Sales Invoices - Set defaults for attach PDF and send a copy in new invoicing
Auto select option to attach a PDF copy of the sales invoice by default.
Purpose: Save time having to manually tick the option to include PDF when sending an invoice in new invoicing
Hi everyone, returning now a few months on from our last update we're going to move this idea to 'Delivered' with the change the team made to default to include a PDF of the invoice when sending an invoice from Xero when using new invoicing.
We understand there's a secondary need being asked within this one idea that we'd like to continue to gather feedback and support for and have sprung up a new idea for the ability to default include files attached to an invoice when sending from Xero - If this is what you're after please do join and add your support there too.
A somewhat similar but slightly different need bought up by some is the ability to auto include specific files when sending from Xero - For example Terms & conditions that have been created as a separate file.
You'll find this has been created by another user in Product Ideas and you're welcome to support in this too.

Whew! Glad I'm not alone in the constant irritation of invoicing a client and having to remember that box tick EVERY TIME.
Our traditional base of clients (schools, libraries, nonprofits, hospitals) have systems that require an Invoice before checks can be cut. No PDF, no payment. To ensure that the PDF is emailed without fail would make Xero better/more efficient. (Why require the human step with each invoice if ALL a company's clients need the PDF?) -

Please introduce this feature ASAP. I can't see any reason why there should even be an option to not include the invoice as a PDF, let alone it being the default option.

Really really important when working with government clients. All government clients are moving away from allowing there account payable staff to use links due to security issues. All government departments now require a PDF.

It is so important to include PDFs automatically. We deal with Estate Agents, Council's and others, they will not click the links!!!

This is a huge regression. It's so important to include PDFs with receipts. The systems that don't do it cause us so much admin and our customers will think the same.

Most of my customers use AUTOMATIC software to input the data from a .PDF into their system. Without the PDFs being attached, means they will no longer use my business.. so I have to attach them all manually every week. This should be standard.

They dont have it because it requires more server processing power, it may even over load their servers resulting frequent crash.
It is also not a technical issue which can be done easly rather its a hardware issue which requires more funding.
This should not be an execuse as clearly it is fundamental to have this inclusively.

Yes please make the adding of a PDF invoices default. Not being default means that if you forget to click the PDF button that the invoice does not get opened which defeats the purpose. Be better off switching to a different system that actually does the job needed.

Pls prioritize the auto setting of files attachment to avoid inconvenience and embarrassment to our customers. It is very cumbersome to click each time we send files

Agree with one of the other comment. It seems you do not care. Your explanation is unsatisfactory and I do not understand why the subject with the most vote and most comment is not even under review... Talk about customer care...
For us the most critical is the ability to automatically attach our standard terms and condition to Quotes, Invoices, Purchase orders.

This feature should be available as standard.
Given the use of Dext and Hubdoc having to download the invoice and send to either of these is an unnecessary step.
It can't be that hard to implement.

If this can be set as either default auto-on for all invoices, or default PDF attachment for each invoice to a particular contact, that would help greatly. At the moment, we have some customers that automate their supplier payment processes, whereby we need to remember to attach a PDF.

Xero Dev, this is a pretty basic functionality change that should have been done by now. When creating an enhanced product, we would expect existing functionality to remain, enhanced by the new features.
Please do not release the new invoicing on Repeating Invoices until this has been updated as this would create havoc. -

Seems a very simple update and not sure that the Admin has nailed it. A feature to just auto include the PDF attachment with an "On / Off" would do the trick for nearly all the comments here. Please include.

Hey product team, I'd love this as a default feature too please. We're similar to James - about 200 invoices a month, so 400 clicks to send out invoices with PDF attachments.
