Hi community, some time passed since our last update in the thread here we do want to return and share - while our product teams explored possibilities for how we might represent Purchase Orders in Projects research has confirmed that there is underlying work needed to the platform Purchase Orders are built on before we can achieve any good outcomes of your needs here.
We have enthusiasm and a close eye remaining on the support for this, but want to be honest that this is not something that we’ll be able to focus our attentions on in the near future.
Once we have completed work first needed in the Purchase Orders space we can reassess how to integrate purchase Orders into Projects and will update you all of steps forward, here.Blair Hicken supported this idea ·

Hi Tristan, thanks for sharing such a detailed and well-thought-out suggestion. We appreciate you taking the time to explain the specific accounting impact and how this would improve financial visibility.
We've reviewed your idea for having approved Purchase Orders post to the general ledger and integrate with Xero Projects. This suggestion is now ready to gain support and feedback from other community members.
Along with votes, others can now comment on how having this visibility of committed costs could improve their own project management and financial forecasting in Xero. 🙂

Projects - Quotes & invoices list view - Include Reference field from quote or Invoice. Currently, the Quotes & invoices live view only shows the quote or invoice number, so getting any information requires 'Opening' the quote or invoice.
Including the Reference field will provide more information when using this list window without having to click into the document. There is ample space on the existing list to add this information. -

Project - Indicator on Bills list to show bills allocated (even partially) to Projects
We have Vendors where all or the majority of their bills should be allocated to projects. Currently you have to open each Bill to see if any bill line has been allocated to a Project.
Having an indicator in the Bills > List > All page and the Contact > Activity > Bills page would be helpful to ensure that each bill has been allocated to a Project.
Alternatively, having a filter or Report (that can be exported) for Bills that have or have not been assigned to a Project.

We have Vendors where every invoice should be assigned to an Project. We would like an indicator in the Bills List and Contacts Activity list to show which bills have been assigned to Projects.

Project - Vendor Contact - "Bills not assigned to projects" view - When reviewing the list of bills under a Vendor Contact, have the ability to show "Bills not assigned to projects".
The Purchase Overview - "Bills not assigned to projects: view, is great; however, it can be an overwhelming list. It is easy to miss some vendors' bills when assigning them to a project.
Many of our Vendors' bills should be always be assigned to projects, and it would be great to have the same "Bills not assigned to projects" from the Vendor Contact. This way, we can ensure that all the Vendors' invoices have been correctly costed to the projects.
