User Role - Access to Products & Services (Inventory) and Purchases/Sales only
Ability to allow individual access to inventory(products & services) and sales in Xero.
Purpose: Enable ability to view different sets of information within an org.

Thanks for all your input and sharing how we can improve Xero's user roles to cater for the needs of your business and staff you'd like to provide this access for.
As you may have seen in other ideas we've been conducting some research into user roles across all of Xero. As a step on from this, one of our teams are beginning a deeper dive into solving this idea here and enabling more roles access to Products & services (Inventory) in Xero.
While this may take sometime to accomplish we wanted to provide an update to you all interested in this, and we'll keep you informed of further progress as the team begin looking into it.

Why is this not sorted - hundreds are screaming for it..?!
I have a E-commerce site being built by a 3rd party and he needs access to products and services to add items and pricing - I can't give it to him without showing him the entire guts of my financials .?? -

Our purchasing officer needs to be able to add products that need to be purchased. It looks like this is a common request.
Would also be great if a product could be added from the purchase order screen rather than having to open a whole new screen to add an item this is very time consuming.

Some employees need have invoice only user rights, but also need access to products and services. If they have access to create invoices, they must also have the option to access the products and services.

Staff that have access to invoices, need to be able to add products to use on those invoices, without having full Xero access or bank access.
Please add this as a permission setting.

Client needs to be able to give access to staff to Products and Services without also letting them access all the bank accounts and financials. This is impossible to do at the moment.
Xero - Any update on when this absolutely necessary feature will be available?

We are moving to MYOB Advanced ERP. We have waited long enough and the inventory functionality and user permissions in Xero (as well as timesheet reporting/payroll) is so below even basic expectations of an accounting software.
Sad, because I had always been a Xero supporter. Forget beautiful, maybe try functional for a while...

The whole User Roles system is so below par it is scary - definitely NOT fit for purpose.
Come on XERO how may users have to support a great idea for you to move and fix a problem!
The User Roles system is far to wide and opens up for to much information to all staff. It needs fixing.

Come on Xero - this is basic and goes back to 2022 but nothing has happened. How many users are needed to say their is a problem before something happens.
Permissions are at the hart of a system and the current levels leave the system open to Fraud!

Totally agree - there needs to be a lot more flexibility on adding users and their permissions. We have to implement procedures for security and audit purposes but Xero does not enable this. Xero has grown in usage and needs to back this up with flexibility.

I have had a look around at the list of add ons available for inventory where we can integrate to Xero and either they are too big for our use, charge two or three times what we are paying for xero monthly, or are designed for specific industries that dont work for us. I could spend some money and have a programmer develop our own inventory module and integrate but that seems quite an expense and with it being specific would have maintenance costs I don't want. MYOB has inventory and maybe we should just go and use that. MYOB has shortcomings, but so does Xero. Different application but same story in a different shade. At least we could maintain our products on our shelves.

This is a very important function for our organisation.
I have 3 staff appending invoices, and they need to check the inventory and also check inventory report function.
This is to ease their responsibility in creating invoices and checking items.Please add this function asap.
Please let us know when will this be available?

Has anyone found a software that has this feature? Please advise what other options are out there as my client is so frustrated with Xero and I would love to know what else to suggest to him as he needs to move asap, this function is a deal breaker.

This is a serious issue within our business. As our business grows this issue will become more & more prevalent.
If Xero doesn't address this issue, we will have to seek an alternative ERP package.
Sort it out XERO!
