Xero Tax (UK) - Aligning sole trade accounts expense categories to mirror tax return
It seems we can only class expenses within the profit & loss as staff costs or other charges. Ideally the breakdown should match the tax return.

New Invoicing - add "Hide invoice summary in email" option
Despite several separate requests on this forum, New Invoicing's email still begins with an invoice summary, unlike Classic Invoicing.
For us, relationship and communication are more important than asking for payment so Classic Invoicing's email is perfectly set up with our message first and the invoice following.
New Invoicing's email reverses this with the money part writ large at the top.
Andrew Chadwick described it better than I can in the post linked below. The idea has been marked as Delivered but, respectfully, it hasn't been. His and my points still stand.

UK Tax - Vat number on Vat Tab
Please show the VAT number on the VAT page. At the moment either need to go via the Financial settings or drill into a VAT return to see the VAT registration number. Would be good if quickly visible on the VAT page

Xero Accounting app - Send remittance advice
Add the ability to send remittance advice from the mobile app.
I find do most of my nightly accounting on the couch in my living room with this app - brilliant - but still have to go into the office just to do the remittance! Annoying.
Couldn’t we just do it from the app please?
2 votesHi, just a quick update on this.
Although the mobile app doesn't have this feature right now, feel free to share this idea with any colleagues that this could also benefit. They can add their votes and comments about how this would help them, too.

JAX - Import Supplier Bills
I would like to be able to drag and drop supplier invoices as PDFs into the JAX chat window as attachments.
JAX should allow me to include additional prompts before processing the invoice.
For example, how to handle different situations such as shipping and taxes listed in the supplier invoice.
It would also be great if JAX could support currency conversion.
For example:
- Please import these bills and update the supplier contact details.
- Assume the bills are tax exclusive.
- Assume that the amounts on the invoice are MXN pesos and convert these to USD assuming the following USD exchange rate.
Once I submit the prompt including attachments, the draft bills should be created for me and automatically attach the supplier invoice PDF to the draft bill.
This would be a fantastic timesaver!

3 votesAppreciate you separating out the different ideas you have for JAX on the site here, Mark. This has also been shared back with our team.
We'll begin to track the interest from the community in being able to use JAX to import supplier bills here.
In the meantime you may find the Upload feature in Bills handy for this sort of entry - however just to note it doesn't support currency conversion atm so will still require manually updating to reflect the correct currency.

Custom Reports - Include Balance sheet accounts to report movements
Hey - when making a custom report it would be really useful to be able to show the movement in balance sheet codes. For example, when preparing our month end summary we can't bring in the capitalised wages cost automatically because it brings in the cumulative balance, rather than the balance for the period. To be honest it's crazy to me that this doesn't exist, but would be great if it could!
3 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Idea's, Ryan. We appreciate you taking your time to share changes that would be most meaningful to you.
Being open, we don't have any current plans for changing the Custom report behaviour but we'll continue to track the interest through your idea here and will update if there is any changes to share.

Invoicing - Include PDF attachment when emailing invoice
When Xero are emailing out their invoices please can you go back to attaching the invoices as a pdf as it quicker to be able to forward them rather than having to sign in and save them as draft, especially when you are having to do loads for clients.
53 votesThanks for sharing back on this, everyone. We'd like to confirm the way the options works now when sending in new invoicing - This is triggered by previous behaviour.
So, when you send using new invoicing, the selection for 'Attach PDF' is driven by the last invoice you sent. If the last selection was unticked the next invoice you send will automatically be unticked, and vice versa.
What's worth noting is that this is a browser based setting. For example if you change computers or browsers your setting will revert to default where both options are unticked. As you'll see from my recent update on this similar idea this is something we may explore further down the line but we don't have any immediate changed planned for.
We also appreciate your feedback relating to where a customer's taken when clicking Review and pay. Our team have done a lot of research and testing around this flow - finding that businesses that have a payment service attached are likely to get paid faster, along with this taking customers directly to the payment screen has increased the rate at which businesses receive payment.
While it's only shown for some users that have payment services set up at present, we're looking to roll this change out wider to all invoices. We know it can take a bit of getting used to the change but believe that many people will quickly grow familiar with this.

Having the ability to upload invoices in the same manner as the recently introduced bill upload would be great addition for those users who run industry POS software that generates sales their invoices and stock and ordering management.

Invoicing | Contact - Default address based on GPS
Hi,
My business often delivers the same or similar services to repeat customers. It would be useful if Xero could default the contact address based on GPS Location, and then even propose default invoice items and pricing to make the invoicing process easier. This reduces the risk of invoicing mistakes and adds efficiency into the process for invoice creation. Also helps with contact payment process improvement.2 votesHey Nathan, thanks for sharing this idea. Using GPS to automatically fill in a contact’s address would save you time and make invoicing on the go much smoother.
It’s a smart way to reduce manual entry and help keep addresses accurate.
This feature is now in Gaining Support. If you think it’d be useful, please add your vote or comment. Hearing from all of you helps our product team understand what matters most.
Keep an eye on this thread for any updates.

Invoices - Prevent sales invoice lines being posted to Overhead or Direct Costs nominal account codes
A number of users mistakenly post lines on their sales invoices to expense nominal codes, for example when recharging their mileage to a customer they credit this to Motor Vehicle Expenses instead of using their correct Sales account code.
Most other accounts/bookkeeping packages prevent this by default by only allowing sales invoices to be posted to sales nominal codes. Xero however allows sales to go to virtually any nominal account of the user's choosing, leading to this error cropping up quite often.
Could we have a way to restrict sales invoices only being posted to sales nominal account codes?

Report - Option to remove account codes when publishing
Remove all account codes check box upon financial statement publishing
We need this check box added when we publish our EOFY financial statements - a similar box already exists to remove all decimal places yet we have to manually go to the trading statement, income statement, balance sheet and equity accounts and manually turn off account codes on each page.
A simple box to remove all account codes when publishing just like the decimal place box would be fantastic
Please fix this

Invoicing - Adjust 28 days conflict for 30 day suppliers in February
In February this year, all suplier invoices that were supposed to be marked 30 days, got moved to due in March and not end Feb due to the 28 days, This needs to be changed as an exception as there will never be 30 days in Feb.

Bank Reconciliation - Add a column in the bank statement tab that show the Account the transactions are coded to.
This will assist when coding transactions and/ or reviewing transactions without having to manually click into each individual transaction.

Chart of Accounts - Export to include organisation name
I’ve noticed that when we download reports from Xero in Excel, the file name usually includes the company name. However, in the case of exporting the Chart of Accounts, the exported Excel file is missing the company name.
Could you please inform the development team to ensure that the company name is included in the file name when exporting the Chart of Accounts in Excel or PDF?
Thanks for your support!

Bills - Awaiting payment bill highlight in a different colour.
Hi Xero,
It would be great if the status of bills/invoices that are partially paid could be highlighted in a different color and labeled as 'PARTIALLY PAID' or something similar.3 votes -
Expense Claims - Edit after it has been paid
It would be good if you could edit some fields in an expense after it has been paid, without having to undo the payment and redo. It would be the the same as for Bills where you can edit some fields after they have been paid.
We pay our bills in batches so to undo a payment means you have to undo a lot of payments and redo.
The fields we would like to edit (like a tracking category, or unassigning an expense as billable) do not affect the payment details.11 votes -
Account Transactions Report - Show all categories when grouped by tracking
Reports eg Transaction reports, should be able to be summarised by tracking category. Currently if a bank transaction is spread across a number of tracking categories, the transaction report will report this as 'multiple categories'. This is very unhelpful.
1 voteAppreciate what you're asking here, Simon. However when grouped or summarised by tracking and a bank transaction has multiple lines that are coded to different categories its not possible to show these all on the report.
On the flip side of this, if you run the report on a Grouped by basis you'll be able to see the transactions related to the multiple categories and can drill into the transaction to view the detail.
Alternatively, adding a Related account column to the report you'll be able to see the account the transaction is coded to. Then, running the report for the related accounts e.g Sales would give you the line by line breakdown so you can view each tracking option the transaction has been allocated to.

New Invoicing - one click tracking fill from contact default
On classic invoicing, when you click the account category space or the tracking category it would fill in from the contact default, or account default or some default. But on new invoicing it only fills in if you tab.
11 votesThanks for the added detail, Becky. This is good to know when sharing back with the team. While this may be something we look closer at down the line, I want to be open that we don't have direct change planned in the near term.
Understand it's a few more clicks at present, potentially to save tabbing 8 time clicking on the Tax Rate column and then tabbing once may save a little time atm. Completely get it's not a resolve though.
Account Team - Is it possible that this would be when you're copying an invoice to a new draft invoice? If so, and you select the same Contact defaults aren't automatically applied and you'd need to remove and re-add the contact on the new draft invoice to trigger defaults to be applied. Otherwise, I'd recommend raising a case with our team of specialists for a closer look as to why these aren't pulling through.

Credit Note Discount
Currently there is no discount field on the credit note form which creates a fundamental flaw in the xero system. If you look at the attached invoice report you will notice that all credit note entries have no amounts in the discount column even though they all have discount. This overstates the discount amount when you calculate the total discounts because there are no discount credit amounts to correct the discount. We recommend adding a discount section to the credit notes form to correct this as the report is incorrect without this.
