Ability to Import Timesheet templates from excel
Could we have the ability to update timesheets each payrun from and excel spreadsheet.
This is so that admin staff can data enter timesheet information without necessarily having access to the payroll system. This is also in the case of Company's who do not want the Xero Me function.
Appreciate raising the idea here, Mona
With improvements to XeroMe our intention is to make it simpler for employees to self enter this sort of information.
Is there a particular reason why you'd prefer not to use this function? Would be good to be able to share this back with our team or perhaps there's another idea I could be connecting you in with here

Of course, XeroMe isn't always the answer! How arrogant to expect employees to add a business app to their personal mobiles. Employees rightfully ask our small business (<20 people) to provide them with a business mobile to use that app. Surprise! Our Cafe can't afford that. We had the option previously, why take it away? If you believe in the XeroMe app then bring the CSV option back and work on improving XeroMe in parallel. Don't try and force your loyal customers into a solution that doesn't fit everyone. BTW XeroMe needs to have Geofencing as an option.

I need this functionality because we use LiveCosts (Project management System) to collect timesheet and to manage project costs etc. We don't want the team or finance re-keying the same data. We need to be able to upload the data seamlessly if possible. The excel functionality will mean that we will implement be able to implement the Xero Payroll Module

Hey Xero,
2022 has been and gone, and we're still asking for basic functionality that should be in the payroll system.
Any eta on when this might happen, I spend 20-30 fixing or adding staff hours in payroll as it is so old fashioned for an interface.
Why do I have to press the "View More" button to see last weeks timesheets, stop doing a java script query and put the filter in the web address bar and things would be so much faster while we wait for an import feature to arrive.

I would also love this function. The Timesheets are a centralised function in our company also. This would save a lot of time and streamline the process for us, also it would ensure greater accuracy.
It would be great to be able to create a csv file that can be uploaded.

This would be a great function to have. It would not only simplify multiple entry import using a simple spreadsheet; but would also allow those Time and Attendance Solution providers the ability to create a simple Pay Export File for easy integration. I know our Company has had many requests for this feature and if it existed we would add a Xero Pay Export file to our application without hesitation. This would allow customers a great opportunity to automatically calculate employee's (variable) hours worked, split out the hour's breakdown, plus any other variables and in just a few seconds export out of our Software and import into Xero. The savings in Time, and not to mention transposing accuracy would be significant. We look forward to one day having the opportunity to be able to offer this to our clients. This feature would be useful as we have an aviation-specific rostering system that maintains much more information other than timesheets. It would be handy to export these and import them into Xero without interpreting them and then manually taking out human error. Also, saving manual processing time.

We use BrightHR and their product Blip to capture timesheet data.
It outputs to excel easily but currently has to be rekeyed into Xero.
An upload would be fabulous…. or better still an API. -

This would be essential for us - please can we make this work?

Please can we have this functionality? There is already the ability to bulk import contacts (for example), could that be extended to timesheets?

our scheduling / timesheets are produced in other system and it would would save a lot of time/double handling if we could import from this into Xero (say via csv).
Xero me does not work for us. It also is a very bad version of this type of functionality and has very poor permissions control.
Given the amount you charge clients for payroll it is a very poorly thought through part of the system. Time to spend dollars on improving payroll allround xero.

Fully support this idea to reduce manual entry

I fully support this idea, this would reduce manual data entry for payroll and reduce human error as well as payroll compliance.

I fully support the call for the ability to import Excel spreadsheet templates into Xero.
Staff have a daily check in and out register, time then gets transferred by them into an Excel spreadsheet which gets checked by supervisor, sent to finance and entered through timesheets by finance team for payment. Staff are on different awards and conditions and some work across programs, and the programs need to be reported to government departments - with some across five or six programs. It is confusing enough for the financial staff having to split up the hours between programs and reporting requirements, and to get staff to use XeroMe to try to record this information would be even more confusing for all concerned. As a charity, the time of our staff is better spent serving our community, not triple entering data and fixing up any human error that occurs. -

Many reasons as to why a simple timesheet doesn't work i.e. rely solely on XeroMe. For those projects that are complex and span months, finance needs to report accrued revenue based on CoS and % completion on projects. Labour is a major input into the CoS. Simply expecting engineers (as an example) to interface with Xero Me is unrealistic. As a further example, use of DevOps in SW teams. This includes time already , actual and expected. This needs to find its way to Xero. Why would you enter it twice. Furthermore, project management tooling may sit above that to abstract to work packages for PM purposes.
If you are asking why you need this feature you fundamentally don't understand how most business process works for tech and engineering companies.

We are desperately needing an import function for Timesheets / Payroll.
In one client's case we have just over 30 staff, does not sound like much, but each employee has on average 15 pay line items. That is 450 manual entries per pay cycle.
We use a spreadsheet to prepare our data and it will be easy to then simply create a format for import purposes. Yet, the function is not available. Why not? -

This is a desperately needed function!
Our business uses alternative software for job scheduling & timesheets, so XeroMe would not work for us.
We currently enter timesheet data into a spreadsheet, then enter into Xero.
To be able to skip this second manual step would be amazing!(on a side note, XeroMe does not have great functionality, it has poor levels of permission & team management making it unusable from a business running over 70 staff in multiple teams.)

XeroMe isn't ideal for us, because a lot of our employees are not sophisticated enough to - or just don't want to - use it. We have a manager reviewing the times and updating into Xero for each employee. The spreadsheet short be importable. Pretty obvious feature that seems necessary.

this is a very basic option that should be implemented ASAP. Every payroll program has an import function. The use of Xero payroll is frustrating. make it easier!!!!

for me I work with a team across the UK to say they are not completely on board with IT is an understatement.
they have just got to grips with a basic forms sheet to give me their claim they get paid for each complete response so we need to check at our end if responses are complete and this is done company wide by project managers using a excel sheet I provide. importing this froma CSV would make it so simple.
