AU Payroll: super maximum contribution base
Employers are only required to pay superannuation guarantee up to a quarterly threshold (maximum contribution base). At the moment Xero doesn’t cap the super at this level, and will allow super above the cap to be booked. (In fact, to limit the super at the cap requires a work-around adding 2 lines, one with 0% super and another with the fixed amount up to the cap.). Employers can easily overpay their employees’ super. This functionality needs to be built into Xero.

Xero, this is critically important. We are moving from a payroll system (that had this functionality) to Xero. To find out Xero doesn't stop someone from going over the super cap is not great. These caps are in place by the ATO, so it should be part of any basic payroll system. Thanks

Xero, this is important. Genuine question - why hasn't it been fixed yet?

Please add this function ASAP!! Do not know how people with multiple employees would even consider Xero if they had to change their super contribution every fortnight!!! We only have one employee and I get frustrated every fortnight.

Assumed this was already built into payroll features for Xero, would be good if can please be added ASAP.

This is terrible that Xero does not have this major functionality! We have just moved from myob (that has the ability to set the cap) to Xero and I am shocked that Xero support suggested a manual workaround which is so risky and subject to overpaid super. I looked at previous communication in Xero central and found complaints about this from 2021 - 2 years ago Xero!! How long is it going to take to have this put in place?

This is very important and should have already been implemented. I was lucky to work this out prior to the employee lodging their pay run. Please make this a priority Xero as a few of my customers have complained.

Very important. Hard to manually track and employees may end up with excess contributions.

I feel as though this functionality should have always been a part of Xero. Having to manually calculate this is problematic, and I'm sure a number of businesses are overpaying super as this functionality isnt built in.
It doesn't seem as though it would be extremely complex to have implemented as other payroll software i have used does have this functionality.

Every time one of my clients adds another employee who is paid above the maximum contribution base, I have to explain that the annual wage on their payslip only includes the maximum contribution base, and not the salary on which my client does not pay super. They all query it. Every time.

This is an important matter to my clients - it is too easy to overpay super unless you adopt the manual chnages that have been suggested elsehwere in Xero Central
