I don't understand why Xero refuses to implement this requirement. When can we expect some action, or must we choose different software? There is overwhelming need for this feature, and it makes no sense that it's not been addressed.
Can other users please suggest alternatives to Xero? I'm getting fed up waiting. -

Is there an update on this function?

I've only just encountered this problem after moving from hourly rate to a salary for an employee. Not sure if it's a fix or not ( or if I've made it worse) but I put pay through without authorising timesheet which paid the correct amount then after its been filed etc, I go back & authorise the timesheet. I'm not sure if this is a workaround or if I've caused issues somewhere else

All that needs to happen is that there is the OPTION for the timesheets approved to NOT override the pay template. Alternatively, there is allowed concurrent payment categories in the pay template - 1 associated with timesheets ($0) rate, and a payment category associated with standard salary, which I logically assumed there would be.
To my horror, I have realised that Xero does not have this functionality!
Cue manual entry and adjustment each week for salaried staff with 'reasonable additional overtime' clauses in their contracts, but who do not reach the wage thresshold where timesheets are no longer required to be submitted and kept by the entity under Australian law.

It is a a fundamental requirement for these employees to keep timekeeping records (Timesheets) and under relevant Commonwealth workplace laws it's an employers requirement to "make and keep accurate and complete records for all of their employees".
So when these salaried employees submit a timesheet & it is 'approved' the hours transfer to the pay run for the period, BUT they are not being paid for the hours worked, they are being paid salary so are paid their set salary/52 weeks.
When will Xero FIX this issue and become ATO COMPLIANT?
**NOTE: I sent a query on This & the reply from the 'specialist' was...
>> "If xxxxxxxxxx are on an annual salary, meaning you don't want their timesheet information pulling through to each pay run, we would suggest using timesheets outside of Xero to report the hours worked. Approved timesheets in Xero Payroll will always override the employee's Pay Template.Alternatively, the rate can be amended in the employee's payslip once the timesheet information has pulled through, to reflect the annual salary.
There is the option to leave the timesheets unapproved in Xero, as only approved timesheets flow through to the pay run, however we would not recommend this as unapproved timesheets can cause issues. For example, it's not possible to change the pay calendar assigned to an employee while they have unapproved timesheets, meaning if you ever needed to change these employees pay calendars all unapproved timesheets would first need to be deleted.
And mysteriously I was unable to add to the "Discussion Thread" my disgust at this issue

Can we please have some feedback as to whether Xero are looking into this function?

There are many reasons for tracking employees hours on salaries, this would be a great option to include in future updates.

Been asking for this for years, it's really a nuisance not to have it.

I'm not sure how this isn't an option yet for salaried staff to submit their worked hours on a timesheet and then have the payroll function to choose to 'pay as' timesheet hours or contracted hours. It is now a requirement to keep track of these hours and for many of us that means manual work.

Really need this to ensure compliance with annual review of hours worked versus compensation for employees on a salary.

Given the increasing level of compliance where start, finish and unpaid break times MUST be recorded for ALL employees, can you PLEASE bring in a simple feature which enables this for all employees but the data is only submitted for hourly paid employees.

This would be so helpful. Seems a very basic concept and surely couldn't be hard to implement.

We have been asking for this function for years, it makes the timesheet function really hard to manage. Like many companies, we have a mix of casual and permanent employees. ALL of them track their time in Xero Projects, and import this into the timesheets, but we have to be super-careful to only authorize the timesheets for casual employees. It is a really simple software fix to simply add a flag to say whether timesheet information should determine pays or not, and I don't understand why this critical functionality has been so badly mishandled.

Most scheduling tools integrate into Xero invoicing so I cannot see why employee data cannot be integrated as well.
Please provide a timesheet importing function

Timesheets are a requirement for lots of industries, whether employees are paid on an hourly basis, or salaried.
Please provide a timesheet function, which does not link to payroll to allow us to keep track of hours worked by our employees.
