    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on pre-tax deductions for salary sacrifice schemes like WorkRide. We appreciate you sharing how you’re currently managing these.

    Currently you can achieve the result of a pre-tax deduction in Xero payroll by using a Discretionary Payment category pay item and entering the deduction amount as a negative figure. Gross earnings are effectively reduced, eliminating the need for PAYE adjustments.

    We recognise that this workaround may not be a perfect fit for all schemes. While this feature is not yet on our immediate roadmap, we have updated its status to Accepted. This ensures it is flagged for formal consideration by our product team during future planning cycles. We'll keep you updated as things progress and value your continued input.

    It would be great if this payroll feature was implimented - it is available in the Australian payroll for novated lease on vehicles, so you it would seem Xero already has a template to base the NZ feature on (I know things in software are not always as simple as they may appear ).

    David Reynolds' suggested work around by using a discretionary Payment only appears to work if you set the template to $nil, then manually add the negative amount into each payrun, as the pay template will not take a negative figure when i try it.
    Has anybody made this work, other than manually adding the negative figure each payrun?

    Thanks
    Paul

    Thanks for raising the idea with us here, community.

    Currently, there's no functionality in Xero to have a single row have two different formulas for each column, or have two columns appear when grouped. (Example, the 2024 column cannot be calculated with 33% tax if the formula for the row is calculated with 39%)

    Right now as Paul's noted 🙏, we'd recommend using a 'Custom' row in the Notes report and have the row heading be similar to 'Tax Payable (33% 2024, 39% 2025)'.

    In doing so, you'll then be able to manually input the figures into this section of the notes report after you click 'Update layout'.

    We don't have any immediate plans for developing this capability, but I want to assure you interest for this has been shared with our product team and we'll update you if there's any news.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your engagement and support for adding a quantity column to reports in Xero. We understand there are differing reasons around wanting to add quantity to a report, like being able to track fuel for tax credits, livestock numbers, or hours worked for carbon reporting.

    There's a specific idea for Livestock reporting that we'd recommend anyone interested in this joins.

    To highlight, quantity can be added within the following reports within Xero right now;
