Invoices - Add subtotals
Ability to add subtotals in the invoices.
Purpose: Because some clients are questioning and would like to see more details, and having subtotals can satisfy their needs & wants.
Hi all - thanks for taking the time to provide your votes and commentary on the idea to enable subtotals in invoices. We appreciate how this would make invoicing easier and enable you to provide a clear breakdown on invoices.
As you can imagine with a global product, the variety of ideas we receive is expansive and so the product team focuses on building features that will meet most people’s needs. In the interest of transparency at this stage this idea is not currently planned. However we’re still open to receiving feedback and votes. It could always be reconsidered at a later date.
In the meantime it’s worth highlighting (as a few have mentioned already) a workaround is to generate an invoice as a PDF and then edit the PDF externally. Alternatively our Xero App Store has many invoicing providers who may do this. You can browse the invoice providers here.
We’ll be sure to update you here if there’s any more news on this suggestion.

quote confusion is sometimes unnecessarily created by not having the ability to show sub totals.
The only way around this is to create separate quotes which is inefficient for the user and confusing for the customer. -

Xero, i am sure you can see how important this is to us, your users. Why on earth would you not implement this? Please give this the attention it deserves...WE NEED SUBTOTALS!

I spent longer then I'm proud of looking how to make sub totals on my invoices assuming that something this basic was already included!Please can you give us some kind of indication if this will ever be implemented or not?

Is there anything further on this request Xero? Loads of people want this but Xero taking ages to give any feedback.
@ Jon Huddy - yes we can do that but it's un-necessary in this day and age and an antiquated way to do it, plus wastes time. MYOB already have a sub-total feature available to use in their invoicing for years now. Xero behind the 8 ball on this feature!

When I need to show subtotals, I create a PDF, then edit to include.

I've been watching this string for over a year and have never seen any response from Xero. This whole feedback feature is a joke! I don't think anyone from Xero monitors this site.

Our customers are confused bordering upset about not having subtotals on their invoices. We like Xero, but this is becoming a big issue and we're starting to look for different book-keeping programs.

Invoicing - The ability to see the total items added to the bill.
We invoice for hours used and it would be great to have the invoice give us a total of the line items to check it matches our time sheets.
For example we might have 3 hours for bookkeeping in 1 line, 15 hours for admin in the next, 5 hours for marketing in the 3rd and it would great great to see a total at the bottom showing 23 to check against our time tracking software quickly. -
