dext or BILL if you are using those for document collection.
