Reporting: Aged Reports - Run in different currency
Ability to run different currencies in Aged Payable report.
Purpose: Because some organisation make their sales in a different currency, so it’s beneficial for them to run these reports using different currencies.
Hi everyone, thanks for all the valuable feedback and ideas shared regarding aged reports in different currencies.
It seems that this idea picked up several different themes over time so we want to clarify where we’re at with this. In the past few months our product team has worked hard to improve the functionality in this area. That includes releases for totals when run in a single currency - so you can see a total of your foreign currency, and disclosures 🎉
We’ve introduced FX disclosures on the Aged Reports, which displays as a note at the bottom of your report or as an icon next to figures on the report to indicate that they include revalued foreign currency amounts to give you more flexibility. The disclosure will contain all the currency information that has been used to calculate the figures in your report. The exchange rate note will display by default, but we’ve heard from some customers that they want the ability to hide the disclosure. We’ve added this option under the More button. Hiding the disclosure this way will also remove it from all exported versions of the report. The disclosure can be re-added to the report later if desired.
While we haven't met the original request, we are confident that the new disclosures functionality will make it easier to understand foreign currency balances. Being transparent we have no plans to build the ability to run aged reports in a different currency. If you still find that you need the ability to run aged reports in a different currency, even using the improvements we’ve released, you’re welcome to create a new idea so we can gauge user need from this point on.

How can it be so difficult to get an Aged Payables report which shows the invoice amount in the base currency in one column, and the foreign currency amount in another column? This is a very basic standard feature in any accounting software which offers multi-currencies. If Quickbooks can provide such a report (albeit you have to add it in as a customised report), why can't Xero also provide it?
Suppliers are paid in the currency that they are billed, so it is essential that the billed currency amount is visible on the Aged Payables report since the Aged Payables is what businesses use when preparing the suppliers' payment run.

XERO are blindsiding us. The old version AR and AP reports are basic, but do allow he user to identify the currency . Instead of improving these reports Xero will be removing them. The new versions are only shown in base currency, the foreign currency data isn't highlighted therefore requiring multiple drill downs to extract the currency data. The new AR and 'detail' report does allow to access the data with one click but as a user you will need to do this with every aged invoice in order to extract the correct data regardless of base or foreign currency. A simple solution would be to add a currency column e.g. GBP, EURO, USD to the AR and AP 'Detail' report, regardless this would be far too time consuming . That said my MD doesn't want to see a long list of aged invoices only the total balances. Ideally aged summary reports should be made available in each currency. I don't really understand how Xero can continue to market multi currency software without these essential functions

Its only the people that are already caught by Xero' s dishonest disclosure of their systems capabilities that are seeking a resolution.
Most people don't know where to get assistance or help. If they did I am sure this comment sections would have thousands more complaints
I have contacted them on Instagram and left various comments on their postings regarding this issue - then I somehow get a reply
Comments like: :Understand all the enthusiasm and interest" is very condescending. We are trying to run businesses and these report are CRITICAL not a nice to have!

I don't feel Xero's response is satisfactory, their intentions are unclear and they haven't really acknowledged the specific request. This feature is critical and should be a standard function in a multi-currency software, we need to be able to generate reports in foreign currencies so clients can pay and be paid in that foreign currency. I do hope Xero will develop this asap.

Will the ability to see Debtors & Creditors by currency be added to the new reports ?

This makes no sense and provides little clarity on what xero intend to do.
Will we be able to report in foreign currency in July 2023? Or are you saying that you believe existing reports suffice? - They dont! Account transactions reports don't help you see what Euro amount is due for payment. Aged payables in base currency do not help you decide what Euro balances are due for payment. -

I'm really sorry but even this is so poorly worded that I have no confidence in xero's announcement; if you can't sense check something being published don't send it. It reflects so badly on xero. It continues to frustrate! I am way past enthusiasm.

Morning Kelly
Thank you for your reply to this crucial issue
Please could you list the report that converts foreign currency amounts to our base currency? This would be really helpful to know
I am very relieved that Xero is working on a solution before the older versions of the reports are being retired and we are left with no viable options

This is madness really! Before the new reporting system was implemented it was simple to generate a report with multiple currencies.
I can't understand why with the new reporting system this wasn't included at the first step.
Multiple Xero users use multi currency so logic says to ensure multi currency reporting is standard!

Very important, not ideal adding manual steps to our process, especially when the older version allows me to get what I want currently.

I don't understand what / how we need to do to help Xero understand the urgency of proper and accurate multi currency functionality in this application. At this stage it seems as if Xero is misrepresenting what they are all about.

Update from Xero received today:
“The idea is still at the 'submitted' stage which means the team are not working on this in the immediate term. The votes and comments help the team gauge priority. -OG”

I have been in contact with their support but the answer remains, "I've forwarded your comments to our Product team, who are working towards providing more multicurrency options for our reports, however please note that we're not able to give a timescale as to when this will be available."
We are not asking for special reports, we users are asking for reports that should be standard on any accounting software program
How is it even possible to advise that multi currency is an option, ask the user to pay a premium for it and not have any reporting capability??

So surprised that xero are not providing this. Paying for multi currency subscription. We moved from sage who have providing this for years! Didn’t even think to check with xero before moving as it says it provides a multi currency solution. Have already raised this more than once with our account manager. We need more votes to get this moving and an update from xero would be good!
