AU Payroll - Allow HECS / HELP tax deductions for Labour Hires
Prior to the upgrade, if you were a labour hire firm and had contractors who were not a company but used their TFN, you could select the box to allow additional tax deductions for HELP / HECS debts. With the new Phase 2 STP, Xero have confirmed that if you have labour hire using TFN's and they have a hecs debt you cannot check the box and will need to manually calculate the hecs amount to deduct each payrun. This means that every payrun, for every hecs debt you will need to manually add an amount working through the various HECS thresholds. Given this was a feature before the "upgrade" (read downgrade), one would think it could be transferred over. Xero support have advised they effectively don't care and get on with manually calculating.
You can check the HECS button if you list the labour hire employee as a regular employee, but I have confirmed with the ATO that we still need to report labour hire income separately and not as standard employee wages.
Requesting they bring the function back to be able to have a TFN labour hire employee who (whether Xero likes it or not) have a HECS debt and be able to calculate the correct PAYGW to withhold.

AU Payroll - Search for Employees within a Draft Payrun
One of my clients has hundreds of employees and at present when processing an unscheduled pay run, I have to keep clicking through the pages to find the employee. It would be so much quicker to be able to search for an employee within the Draft Payrun to then select to add.

AU Payroll - Bulk update employee bank account information
Bulk update Bank Statement text in Payslips
Or we can set up Statement text as fixed for every employee rather than the default "WAGES" statement text in Xero2 votes -
Sales Tax Report - View Invoice Number and Reference as separate columns

Invoices | Single click back to drafts
I would LOVE a link back to draft bills & invoices from the approved bill or invoice. When using email to bill and repeating invoices, after approval there is a link to add a new 'whatever'. But there is no single-click option to go straight to drafts to keep processing these. Instead you must click twice to purchases overview and then drafts.
When processing a large queue of draft bills and invoices, this would be a huge time-saver for me, and I'm sure many others.

Dashboard - Show Bank Feed expiry date
Can the bank feed expiry date be shown on the dashboard or perhaps in the bank account screen rectangle for each account. It is a frustrating task to have to repeatedly contact clients to update this .... and worse they tend to blame Xero for the functionality rather than GDPR
4 votesThanks for showing your interest through product ideas. It'd be good to get more understanding of what seeing the expiry date of your bank feed on the dashboard would help you achieve? And, how you feel this will benefit your workflow.

Reconciliation: Remove archived accounts from drop-down menu
I have a number of accounts that are archived. However they still appear in the dropdown options when I reconcile an account. This makes for confusion when selecting accounts.

Depreciation Schedule - Add Page breaks
Page breaks in the depreciation schedule would be great, would allow more flexibility and be in line with the other reports

AU Tax: Pay the ATO directly from the Activity Statement page
The ability to pay the ATO automatically from Xero would be a really handy feature. Similar to the automatic super payment, this would be a huge time saver.

Reporting - Password Protect option for PDF downloads
SureIy this would be a no brainer??
I'd like an option to download PDFs with a password automatically added.
The password could be added in the company setting pages with the option to download "Protected PDF" when you print a report.
This feature seems so simple to create and i'm not sure why it hasn't been thought of.
This would also save us having to do this manually with every report sent to a client.
Please set this up at it would be a great option for bookkeepers and accountants.

Bank Reconciliation - Different colours for Create Spend and Receive money transactions
My suggestion is different colors for New Spend Money and New Receive Money Tab so they are easy to differentiate. Even if the New Receive Money Tab could be a darker tone of the same color, it would really helpful and would still look good.

Sales overview - Add a Sent column onto the Draft tab
1) When creating a draft invoice, and draft invoice is emailed out, it would be good to see from the 'home' page in the 'draft' folder, which invoices have been emailed. This could simply be an icon of an envelope, for example, that shows on the right hand side when the invoice has been emailed (yes even in draft form).
2) When viewing an invoice, a 'previous/back' and 'next' button to move to the next sequential invoice number (either forward or back) would be great, rather than having to back to 'draft' or 'awaiting payment' folder and then selecting next invoice.1) When creating a draft invoice, and draft invoice is emailed out, it would be good to see from the 'home' page in the 'draft' folder, which invoices have been emailed. We try to keep one idea per thread to make it clear for others to know what they're voting for and be able to share this information back with our product teams.
When you say next and back buttons - would this be when only viewing an invoice (not taking any action)? Reason being, is that there are Save and Approve options from the drop down that'd allow you to move onto the next invoice in the list or add a new one - More detail on this here
I'll slightly adjust the title here to reflect your first idea, but are welcome to start another if the current approve and next options are sufficient and we can get a feel for the interest around that separately.

Invoices - Option to create folders for past year invoices
This folders would be to keep each years invoices separate for the customers that still owe from the year before
1 voteHi Sherene, appreciate wanting to easily get a view or segment invoices from previous years. Being open we don't have any plans to add folders for invoices, however you might find the search capability useful for looking up invoices within a specific time period.

Batch Payments - Use cursor arrows to navigate and edit
Currently when editing a batch payment we can only tab across to the next cell, it would be good if we can use the arrow keys to move around and edit instead of using your mouse to get to the cell below, or the previous cell etc.
5 votesWe appreciate how this could be more intuitive. To confirm how this currently works - Within the body of a batch payment you can use Tab to navigate forward through cells, pressing Enter will enable you to edit the cell and then pressing Enter again will confirm the cells contents(highlighted).
When the cell is highlighted you'll be able to use the keyboard arrow keys to navigate up, down and across within the body of your batch payment.

AU Payroll - Director allowance remuneration report
Now that directors fees are considered allowances, they don't show up in the employee remuneration report because that is for OTE only.
I would greatly appreciate being able to include directors on the remuneration report because the board asks for total remuneration on a monthly basis.6 votes -
UK Payroll - Employee Details export in bulk with correct date format
Purpose: to be able to move payroll from one Xero company to another quickly and without errors.
When exporting employee details from payroll in order to bulk upload them onto another company's payroll, it is not possible to do a bulk export. You have to instead individually download each employee. This is fine if there are only 10-20 employees, but any bigger and you are opening yourself up to missing employees and making mistakes. Any other exports currently available do not give all the information needed to then import directly into a new payroll.
Perhaps the main frustration, however, is that the date format for DOBs, start dates, pension enrolment dates, etc on these exports are in mm/dd format, despite ALL other exports (bank reconciliation reports, Gross to net reports, etc) being in dd/mm format. This again means that a large amount of errors are likely to be made, as I only noticed after uploading a few employees. To manually open each employee file, change the dates, and save and then upload is an extremely time consuming task and human error is likely to occur. It also does not make sense to me that Xero would export information that is not in the same format that its own system needs in order to re-import it.

Manual Journals: Allow placeholders in standard manual journals
Placeholders are really useful in repeating manual journal entry - could we please have them in regular manual journals?
Oftentimes it will be necessary to repeat a series of manual entries when realising income in advance as revenue however the amounts will vary so a manual journal is required for each instance.
Being able to have [Month] etc in the narration would make it much faster to populate each entry. [Example: "Revenue realised in [Month]"

History and Notes: Prompt user when there are unsaved changes to notes
Prompt if Changes have not been SAVED
What I would like is, after entering data in the Notes (or Items on Invoice, Purchase Orders etc..) If there are changes to the Invoice/Notes (or any update screen) on the screen BUT if the user does not click SAVE then the changes are lost.
If the invoice/purchase order/notes etc... have had changes and SAVE is not clicked, it would be helpful to have some sort of reminder available that auto prompts you
'Changes have been made do you want to save these?'
or something similar so any work entered, but not SAVED is not lost. This could be a function you could turn on or off on the user settings screen, so it will not be another step for users that do not want this function.
I believe this will save time lost on re-entering data.
