  1. I'm unfortunately recommending many new small business owners (mostly solopreneurs) with limited financial resources to use Wave Accounting free version for their bookkeeping.

    I mention to each of them to transition to Xero once their business will have overgrown Wave free version.

    I'd love to recommend new entrepreneurs to get started on Xero immediately, but when they have very limited financial resources it makes more sense to use a free accounting software than the $25/month Xero offer.

    I'd love to see a similar offering from Xero so I would recommend solopreneurs to get started on Xero and to start paying…

  2. We are a small Seniors Tennis Club in NZ with everything possible done by volunteer members. We have hit a road block in paying our bills with the 5 only limit not even covering our Utilities. Going up to the next level will double our cost and provide features we will never use. We gratefully accept your Not for Profit discount but can we pay a discounted yearly subscription or even better, in the Ignite plan raise the allowable number of payments to a sensible number.   4. I see that in Aus the starter plans in Xero are going up by 7-12% again this year (July 2025).

    Part of the sales pitch appears to be access to analytics. Subscribers on this level are mum and dad businesses, maybe an employee or two (as restricted by Xero).

    They need a simple system they can use, they don't need or want sophisticated analytics systems. There's nothing in their accounts to analyse. They barely have time or inclination to do a bank rec.

However, we’ve found that Xero’s current design is limiting for local government requirements — particularly in terms of transaction volume, internal controls, audit reporting, governance, and integrated project accounting.

  6. There isn't anywhere in Xero where we can add brief feedback. This would be helpful to have in the help menu please.

    For example there is a new issue after the new updates on invoicing - this feature would allow a quick notification to Xero that something needs fixed or we are super impressed with new changes! It takes too long to add something to product ideas (like now), to be ignored or gather a lot of voters before something is fixed. Same with raising a case, most of the time it wont be a fix, we get directed back…

  7. I would like a subscription option for a "super only" payroll for 20+ contractors. I do not need all the payroll functions as these are contractors who I pay from an invoice, but I do need to pay their super. There is absolutely no need for me to pay for the top tier payroll subscription, when we only have 2 people actually on payroll, but 20+ people who we need to pay super to.

    Hi Zachary, it looks like there is an integration with Mechanic desk available. If you've already integrated this with your organisation and looking for further capabilities to what it offers we recommend reaching out to their support directly (listed under the additional info section of the Xero app store).

    As they designed and built the integration they can confirm what's possible and would need to make decisions of if this is something they'd be willing to expand their integration for.

  9. Invoicing - increase the number of invoices that can be sent on the Ignite Plan or have another plan between the ignite and grow plans that allows more invoices to be sent and bills to be entered without the current extras in the grow plan. The jump up in cost between these plans is too much.

  10. Xero subscription - Have a way to turn the e-invoice into a new repeating bill so that it can show up in the bills you need to pay widget. I know I could create a new repeating bill but I can not see an option that will let the Reference and the line description update to what is on the e-invoice.

  11. In regard to client monthly charges being oncosted via billing, would it be possible for you to run a report of any other files that are dormant. Files that are being paid for and not used?

    Thanks for the feedback, Steve I've passed along your compliments to our support team too.

    Out of interest is there anything in particular you'd like to be able to download your support conversations for? e.g would you be wanting to share these somewhere else or file them somewhere to have on hand? This'd be great to share back with our team.

    For the time being, as you might've found (though a little manual) - you can copy & paste the detail of a support case internal an external document such as Google Docs or MS Word.

The new Grow subscription only allowing for one employee is really tough for accountants operating in the micro-business space, as many of the small businesses that I have been working to get onto Xero are either married couples or two business partners who need exactly two payroll employees, with no intention to grow beyond that number.

    Having to jump from Grow to Comprehensive just to add a payroll user is prohibitive for a lot of my clients, and knowing that this is the case is stopping me from recommending Xero as a product where it would have been a no-brainer…

  14. You should allow current subscription holders the ability to create reports on all of their data. At the moment if you stop employee staff and therefore downgrade your subscription, XERO removes all payroll reports. So when you need to print a report you cannot without changing your subscription to include payroll again, even they you don't need to pay employees. It costs you a 30 day subscription to print one report. This is a big fault and something I can do in MYOB. Please fix this madness.

  15. I am looking for an alternative to Quickbooks. As a solo consultant, I thought Xero would be the most appropriate fit for my business. Unfortunately, the fact that I need to subscribe to the top pricing plan at $115 per month in order to be able to bill for time is totally unrealistic. I thought Xero promoted itself as being a good fit for small business???? I don't need to track projects, I just need to be able to bill by the hour and invoice my 2 clients on a monthly basis. I'm sure I wouldn't be alone in these…

  16. Can the data be access in a read-only mode for cancelled subscriptions?
    Often historic data has to be referred to but once a subscription is cancelled, you are no longer able to view any of the data.
    To differentiate between active and cancelled subscriptions the company can be marked in red.

  17. There seems to be a trend to hide the button that is used to post a discussion or submit a product idea amongst others. It appears that you click on a link that you think should take to the "submit new product idea" page, and when you get there and enter in your idea, you realise it was a search box that is searching for existing ideas. Fair enough, force me to search first, patronising but I guess it reduces Xero's workload (not mine though). But where is the button to submit the product idea? And how do I get…

    Appreciate the feedback, Martin. As you noted you do need to search ideas first and to create one you'll need to enter a forum and search where you'll then get an option to Post a new idea if lone of the results doesn't match what you're after.

    Understand how this could be simpler and while we don't have any immediate plans on this, we;ll update you here if any are made.

  18. Xero advertises 24/7 support. My idea is that this representation is amended to reflect what support is actually offered.

    Xero state that you can "Contact Xero for free and unlimited 24/7 customer support". To most people, the meaning of this representation is that you can communicate in real time with someone from Xero who can help. This is not the case.

    The advertising claim should reflect that, while you can request support at any time, you will only get that support when Xero staff have the time to provide it, based on their triage system.

  19. There is nowhere to report missing features and bugs apart from this forum, which is more for ideas.
    I have found it difficult to find a place to report an issue quickly.
    For new invoicing the list of missing features and bugs should be reported so we can see what has already been picked up and what is being worked on and fixed.

    HI Jill, appreciate you posting here, not knowing where else to go.

    For something that appears to not be working as it should or where you're having performance issues in Xero - these are best to raise with our specialists at Xero Support where we have tools to investigate, triage any issues and escalate with our team if needed.

    When it comes to new invoicing we've communicated a lot of the changes and what's coming up through our Xero central page here. Otherwise, you'll also find many ideas for changes across product ideas here that I'd recommend joining for updates where you're interested. Searching 'New invoicing' on the main page of the site should help you find a list of the different features.

    I would have thought it is easier to hold onto existing customers, rather then lose them in favour of new customers.
