UK Payroll - Track the table based DEA Deductions
There is currently an option for a DEA to be table based when setting it up, however this doesn't do any of the calculations for the DEA. Instead, they need to be calculated manually & entered as a fixed amount. There is also no way of keeping track of the amounts deducted until the total has been paid within Xero, this also has to be done manually. This can especially be difficult if the employee's pay varies each period.

Searching in Expenses
It would be good to be able to search the expenses to make sure that duplicated expenses are not submitted. Also it is really difficult to see what the expense was for and what the supplier was. Also it is really difficult to change any i8nformation on an expense as soon as it is marked as paid.
6 votesThanks for sharing your idea here in the forums, Mihaela. While we don't have specific plans for adding a search function in expenses atm, it'd be good to better understand what sort of details of your expenses you'd general want to search in order to identify duplicates? For example contact

Overpayment - Ability to change to Credit Note
Convert Overpayment to Credit Note, or treat Overpayment the same as Credit note.
We have a lot of customers who double pay their invoices and several who would like to see what credit they have on their account as they will order again - so don't bother with a refund.
Creating overpayments seems like the most logical thing to do, but the functionality of overpayments is lacking in every way. There is no way to send a pdf version of an overpayment to a customer except for printing a statement. I've upvoted the suggestion to add printing functionality, but that isn't the only problem with them.
A simple solution might be to convert overpayments to credit notes which are much more functional forms of customer credit.

Bank feed - RHB Malaysia corporate.
Having RHB Malaysia corporate bank account feed in Xero.
1 voteThanks for sharing the bank you'd like us to build a feed with, angel. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.
This isn't something we're developing just atm, but it'll be good to get s sense of the interest from your idea here.

NZ GST - Zero rated GST for asset accounts
At the moment Zero Rated GST can only be applied to Revenue items on the Chart of Accounts. When we deal with a property sale between GST registsred parties, the sale is also zero rated for GST purposes. We need the option to apply the 0% GST rate to asset codes as well as revenue codes. At the moment, we have to do a manual workaround.

AU Payroll - Long Service Leave report to show start date
It would assist us if the Leave Accrued Report could also show the employee's start date. Long Service Leave is only applicable to staff from the 5 or 10 year mark for us in NSW but to ascertain whether staff are eligible for it is requiring external spreadsheets that have to be manually adjusted each month. Xero already has the functionality to enable this so it can't be hard to action.

Delete discontinued tracking categories from reports
It would assist to have discontinued tracking categories no longer showing on drop down menus for reports. We have several categories that are no longer in use but still show up on reporting options.
4 votesThanks for your idea and sharing in the forums here, Rachel.
Consideration would need to be given to how this behaves before and after a report date or date range is set, incase running for an older period that would include transaction lines that were categorised to an archived tracking option.
Being upfront, this isn't something we have any plans around for the time being, but we'll source interest from the community in this here, and share if there are any updates.

Xero accounting app - Fully functional same as website.
It would be nice if the Xero app was fully functional like the website. I have clients that only use tablets and rarely use the website. Making the app identical to the website in feature would make it easier for them to do things
2 votesWe've reviewed your suggestion, and it's now open to the community for support. Please share it with any colleagues who would benefit so they can vote and add their comments. Their feedback will help show how this idea could improve their experience with Xero.

Contact - Add filtering to the list of contacts
We are a small business that has just started using Xero, but already have 400+ contacts. Would love the ability to filter the contact list. For example, filter by country (show me all contacts in the UK, USA, etc.), filter by creation date or updated date (show me all contacts created in the last 30 days), etc.
There is no way to sort and filter the contacts, just endless scrolling through a long list.
Functionality feature that may not be critical to business operations, but it would make life a bit easier!
5 votesHi Brian, appreciate it's not a direct filter option like you're asking here however if you often need to filter by say country or another aspect of your Contact perhaps you may consider creating Contact groups? This way you'd be able to click on the group within contacts when you need.
Being open we don't have any direct plans for adding more filtering to the Contact list atm, but we'll continue to track your idea here and share if there are any plans made.

Bank Reconciliation - Add a new account code while reconciling
I wish you could add a new GL account to the COA right from the "create" tab of the match transactions page instead of having to click through to "add details" to access that function
4 votesHi, thanks for submitting this idea. As you mentioned, the Create option doesn't currently have a way to add a new account into your Chart of Accounts.
We appreciate you taking time to let us know how we could improve Xero for you, and your feedback will soon be reviewed by our Community team, and in the meantime this can begin to build support with votes from other community members.

Chart of accounts - Ability to set billable expense based on account
The ability to automate billable expense assignment by GL code. If you code to a certain GL code you want it assigned automatically as a billable expense for a certain customer. This helps with intercompany on-charges.
3 votesInteresting way of considering how this feature could work, Theresa.
It'd be good to see if others in the community would find this workflow useful to them as well. We'll keep an eye on the support for this here.

Statements - Record additional notes sent with statement.
Sending a statement with additional notes in the email. Is there a way to keep record of the additional notes. At the moment you only see under the contact's history and notes that a statement has been sent, but there is no record of the notes that was sent with the statement

Dashboard - Remove the "Loading your transactions" message
Right now, the dashboard shows "Loading your transactions" for bank accounts far too often and for far too long. The dashboard should always show the current state of the user's accounts, not what is essentially an indeterminate progress bar. It would be more user-friendly to remove the message entirely because it doesn't give users any actionable information. If new transactions come in while the user is doing things, simply update the dashboard to indicate that there are new transactions to reconcile, even if the user just finished reconciling what was there before.
1 voteHi Adam, thanks for sharing how we could improve your experience when working in Xero.

UK Payroll - Ability to add bespoke pay frequencies such as 445
Add an additional pay frequency of 4-4-5 which is a very common pay frequency in the UK for service based businesses with hourly payrolls. Payroll is process in 4 week, 4 week and 5 week intervals over a year meaning essentially 4 x quarters of 13 weeks.

Batch Payments - Export file in a Santander-compatible format
The repsonse to my support case was to be told to post the bug here... seems a weird request, but sure...
"The best way to get our product team to consider this would be to create a new product Idea on this, which is submitted to our product team who then go ahead and make changed based in priority."The santander batch file does not follow the santander format. In the past Santander used to accept the file anyway but they have now started rejecting it.
Bills > Make Payment > Pay from (santander), Method = Create Payment File
Batch Payment > Export Batch File > "Santander Connect BACS payments"
A file is generated (date).TXT with content like this:
PAYMENT,HEADER,25112024,,1
PAYMENT,MULTIBACS,09066612345678,mysupplier,401904,12345678,214.60,25112024,paymentref
PAYMENT,TRAILER,,The import fails on Santander with message: Invalid Record Total information.
Modifying the file to include the total value of all transactions and the number of transactions solves this problem. This file works:
PAYMENT,HEADER,25112024,,1
PAYMENT,MULTIBACS,09066612345678,mysupplier,401904,12345678,214.60,25112024,paymentref
PAYMENT,TRAILER,214.60,1note after the trailer 214.60 = total and 1 = number of transaction lines in this file.
See also: I've attached the Santander specification for the file format. See page 3, reference to column C and Column D.

Cash Coding - Disable "Save & Reconcile All' button if nothing is ticked
Perhaps it's a bug but, while using cash coding /fast coding of a bank account, if nothing is ticked, I can still click 'Save & Reconcile all', which I have done by mistake on 2 occasions, causing panic and painstaking efforts to find out what had been coded and undo it (it was many things that were not meant to use the bank rule or needed further details) EG on the cash code screen , transactions that match bank rule are prefilled, which is great, but does not mean they are ready, so I should only be able to click "Save and Reconcile all" if I've actually ticked something so that I know what has been reconciled. It's particularly troublesome for bank accounts with many unreconciled transactions where one may need to scroll through the list where there may be dozens of prefilled transactions.

Bank Rec - Logos for transactions
It would be great if Xero allowed businesses to display logos in transaction details, similar to how many banks are now doing. This would make records more visually clear and easier to identify at a glance.
1 voteHi Ahmed, thanks for putting this idea forward!! This is not something we are pursuing at this time but keep an eye out on our Xero Blog to see upcoming improvements and additions, it may be something we do in the future ;)
