AU Payroll - Set Working Days for Part Time Employees
Currently, Xero does not have the feature to assign certain working days for part time employees. This becomes very frustrating when doing payroll.
For instance, an employee works Wednesday to Friday and when a public holidays falls on a Monday, Xero will allocate either all or some of the employees ordinary hours to this date incorrectly. This means we will have to manually adjust it each time.
A simple resolution would be to set up employees to certain working days, then the public holidays would assign correctly and there would be no need to manual adjustments.

This is critical, and is an issue that has been raised many times over a long period of time. I understand the NZ version of Xero allows for setting a roster for part time employees, so if this is already developed, it should be a very simple implementation for the AU version. The hours beign split evenly across 5 working days does not allow for the public holidays, annual leave or sick leave requests, which all have to be manually adjusted. With government procurement and Fair Work Australia pushing priority focus on flexible workforces, Xero needs to support its users in managing this through basic payroll functionality.

This is critical for us as we have a couple of part-time employees and the manual effort required to calculate leave entitlements is a huge overhead.

Xero Payroll is basically non-compliant.
It can't work out holiday pay correctly, has no idea about statutory holidays. Doesn't work out sick pay, basically forcing you to manually adjust everything.
But don't complain, they might remove the feature to prioritize 'improving' the product! -

This is a very important add on! Payroll is Payroll, you can't just offer bits and pieces and hope that everyone is happy enough to do the manual "bits" themselves. Especially finding out as they go along that what you offer isn't necessarily what a customers expectations are. Why should we have to manually account for part time rosters and know that we are calculating hours and days correctly, it's a system that should do it for us. It leaves too much room for error. We have to report to the ATO all this information, and to try and fix errors is a nightmare. Come on Xero, help us run our businesses seamlessly and efficiently! A roster for part time employees is a MUST, you can't just leave stuff out, its payroll and this forms part of payroll calculations. We pay for a service, but really only getting bits and pieces that suit you, not ideal at all!

It's this lack of feature that has me NOT recommend Xero for anything other than basic full time majority payroll. Businesses with numerous part time work schedules makes managing this is a manual nightmare.

To have set days options for employees would be amazing and yes would allocate public holidays correctly, hopefully this is on the agenda to make happen

Every time there is a public holiday, I am adjusting and triple checking my part time employee hours, which are apportioned across the week, including the PH. Same goes for leave. This is incredibly inefficient and probe to errors. This should be a priority fix for Xero Payroll.

Yes! Keypay/Employment Hero offers this and it's very useful across a large and complex payroll to not have to remember who works what days.

I would LOVE this function!! We have multiple part time staff and manual adjustments to hours/public holidays and leave are something that utilise far too much of our time unnecessarily.

I agree that this is a critical issue - I am constantly spending way too many hours each week processing payroll and having to double check and amend employees pay slips to account for the many individuals who don't work the standard working week (90%+ of my workforce).

Agreed! This has been an issue with Xero always but worse in the past few years as the standard working week is not full time or Monday to Friday. Please change this asap. We should be able to allocate how many ordinary hours an employee works on each individual day on their profile.

We are constantly deducted too much from the leave balances of part-time employees. Most of our employees are part-time so its a constant juggle to get it correct

Totally agree - this should be standard as the 'normal' working week is no longer 40 hours over 5 days Mon-Fri. Please sort this out it is so important as 90% of our workforce work part-time and this causes issues all the time!
And yes there is a similar idea on this forum, so if you aggregate the numbers of votes for these, you will see a large number of people calling for this

perhaps we need to be able to link ideas so that we dont have multiple threads or tag someone so that we know that these have been seen?
