  2. Currently bill costs are not posted to the accounts until it has been approved. It would be beneficial if once a bill was entered/submitted for approval in xero the costs were shown in the accounts. If the approver is not available to approve the bills it holds up finalising month end accounts.

  3. Locking Invoices and Bills so they cannot be deleted once Finalised.

    We often see clients raise invoices, or bills in their Xero file, and then later delete them if a change is required, and then raise another invoice or bill.
    From an accounting perspective, this is a huge sin.
    Once an invoice or bill has been finalised, the only way it should be altered is by raising either a debit or credit note against it. Xero allows a user to raise debit or credit notes, but the average non-accountant does not understand what these are, so they do the easiest…

  4. Short cut for payment date to be equal to transaction date.

    For example, you have entered a bill say 20/3/2023. The client has also paid it on the day. Rather than entering 20/3/2023, would be great to just enter say "s" in the date field and uses the transaction date for the payment date.

  5. It would be great if we could edit the tax rate without reversing the payment allocation. Sometimes, when completing the VAT reconciliation before sending to HMRC, I spot errors in tax rates and I can't edit it without reversing the payment allocation. You can edit the account it is posted to but not the tax rate.

  6. The new Bills To Pay screens seem to be causing a lot of discussion. For those users who extensively leverage the Expenses module, there are a number of improvements that could be made:

    • Please Add “Spent At” in the columns so that Expenses make sense viewed in this context, otherwise every line says “Expense Claims” and the entire column is superfluous when dealing with Expenses (reduces redundant data display)

    • Please add a link from the Bill listing directly to the Expense Detail if it was generated by Expenses (reduces click-through and page calls, improves efficiency)

  8. Make it possible to create a new project while entering a supplier invoice in a similar way that you can create a new contact if the one you want isn't there. At the moment if we are entering a batch of invoices and there is one that hasn't had a project created we have to create a new one in Projects first before we can continue.

  10. Kelly Munro shut down discussion on an idea I suggested, because she was under the mistaken impression that she had resolved the issue, which she had not. I suggested that it would be useful to be able to allocate payment of purchase invoice against overpayments and credits. While what Kelly suggested was correct - that this is possible to do when an invoice is first raised, it is only possible at this stage. It is not possible later. I have a client whose main supplier operates a very complicated system of prepayment for orders. This results in a large number…

    With your added detail we're happy to have the idea in the forums here that we can get a feel for the appetite on - You're always welcome to reply to an update I've shared on an idea too and we can review this. 


    Please understand it's not my intention to inhibit customer feedback, but will do our best to highlight and share places where features and capability in the product do exist but may just be unknown by users. 

  11. The upgraded Quotes layout does not allow me to attach pdf's from the Files Section.
    The only way to do this now is to download pdf from Files. Open Quote and Save it. Upload pdf.

    This has significantly slowed down the workflow - please can Xero Quotes be able to add attachemnts from Files and before Saving.

  13. In addition to individual accounts, it would be great to select a group total from the Balance Sheet (or P & L) to put in the Account Watchlist, eg if you have a number of loans and you want to see what Total Loans are on the dashboard.

    Would still need to consider an optional trigger here as different businesses process projects in different ways. 

    Appreciate the efficiency play and while this isn't something we have plans for atm, we'll track the interest of this here. 

  16. At the moment when entering a bill from a new supplier I can only enter the name of the supplier in the bill, then go into contacts to add their details.

    It would be more convenient if there was a button to add contact as new, and have a pop-up page where I can add more details of those suppliers from bill page.

    Sometimes when working through many invoices from new suppliers it's hard to remember which contacts need to be revisited to add details especially contact details and bank details for batch payments.

  17. I have multiple clients for whom I perform varying tasks. I log in and work on their accounts with my practice email.

    When sending invoices on clients' behalf, or paying bills to clients' suppliers, the copy invoice or remittance advice goes to my practice email as I am the logged in user. The person/company who needs this copy is my client (whose email is the 'reply to').

    At present I have to then log into my emails and forward the copies to my clients manually, (as filters get confused) and ensuring it is the correct client if I have been…

Rather than requesting or sharing the Xero Network key, if we receive an invoice from a supplier that is submitted through Xero .. we should have an option to add the supplier for eInvoicing with a clickable button "Add supplier for eInvoicing in future" .... this way, as a customer, I am in control and opt-in myself rather than administrative burden of requesting / sharing network keys

    Hi everyone, we've released a new send modal for new invoicing in Xero. As part of this update you now have a rich text editor that allows for small formatting changes such as bold, italics, underlining and the ability to insert emojis. 

    You'll also find other improvements like the ability to cc and bcc emails, and have more visibility of your emails and the PDF of the invoice with a preview on the left of the screen. 

    While this is limited to new invoicing at present, we will look into surfacing this to other areas of the product over time. We'll let you know of any further change for this, here. 

  20. atm if a client asks what is included in a figure in the accounts, I can only manually deduce that, or generate a spreadsheet analysing all the Trial Balance into the headings (the tagging screen is quick reference for generating this) but surely it should be possible to run a report.

    Hi Malcolm, returning to your idea here it would be good to get more understanding if there are specific figures or reports your customers are asking about or you'd want to track the make up of?

    Atm it's possible to edit the layout of the Profit & Loss of Balance sheet reports to either show a total of grouped accounts or have these all listed amounts that show the individual accounts within each section.
