Bank Reconciliation - Sort statement lines by most recent date
I always want to reconcile my newest transactions first, as they are freshest in my head. It's actually become pretty maddening not having this feature.

Bank Rules Placeholders
Placeholders for dates in bank rules descriptions for example reconciling monthly payroll and having the month it relates to pull through on the description through a bank rule.

superannuation
Superannuation . Be able to add employee groups to break up superannuation payments as can be done in MYOB. In our practice we have many associations that get funding from multiple groups. Each has an acquittal to be lodged. We use MYOB as wages can be completed in one step. In Xero we have to use journal entries for break downs.

Bill payment reminder alert or emails
When I get a bill, I add it into xero with a due date. I then either schedule the bill for payment on the date or I add a reminder to my calendar to action the bill.
What would be a great feature would be to have an alert message banner maybe within 3 days of the due date that pops up with "Bill due for payment - click here" or even an email notification of an impending bill due - see attached.

NZ Payroll - transition employment basis instead of terminate
It would be great if could change casual employee to permanent without having to terminate the employee first and re-enter all their data and have to remember to delete their email address before adding to them as a new employee. It's especially annoying if they use XeroMe to submit timesheets. Other payroll such as IMS or MYOB don't require employees to be terminated and re-entered if their employment basis changes.

GST Return Layout - Late Claim in a seperate tabThe New GST layout doesn't have a seperate tab for "Late Claims" meaning everytime I have to create a breakdown for a client I have to delete all the other transactions for income & expenses. I can see you can filter by "late claims" but we don't want to have to export and manipulate the data when sending the documents to clients.
Additionally when we do filter the dates don't filter by date because the format is 07-10-2025 instead of 07/10/2025 which isn't recognised by excel as a date and I have to find & replace all the - to / each time, it is very time consuming.GST Return Layout - Ability to filter by date

add sub-projects within a project
adding sub-projects allows within projects. this allows for variations/additional works which are for the same project to be linked/tracked together without having to create a new project just for that item

Toggle default (Show GBP items only) / local currency on Reconciliation / Match
When reconciling, bills from suppliers invariably do not appear automatically as a match. I have to click the Match tab, then click, in my case:
Show GBP items only
(or Show <local currency> items only)If this could either be turned off by default, or allow the user to set a global default of off / on for this toggle, this would dramatically improve reconciliation for users who have bills from suppliers in a foreign currency.

Create draft transactions via API
Bank transaction lines created via API are immediately in AUTHORISED status.
I propose an optional DRAFT status.
A draft transaction is available for reconciliation, but it only becomes authorised at the point that it is reconciled.
This would allow for creating transactions via API but these only actually affecting the company accounts when a human gets in the loop to reconcile it with a real statement line.

Able to chose default Invoices tab
Invoices - Awaiting payment
When clicking on invoices, it would be helpful to be able to select a default invoices tab I would like to land on. This feature is available for Bills and the user is able to select the 'Awaiting payment' tab as a default.

Bank Feed Rules
We use location codes to sperate our transactions by site or (cost centre). I tried to create a bank rule to allow the transaction to be dynamically allocated to an individual location, depending on the location appearing in the transaction description.
I have been told that this does not currently exist.

VAT checker in Contacts
When setting up suppliers in "Contacts" within Xero, it would be great if Xero could perform a VAT check from a link to the HMRC website. There could be a button next to the VAT number box called "Check VAT" and then the supplier's VAT details (as per HMRC) would show.
Furthermore, it would be great if there could be a VAT report that you could run each quarter to check whether all VAT numbers are correct. It might involve a bit more work for the bookkeeper to ensure they set up the supplier correctly in Xero, but it would be a great risk-reduction tool.

Currently there is no facility to file documentation within an employee profile to have this facility would reduce document filing.

Reducing Balances for Payroll Deductions
Most payroll providers (including MYOB and others) already offer reducing balance functionality for deductions, and it would be a huge improvement if Xero did the same.
Why it matters:
Reducing balances remove the need for manual follow-up.
They ensure the correct deduction amount is applied each pay run.
They eliminate the risk of over-deducting, and avoid the admin burden of tracking balances separately.
Example:
If an employee has scissors sharpened for $150, I currently need to set up a recurring $15 deduction, then manually track when to stop it after 10 weeks. With reducing balances, the system would simply reduce the balance each week and automatically stop once paid off.
When you have dozens of employees at different stages of paying off tools, scissors, and other items, manual reminders (like calendar alerts) aren’t practical.
Some days I even consider moving back to MYOB because they already have this feature.

Being able to customise the invoice reminder so it only goes through during business hours and during working days M-F.

Reduce New Invoicing screen clutter
Please reduce the amount of screen clutter. Example shown. This is pointless information and not needed. It interferes with the flow of the already terrible new invoicing. There should be an option to hide this.

Invoicing - Option to add outstanding amounts to subsequent invoices at the bottom.
Could you enhance customer accounts by automatically adding outstanding amounts from previous invoices to the next issued invoice as a separate line item called 'outstanding fees'? This ensures customers can pay the full amount due, not just the current invoice.
