Reporting - Ability to show/hide accounts based on balance
I have voted for the idea "Switch Rules - Notes to Financial Accounts" but would like to also propose an idea that may be of benefit if that one is too complex to implement.
Enable a rule that allows an account to be shown/hidden depending on the balance.
For example - if Accounts Receivable is a credit balance then it will display, if it has a negative balance it is hidden.
That means that the Accounts Receivable account could be added to two schedules in the report, but will only show in one, which should align with switch rules in other reports.I have voted for the idea "Switch Rules - Notes to Financial Accounts" but would like to also propose an idea that may be of benefit if that one is too complex to implement.

With a lot of the reporting teams concentration on elements to redevelop the most vying features from older reports in the new before their removal later this year I want to be open that we don't have this in pour plans at this stage.
We'll start to get a sense of the interest for this here, and let you know if there are any changes.

Xero settings: Option to automatically insert decimal places
Ability to customise how data is entered - decimal places. To speed up data entry the user should be able to have a setting where they can opt to have the decimal place automatically entered. I.e. type in 12345 and the result is 123.45

Bank Rules - Create new Account from a Bank Rule
This feature was included in the old user interface for Bank Rules, and with the new interface that was rolled out, this feature is no longer available. Instead, I'm forced to go to the COA screen to add a new COA code, then refresh my Bank Rules screen to then be able to choose that account. The time this adds, on top of the already manual process to add bank rules, really adds up. I'd love to see this ability again.

Report Templates - Add Top suppliers and Top customers reports
In Xero HQ when we create a New Template for Reports and add reports according to our preference, We are unable to add reports like Top Suppliers and Top customers report in Xero HQ but those reports are available in individual client's organizations.
It would be great if we can add these reports in Xero HQ so it would be easy to generate month end reports from Xero HQ for all the clients.

Contacts - SAP field
SAP Field- ability to add a field for SAP# that is searchable and exportable.
3 votesHi Andrea, if you'd like to have a field to enter your SAP # into you could look to save this as the Item Code for inventory you set up in your org. You can search items from products and services in Xero , and export your inventory items so you'd be able to export all item codes if this is where you save your SAP #.
If you're looking for the step further of being able to scan inventory into the system - this isn't something we're looking to develop for and you can see more on this from the idea here

NZ Payroll: Long Service Leave to accrue each pay run instead of on the employee's anniversary
I would like long service leave to accrue and update the balance each payrun like annual leave does, i.e. leave available to take in advance. rather than waiting for the accrued LSL to be applied on the anniversary date.

NZ Payroll - Allow net pay field to be highlighted in Pay Employees screen
It appears that in the last two weeks (submitted 23/2/2022) Xero rolled out a change to payroll, which possibly has some unforeseen implications.
It used to be that if you were only paying a small number of employees at one time, you could use the summary screen (capture attached) to copy and paste the net pay figure for each employee to your online banking portal to effect the actual payment(rather than exporting to a file, and then importing the file to the online banking which is a little clunky for small number of employees - there doesn't exist the same sort of one click export for this as does with Bill Pay). In the past this was simple, you just select the number in the net pay column and copy-paste. Now it appears that when you try to select the net pay number, the entire row instead acts as a giant hyperlink to that employees pay detail (i believe previously you had to click specifically on the employees name to access this page). This feels like a step backwards, with no benefits, but real disadvantages for some. Just let us know if unclear or this requires further clarification.

1 voteSounds like you're wanting to copy the employees net pay from the pay run overview screen, but it's taking you into their payslip, Tom?
Instead you could download the payslips report by opening the required pay run, clicking 'View Reports'and selecting Payslips - This'll download a PDF with all the employees payslips included. From this, you can copy and paste each employee's net pays into your online banking. 🙂

Banking - Increase character limit on bank reference field
Bank feeds from Bendigo Bank, and I presume all other OSKO payments.is being fed into the reference field. It concatenates the description, payee and reference field.
The problem is the field is now too short with new OSKO payment descriptions, so the reference field is often dropped off making some transactions difficult to match. A simple solution is to make this field longer.7 votes -

PayPal - Import proportion of VAT with feed
As a retail company with many hundreds of transactions each day it is a massive task to properly account for VAT. All our products are VATable inside the UK but we receive many orders from outside the UK which are non-VATable, or from other EU countries where we must charge a different VAT rate for our IOSS return.
PayPal holds details of the VAT that was collected as part of the transaction, but as Xero imports all these hundreds of transactions from PayPal it currently does not import those VAT details. That means we have to look at our other systems to work out which tax bracket to put each and every transaction into. It would be really useful if Xero could import the VAT data (or even just the delivery country code) that is held in PayPal so that the correct VAT treatment could be automatically applied using rules.
Is this a problem that other higher volume retailers are facing or does someone have a solution to this?

Invoices - Enter cents for an amount without inputting decimal point
It would be good if you did not have to enter the decimal place when entering dollar amounts. Just saves 1 extra key stroke but that adds up to a lot of keystrokes
2 votesThanks for your confirmation, Robert. I've just adjusted the title of the idea.
We don't have any plans for this at present but will track the appetite here.
Atm, when entering Expenses or Bills you may find some of the automation through Hubdoc, emailing bills to your org and the ability to enable receipt analysis within Xero expenses help reduce the need to enter these amounts yourself, too.

Reporting - Show all tracking categories even if there is no data in the period reports run
Recent changes to the report layouts when comparing categories means that categories without data no-longer show. It would be great for the user to have the ability to choose whether to include/exclude.
This is particularly relevant when reporting is exported to Excel for customised reports that cannot be developed within Xero. The exported data out of Xero needs to have same column headings so that lookups in Excel continue to work.
The recent change has meant that reports we have already developed within Excel that rely on Xero data no-longer work. And is time consuming to add back in columns in the exported data.Recent changes to the report layouts when comparing categories means that categories without data no-longer show. There aren't any direct plans for adding non used categories back into view but it'd be good to be able to share if there are any specific reports you're commonly using that you'd find this view useful in.

Fixed asset - Create from prepayment
There should be an option to enter a prepayment to/from a Contact as such, that is a prepayment. For now, it has to be entered as an invoice. Creating an invoice also creates HST due/credit and it does not follow tax/HST rules because a prepayment is not a sale.
