Hey community, we know how this feature would really help reduce manual work, make reconciliation smoother, and give you more confidence when processing your bills, and managing orders.

Some customers have shared a possible solution for the time being of using the bill’s reference field for the PO number. We know this isn’t perfect, but might help in the interim.

I’m pleased to share that we’re refreshing purchase orders at present, and taking on board all the feedback surrounding the top requests from our customers in these forums.

Linkage between Purchase orders and Bills is a high focus for our team in this space. While we can’t give timelines atm, we’ll move the idea to In discovery and keep you updated as work progresses. 😊

We have also been putting the PO number in the ref field for some years now. It works OK, we put the ref at the start and use SUMIFs offline via excel top reconcile the POs it is a lot of offline work to see what was left on PO or if the invoice went over the PO amount etc for it to be queried. It's reassuring to hear XERO is working on this as we have been looking at alternative software for PO tracking.

We appreciate everyone that's contributed here. Needs in more incremental permissions for bank accounts, have been clearly highlighted in your feedback - from protecting the confidentiality of payroll information to securely delegating reconciliation tasks for specific accounts.

Leaning in from our last update, our product teams have conducted lots of research of existing user roles, to highlight the most critical areas work is needed to power up our customers use of Xero.

Reporting and inventory are our first areas of priority, and you may have seen recent updates across ideas for these areas.

Permissions to bank accounts is another area that stood out in our research, but has more dependencies and will take longer to develop.

We'll keep you updated as our journey with roles and permissions evolve and there's more in the space of banking to share with you all.

Hi is there any update on this? I am unable to delegate a lot of admin tasks because I don't want to give out access to our bank accounts. Which would give users view of director dividends paid, salary levels paid etc. Many other companies must have the same issue

Any more updates on this please XERO? I continue to do admin tasks that I should be able to give to our admin staff to do but I can't without giving them full access to sensitive company information - its crazy how this isn't a priority.

I'm looking at Sage Line 50 at the minute which seems like the logical step up from XERO it is more expensive you get what you pay for I guess but going to trial it next week.

Basically Xero are currently spending a lot of time working on the 'look' of the software rather than the functionality. I'm very disappointed that after hiring an accounts admin I can't ask her to post journals otherwise she will have access to a lot of sensitive information. Doing month end accounting journals are part of a low level accountancy role. To have access to a whole host of information just to post a journal seems crazy to me. Yet again another work around needs to be done. She will just have to fill in a template for me to upload. Until xero work on this...

Hi everyone, thanks for providing your thoughts on this idea. We appreciate you sharing how important a CSV payment file is, as some banks don't accept the BACS file.

You might have seen from a related idea that our product team is currently testing a new feature to allow direct wage payments from Xero payroll.

While this is not exactly what you’re suggesting, an integrated payment feature would defeat the need for manual payment file exports. We'll be back to share more updates on this.

As mentioned below its crazy that bills can be downloaded to CSV but payroll cannot. I therefore can upload my supplier bills into Barclays but I am struggling with payroll another manual task from using XERO.

Hi community, I’d like to share the new Xero Central page for new invoicing that we noted was coming.

Along with updates to individual ideas on the site here, this page will become the one source for key feature rollouts including:

    • what’s available in new invoicing right now,
    • timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
    • a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.

We'll be updating this page regularly.

Remember, you can keep switching between the two products between now and September. Thanks

After reading Kelly's comments it is clear that XERO isn't listening. Its not just about the invoicing its that our ideas are completely ignored. It's pointless even gibing us the option to submit ideas.

    - the user permissions are very limited. I can't give my admin staff a lot of admin tasks because by doing so I need to give them full access to very sensitive information
-Marking bills in dispute - honestly why isn't this done yet it has been raised multiple times
-Bank rec's are only 10 lines
    - Reporting is very limited I'm having to buy addons to do basic reports

There are many more suggestions that are ignored for years but these are the ones the affect me the most. We are only a small business therefore I don't know how medium businesses cope with xero. Do they just go elsewhere? As soon as you need more admin staff the system is useless due to the user permissions being very limited

I would be happy to pay a higher fee for more functionality in xero.

Also can everyone please vote at the top of the page

Hi Has this now been done? I can't figure out how to give my invoice only users access to the connected app function. Basically I want them access to business importer which will streamline a lot of processes.

The app however is useless if I can't give anyone access without giving them access to very sensitive information

Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.

We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.

In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:

    • Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
    • Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.
    • Adjust the due date: Temporarily extending the due date can prevent accidental payment while the dispute is…

Why has no one from XERO commented on this since Nov 2022? It is the third top suggestion in terms of votes. Comments weekly. What is the point in inputting suggestions if xero just ignores them.

The sheer volume of comments and votes on this thread I am shocked that XERO is not looking at this. It is a basic accounts function

A tick box to mark 'on hold'

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this idea. We appreciate you sharing how important more granular CIS tracking is for your businesses. Some of you have mentioned that you currently use tracking categories to achieve the breakdown required, we understand however this may be suitable for everyone.

After review, we're updating this idea to Not in the pipeline, meaning our product team has considered it but it's not on our foreseeable roadmap. We know this isn't the update you were hoping for, and the idea will remain open for votes so we can continue to gauge community interest.

I would like this feature for construction retention. Currently I am accruing the retention each month because the Gross should show in the P&L but if I could put retention to the B/S and have CIS tax deducted from that code it would save the hassle to accrue I could put retention straight to the retention liability code,
