Appreciate the differing makeups of our customers and the improvements you see that would help your use of Xero.
I want to be open that we don't have planned changes for adding a discount option within Inventory items themselves atm but we will continue to watch the trend in this idea and share if there is any change.

I think this is really important - to have a tick box within each item where you can select if the item needs to be excluded from discounts. Nearly every other platform does this so I dont see why this isnt already a feature.

Hi community, we acknowledge the strong feelings in this idea and why you need a feature to flag bills directly within Xero. We really appreciate all your feedback and the detailed explanations of how this would help streamline your accounts payable.
We are dedicated to providing a solution for this over the longer term, but this will take some time requiring changes that sit beneath the face of bills.
In lieu of a direct feature for this we wanted to highlight some of the options discussed by the community here:
- Add a note to the bill: A detailed note on the bill itself can serve as a clear internal reminder of the dispute.
- Utilise tracking categories: Creating a specific tracking category like "Disputed Bills" can help you filter and report on these items.
- Adjust the due date: Temporarily extending the due date can prevent accidental payment while the dispute is…

Hi community, thank you for feeding back about how a paid-invoice notification could reduce manual checking and follow-ups, as well as help you move orders forward once payment is received.
Our teams have done some initial discovery and are looking more broadly at our notifications framework across Xero.
To be transparent here - a notification specifically for when an invoice is paid isn’t in our near term plans at this stage, but we’ll share an update if there’s meaningful progress as notifications continue to evolve.

This really needs to be a feature, especially for business's taking deposits for jobs that require materials to be purchased ONCE the deposit has been paid, without notification, this can get very messy and result in unhappy customers because of extended lead times that could have been avoided with a simple 'paid' notification

Hi Molly, though we don't have intentions of developing the exact same functionality as competitors, we are working on a feature to help you get paid without having to chase.
You can register your interest for this now. You'll be able to turn this on for your preferred contacts. JAX will monitor open invoices and create a personalised plan for each customer.
Customers will receive a consolidated statement and a well timed nudge. 🙂

This filter option would be really helpful for us as each department having to search through all the bills to find theirs to approve is really time consuming.

Account Transactions: Receipts - Send automated 'payment received' e-mail when payment is reconciled
564 votesHi everyone, we totally get how automating the sending of receipts when a transaction is reconciled would free up time and the manual task involved in this activity.
Though not in the pipeline at present, this is a feature our product team would like to explore more in the future.
We’ll be sure to update you all again when we are able to look into this deeper. Thanks

This would be a super beneficial thing for a lot of businesses, not just to let customers know we have received and allocated their payments but we would also be able edit the template for the automated email to ask for a review which would be very beneficial for a lot of small businesses.

Hi community, we appreciate your continued feedback on having different default email addresses for various transaction types in Xero contacts, and the manual steps involved to ensure you're communicating with the right person for different purposes.
Currently, one way of managing this in Xero would be to include every additional person on a contact record in emails, and then removing those that aren't required when sending each transaction. However we totally get this isn't the ideal solution.
While being able to set different email addresses for differing transaction types is something we want to address longer term, like the idea for multiple addresses work for this feature requires cross-collaboration between teams in order to achieve.
Once the multiple addresses feature is live this is something we'll be able to consider more closely and provide further updates on.
We do regularly review all ideas here, and your input is vital. We'll…

Hi everyone, we know this remains a highly important request, and we appreciate the volume of detail you’ve shared around billing, delivery and contact management workflows in this idea.
As shared in our last update - our team has been progressing the next phase of work needed to bring this more meaningfully into invoicing.
We know many of you are looking for clearer timing, and while I’m not able to confirm a release date at this stage, I do want to reassure you this remains an active area of work for our product teams.
We’ll continue to return here with further updates as we move through the next stages. Thanks again for your patience and for continuing to share the workflows that make this so important.

Hey community,
As some of you are aware, you can edit a contact and set a credit limit, and optionally block new invoices when the credit limit is reached in new invoicing.
Understand that a few of you are asking for a feature to put a stop on a contact so they can’t be sent invoices regardless of what their credit limit is, as well as others who'd like to see this implemented on the supplier side.
We'd like to confirm that this is not something we have plans to develop at this time. We're still interested to get a clearer understanding of users that'd like to see this developed, and will continue to track this through the conversation here 👀
If there's any change we will let you know on the thread. Thanks

This seems like something that should be very high on the list for Xero.
The fundamental issue is that a credit limit and a credit stop are two completely different things. A credit limit protects a business from allowing a customer's outstanding balance to exceed a predetermined monetary amount. A stop/hold protects the business when a customer has failed to pay within the agreed terms.
For example, a customer could have a £50,000 credit limit but have a £2,000 invoice that is 90 days overdue. Under the current approach, that customer can still have plenty of "available credit", but from a credit-control perspective they may already be a significant risk. The fact that they haven't reached their monetary credit limit doesn't change the fact that they haven't paid what they have already been invoiced for.
This is why using the credit-limit function as a workaround isn't really an answer. It forces businesses to manipulate a credit-limit setting to achieve something completely different from what that setting is designed to represent.
What businesses actually need is a customer status/hold function, for example:
Active – customer can be invoiced normally.
Credit warning – customer has overdue invoices and staff are warned when creating an invoice.
On Stop / Credit Hold – new invoices, quotes or orders cannot be progressed without appropriate authorisation.
Released – an authorised user can temporarily override the stop where there is a legitimate business reason.
Ideally, the stop could also be triggered automatically based on agreed payment terms — for example, "put this customer on stop if an invoice becomes more than 30 days overdue" — while still allowing an authorised manager to override the restriction when necessary.
This isn't simply a convenience feature. It is a credit-control and cash-flow control.
If Xero is going to provide businesses with information about overdue balances, credit limits and outstanding invoices, it seems logical that there should also be a mechanism to act on that information. Otherwise, the system is telling us that a customer is overdue, but leaving the final control entirely to a member of staff remembering to check that information before processing the next transaction.
That creates unnecessary manual processes and, more importantly, creates the possibility of human error. A sales or invoicing employee may quite reasonably see that a customer is £2,000 overdue but still has £48,000 of available credit and continue processing invoices. The finance team may have made a completely different decision about whether that customer should receive further credit.
A proper stop/hold function would allow the credit-control decision to be made once and enforced consistently across the business, rather than relying on everyone remembering to check notes, reports, emails or another CRM system before every transaction.
The fact that this request has been raised repeatedly for years should also tell Xero something about the underlying need. There are comments here from users who have been asking for this since well before this particular idea was created, and there are still users commenting in 2026 that they need it. The older Xero idea for an automatic credit hold has also accumulated 93 votes.
Xero has previously said that it doesn't currently plan to develop this functionality, while continuing to track the demand.
I think this is precisely the sort of feedback that should cause that decision to be reconsidered.
Please don't treat this as another request for a slightly different credit-limit setting. A credit limit is not a credit stop.
Businesses need the ability to say:
"This customer currently owes us overdue money, therefore no further credit is to be extended unless an authorised person explicitly releases the account."
That is a very different requirement, and it is one that would have a direct and practical impact on credit control, cash flow, risk management and internal processes.
Please reconsider this feature and, at the very least, give users some indication of whether Xero intends to address it. After this many years of requests, "use the credit limit as a workaround" really isn't an adequate solution.
