We appreciate wanting to see more rapid movement, everyone. Having done a lot of exploration into this area our team have a good handle on the needs to solve this, however we want to be honest that development will be some time away with the team currently focused on improving bills list views and updating add/edit bill pages. For the time being to keep you up to date we're going to move this idea back to Submitted until more active work takes place for this.
I can assure you this idea is the best place to be leaving feedback for this feature, and Xero Product Ideas as a whole is the best place to be sharing where you'd like to see change across Xero products. Hi team, appreciate not exactly what's being asked here but to confirm what's available at present.
In the Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss you can now show Account code through the More option. From here, use the layout editor to drag & drop accounts to the order you'd like.
Once set up deselect the option to show Account code and your ordering will remain while the codes are not shown within the report.
You can also Save as custom so you can then access this layout anytime you need.
To go deeper with the insights for our team here, it's be good to know the specific reports you're wanting to see this feature in.

Thank you for your engagement on this idea. To help explain a little on how this works in the Account Transactions(AT) report - what shows in the Description field when running the report is dependent on the type of account you're running the report for.
For example, when running the AT report for a bank account, transactions will show the Contact name in the Description field. This is because the detail that is entered on each description line in the body of a transaction relates to the account the line item is coded to.
To see the detail, you'll need to run the report for the account code, not the bank account. This is also how the report works for some other accounts such as the system sales tax account, Account Receivable, and Accounts Payable.

An error occurred while saving the comment Matthew Corey commentedCould agree more. It seems redundant and pointless to have contacts option, but then in the description field include the contact.
When doing searches or trying to group like transactions, it becomes more difficult because the contact detail is included in the report which means you can't then sort by pure line description as the contact details get in the way.
IE You might want to search for a group of similar transactions that are associated with specific actions - IE flights for specific employees, but the flights are spread across 3 different suppliers, you can't easily group all of these flights for that 1 employee together because it the contact name gets in the way.

Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been shared with, and considered by, our product team - so they have an understanding of the work that would be required for this.
We'd like to confirm that, at this stage, the automatic generation and sending of reports is not something we have plans to develop in the near term. We are still interested to get a clearer understanding of demand for this feature, and we'll continue to track this through the conversation and votes on this idea. If there's any change we will let you know!

An error occurred while saving the comment Matthew Corey commentedI love this idea, and it should already be available, unfortunately I think we can all agree that Xero just aren't going to do it anytime soon. They are too focused on redesigning reports and other "Improvements" which only align to their desires, not their customers needs, wants and desires.
It's the one continuous theme I have noticed is that the Xero team only focus on their own internal desires for the software, and pay little attention to the needs of their customers.

Hi everyone, leading on from my last update we have now released improvements to eInvoicing for those in the UK! With the latest change you'll now find we've made it easier for you to opt-in to receive your Xero subscription bill via eInvoicing. You can now do this from your online invoice (My Bills page) instead of through the Billing contact page. Helping save you time and reduce manual data entry every month.😁
We understand there are other regions that'd still like to see this functionality developed and we'll shift back to submitted and share when there is news of moving this further afield.
We also wanted to address the recent comment of data sharing - We'd like to confirm that Xero do not share data with Peppol.com. We use the Peppol network and the subscription invoices are sent using our wholly owned provider, Tickstar.Matthew Corey supported this idea · -

Thanks for your support on the idea, everyone. We thoroughly appreciate your participation, and letting us know where you'd like to see change across Xero.
Customer statements, is an area of Xero that needs upgrades to it's technology in order to make ideas like this one here possible.
Currently, while we have plans for modernising this space soon we cannot commit to any new developments for Statements until this work has been complete. Once this has been done I'll round back to the idea here when we can reset the objectives.

The more I'm seeing of the new reporting formats, the more I'm realising that the internal team at Xero have zero care for the thoughts/desires/needs/wants of their external customers and have had aimed to get zero input from it's customers and just do what they want without any real consultation with it's users to see whether they ideas are good ideas and warranted or not.
