New Invoicing - Add new Tracking option
The ability to add a tracking code from within the 'new invoicing' bills.
Classic invoicing has this ability and it would be excellent to have it in the new invoicing also.

Hi everyone, we appreciate your input on being able to add new tracking options while invoicing and our team are looking into improvements that could be made to this flow in new invoicing. I'll keep you looped in on any change for this here.

I agree with all these comments. Being able to is crucial to our business for profit and loss and one of the reasons that I adopted Xero originally. Whilst it is still an option in the new version, the ability to “Add new tracking” option, like you could in the Classic Invoice format, is critical - without it you have to do a really time-consuming double back around. PLEASE reinstate the “Add new tracking” feature in the New Invoice format.

I am happy to see that everyone else is having this issue as well! I have spent hours searching and thinking "this must be an error or mistake", how could they take out the 'tracking function' in the invoice. I much prefer the Classic invoicing and I will be disappointed when forced to switch with this feature specifically missing, as I track every invoice with a job attached. Having to add them in a completely different (tracking categories) screen first, doubles my work.

Well said Kathy Skinner.
I need tracking on my invoicing but the 'new' version does not include it. If I plan to use the 'new' format I am not able to copy any invoice that was issued in 'classic' format as the invoice has tracking information in the background that is not seen or able to be editted. However it is POSTED upon the invoice's approval. If I were to copy an invoice created in 'classic' format in the 'new' format, unless the tracking information prior matches the newly created invoice I need to revert the invoice back to 'classic' format to amend or remove the information.. And from 2nd of September, I won't be able to do that. This is ridiculous! How is this saving me time??
Now if Xero added the tracking fields to the show/hide field options I would assume I would have access to tracking on an invoice in the 'new' format but is Xero going to do this? -

As usual they change things do some testing saying they're improvements but don't listen to everyday users. Maybe if they actually had to spend a month doing actual accounts and processing via their supposedly improved option versus the classic they would finally understand. Time they actually listened to real time users of these things.
Getting tired of their attitude towards these upgrades and their blase response to peoples complaints about how they're an improvement. Maybe for them but not us. -

Having used the proposed new invoicing system a bit now, it is clunky and inefficient compared to the current system. We use tracking on all of our invoices. The current system has been smooth, we start to enter the code and the list comes up. If it's one on there we just select it and if not we previously had the option to add it from that screen. Now I enter the codes, have to tab across to get it to retain the code, then it randomly changes the code, sometimes to something completely unrelated. If it's a new code I have to open tracking in a separate screen, add it in there at the bottom of the list, save it, then reload the invoice screen to get it to come up. In addition to the issues around that, the current system had a nice clear "Approved" button at the bottom of the invoice. It didn't glitch and scroll randomly to the top of the page or anything. Now it seems to be set as "Approve and email" or something like that, which we never want to do. Even when I select just Approve, it doesn't remain as the set option. It also flicks to the bottom of the screen for some reason so I have to scroll back up to the top to select it.
It's very glitchy. I would not be happy with using this proposed system at all as an ongoing invoicing option. It's awful. -

this is a step backwards - can we move forwards before switching off the old style!!?

Agree with all. Tracking category is important! Also, need to be able to send a receipt from within the invoice. Once you add a payment in classic invoice there was a line at the top that said "send invoice" that you could just click on. Not in new invoicing. Super frustrating and not user friendly.

I never turn on the new invoicing for any clients current or new as the classic invoicing is so much more user friendly. Please do not remove this as it will cause issues with clients that are using Xero currently and using the old features.

The “Add new tracking” option in the Classic Invoice format is critical to our business and by removing this feature seriously impacts our ability to accurately report on profit and loss per client. PLEASE reinstate the “Add new tracking” feature in the New Invoice format.

By taking that simple feature away - It has made adding a new tracking option on the fly during invoicing and receiving so clunky and time consuming. i.e. Having to go to "settings/advanced settings/tracking categories" and add there, is like getting out of the car to turn on the indicator signal before each turn.
At least we still have Classic till September which is in line of what I'm tolerant of paying the ever creeping higher subscription fees for - Would have thought "New" means better?
Please address before September. -

In the old invoicing template, when creating a new invoice, at the top of the drop down menu of tracking categories, you have the option to + add a new tracking category. In the new invoicing format, this has disappeared. So you have to go out, create a new tracking category and then re-start the creation of an invoice. This is time consuming and pointless. Xero, please just allow the creation of a new category within the new invoicing system please.

Tracking Items in Invoices is a must put it back - without it you are denying us service and therefore you must reduce your fees. Changing and taking away on a subscription model that has increased in price is immoral and unacceptable.
Remember Zoom took over the market from Go Webinar in a shot by giving customers what they wanted more easily, not making it more difficult and taking things away.
Who is running Xero a non-user by the sound of it.

Add new tracking option within the New Invoice is Critical for our business,
In using the use Classic version this is excellent and serves as a backbone to the business.
The option isn't there on the New version.
Using the tracking facility for individual case references and keeping note of costs per client case is vital and makes Xero a nonsense if it is not there.
Staff with Invoicing Access but without access to Advanced Settings are unable to Add new categories unless this option is there for them .
Please ensure this is added to the New Invoicing so this functionality is available to them.
