  1. Most businesses use certain payment terms, like NET 30, NET 45, NET 60, NET 90 days. When invoicing businesses with different payment terms, there should be a faster way to calculate the due date, rather than asking Google "45 days from today" or "60 days from today" and entering that as the due date.

It would be great to create pre-defined NET payment terms as part of the Due Date dropdown in Invoices. That way it would instantly adjust the due date based on the payment term selected for that invoice.

Yes, there is a way to set a default…

Hi team, while the pre-defined list of dates aren't selectable options, you can use the date entry shortcuts to quickly calculate the due date based on the Invoice date. For example to select 30 days from the invoice date you'd simple enter +30 or +30d in the due date field.

We have all the shortcuts listed in this Xero Central article

  2. KEYBOARD ACCESS IN ALL FIELDS IS CRITICAL
Xero users know how a keyboard works and I'm sure many find its use preferential to having to continuously move a hand to the mouse to engage dropdown menus. This needs to be available in all areas of Xero.

Hi team, from the payments window when you're on the Account field if you press 'Enter' on your keyboard this will open the field. From here you can type to search and select the bank you'd like.

  3. Would like to be able to select multiple draft bills to review. Then once you have posted the current bill it opens the next one to review and process until all have been processed. Going back to draft bills each time is time consuming.

  4. New Invoicing - Due Date: entering +0 currently records the due date as 7 days from invoice date. This feature is useful when due date is same as invoice date. All other numbers work (eg +5, +6, +7 etc) but +0 does not. Please fix this.

Hi everyone, we appreciate your patience while we worked on developing shortcuts into new invoicing.

We have now released an update and you'll find you can use the same shortcuts you used to in classic such as +0 or 't'. Thanks for all your feedback on this here.

  5. open attached files (especially PDFs) in the current window (same as old invoicing), not in a new tab which is automatically happening with new invoicing.
is frustrating as you now need to go back and forth between tabs if you want to transpose info from the attachment into the invoice.
Much more user friendly the old way with a resize-able/move-able viewing window within the same tab

Hi team, thanks for staying tuned into the idea here for update of files preview. Our team have released a change, and you'll now find when you 'view' a file attached to an invoice this'll now show a side by side view so you can transcribe any detail as needed from the attachment to your invoice. ✨

  6. Ability to shorten a financial year end on Xero without messing up reporting.
E.g. when a company's financial year end is shortened from 30 June to 31 December so there is a 6 month transition period needed.

Sorry we've not updated on this idea sooner.

We've now added the ability for you to create a short transition period (between 1 - 12 months long) when changing the Financial Year End date within your organisations Financial Settings.

To confirm the work in this space - Aligning with the UK basis period reforms we've made a change to Financial settings in Xero, so you can add start and end dates to different periods.

    This change impacts multiple areas of Xero;

    • Fixed assets will draw on this information, to prevent any loss of historic information when your year end changes. Everything will automatically be calculated for you based on the period start and end dates you set in Financial Settings.
    • The same story will apply in Reporting. All historic reports will be protected. And you’ll have accurate comparison periods even across varied financial years.
    • In Xero Tax, you’ll…
  7. We use two tracking category's depending on which country the transaction relates to, the category options are the projects in that country, if a tracking option has been added to the wrong category on an invoice and you need to remove it you can't leave the category blank, on the old invoices and other areas of Xero you have (none) under the category options which you can choose if it is to be blank but this option is not there on the new invoicing

Hey everyone, thanks again for suggesting this. Good news – the new line item grid is live for everyone now.

With this update, getting rid of tracking is way easier. You can just hit backspace and tab through the fields, or we've also popped in a 'No tracking' option in the dropdown. We appreciate your feedback through product ideas – it really helps!

  8. It is most annoying and time consuming to only be able to access half of the inventory items when raising an invoice. Instead one has to look up every item in the second half of the inventory, line by line before you can add it to an invoice. This is a step into the dark ages.

Hi everyone, I'm pleased to share that the new line item grid is now available to all orgs.

We know being able to see more of your inventory items is important and with the new grid we've expanded the number of items that you can see from 50 to 100.

For majority of orgs this means you'll now be able to view your full list of inventory. We understand there are some orgs that have many more items, but want to be honest that we don't intend to increase this amount further. Thank you for all contributions and support you've shared with us, here.

  9. The new Grow subscription only allowing for one employee is really tough for accountants operating in the micro-business space, as many of the small businesses that I have been working to get onto Xero are either married couples or two business partners who need exactly two payroll employees, with no intention to grow beyond that number.

Having to jump from Grow to Comprehensive just to add a payroll user is prohibitive for a lot of my clients, and knowing that this is the case is stopping me from recommending Xero as a product where it would have been a no-brainer…

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us here, community. We know this is important to you and are pleased to share based on feedback we made some changes.

Payroll is now included in all new business plans (Ignite, Grow and Ultimate). You'll be able to pay one person on Ignite, and two people on the Grow plan.

I want to confirm that these changes are now all live and available for you to make use of. See more of this on our blog.

Hi community, we appreciate your ongoing engagement with us through the idea here. We've now released updates to the ‘Contact’ field within new invoicing - With the changes we’ve made, you can now look up and quickly find a contact delivery or billing address as you’ve been requesting. Other improvements we’ve made include; being able to enter more address lines, and an Attention to for each address on the fly.

Thank you for sharing with us through product ideas, here.

  11. NEW INVOICING
Add default bank accounts for adding a payment. Old invoicing automatically brought up your bank accounts. New invoicing-you have to sort through or search your whole chart of accounts for the bank account/s.

  12. When Reconciling a large bank feed It would be good if the page went back to the top so that we did not have to scroll up every time.
At the moment when you get to the bottom and page forward it stays at the bottom of that screen

Hi team, rounding back to this idea and testing, it appears this actually may have been resolved when we released updates to Search and Filter within the Reconcile screen.

Now, when you scroll to the bottom of the page, and navigate between pages of statement lines you'll automatically be taken to the top of the following page.

If this is not the behaviour you're experiencing we'd recommend connecting with our specialists at Xero Support for a closer look in. Thanks!

You can already group by Account Type in the Trial Balance report, Chitrang! 🙂 Simply click the Grouping/Summarising option within the report where you'll see Account type as an option.

  14. Would love to see the Accounting menu split so that there are new menus for Reporting & Bank Accounts. Show under the Accounting menu all the actions (journals, fixed assets, chart of accounts, advanced accounting, plus favourites). Then a separate menu for Reporting - listing the different reporting sections Adviser, Custom, Drafts, Archived etc. plus favourites). And a separate menu for Bank Accounts (reconciliation report, bank accounts, bank rules, etc).

Thanks again for your feedback through the idea here. We appreciate there are many different ways our customers feel menus and ways to navigate Xero features and products would best serve their needs.

There was lots of research behind the top level menus that you now have with Xero's new navigation experience - As requested here you'll find Reporting is now it's own menu. And, while Bank Accounts are within the Accounting menu, you'll find we've added quick options for Bank Rules, through the new Homepage which is coming soon you can quickly access reconciliation reports, manage the account, or enter transactions.

  15. URGENT!!!! The new invoicing is quiet frustrating. It doesn't remember past settings when emailing the invoices. So now I need to remember EVERYTIME I send an invoice to click 'send me a copy', which I know I'm going to forget especially if I'm in a rush.

ANNOYING!!!! There's an added step now to attach a pdf. I now need to click add files then drag the pdf, instead of simply dragging it and clicking to send with invoice or not.

It would be good if the Save & Close button had and 'Email for Approval'. I email invoices (unapproved). Once…

Hi team, recently we have released a new line item grid in invoicing and you will find there are a few updates the team have made to improve visibility. We've optimised the padding, text size and columns width to make this more compact so you can see more detail without the need to scroll.

We value your contributions and thank you for sharing with us through this idea.

  16. Display the item PRODUCT CODE (similar to the old invoicing) - we have a lot of similarly named products, so need to see the product code to differentiate.

Quick turn around on this one, team. Today we've released a change, and you'll now find item code is shown when viewing an invoice with new invoicing. Thank you for your feedback and voting on this idea.

  17. Please can you include an option on the invoices for payment due date -28 days. We have an option for 7 and 14 days but the majority of our invoices are 28 days from invoice date.

This is possible from within the Invoice Settings page, Emily 😊 From here there is an option to set Invoice due date based on days after the invoice date, where you can enter a number anywhere between 0 - 99.

  18. Ability to generate Profit and Loss reports that show each month what the moving annual (12 monthly) total (MAT) is, so that an understanding of trends to income and expenditure items is over time.

Purpose: Users can see the trend behind the immediate or current year number

This should be possible with the ability to add custom Date columns in the reports layout editor, Geoff.

It does require a bit of manual set up, however you could add columns for say 1 Jan - 28 Feb, 1 Jan - 31 March and so forth so you can see the accumulative total across months.

  19. On the classic invoicing, you could type 'I want to see a unicorn!' and this would appear across your screen for a brief moment however the classic invoicing is retiring soon so is it possible to add this also to the new Xero invoicing as well?

It's really nice to see more light hearted ideas like this come through community from time to time. For anyone that was around when we first introduced the unicorn in classic invoicing there is probably some sentiment tied to seeing this inherited in new invoicing, too!

I'm happy to share that we have re-introduced the unicorn in new invoicing 🦄

Now, if you type 'unicorn!' in the Description field and tab or click across to the next field you'll see how we've added this little easter egg back into the mix. We hope to bring a smile back into your day as you're working in Xero 😁

  20. We often get cheques or direct deposits from companies that are covering 5-10 different invoices. CSV functionality would be overkill for what I need.

Right now I have to go into each invoice and mark them all separately as paid, and put a note that cites the total deposit amount so that we can keep track of the bank transactions.

On the customer's invoice page, I would like to be able to click a checkbox button for the invoices that are included on the cheque, and mark them as paid under one transaction.

With this check box functionality, you could…

Hi team, it sounds like batch deposits would meet your needs here. From the Awaiting payments list view you could select up to 50 invoices to batch together as one payment. When the cheque or deposit appears in your account you could then just select the one transaction to reconcile.

While you can only batch 50 invoices at a time, you may like to add your vote and support on this idea, Peter. It's not something we have in planned development atm but if there's any change we'll update you all there.
