New invoicing - Use persons name from Contact record (rather than contact name)
We would like to see customers contact person's name appearing on the invoice we send. One customer can have different people/contacts for different projects/invoices. Currently we can only pull out the PRIMARY contact's name to the invoice, which means if we would like to add a different name, we have to REMERMBER to edit customer's primary contact to a different person. It is very time consuming and easy to forget too.
Is there any ways we could simply add a contact person against each invoice instead of against each customer? It could be any extra fields we can use, even a comment field. But it seems there are very limited fields we can add to the invoice.
Currently we are using the extra invoice line's description to add the contact's name. But it is time very consuming, as we have to write down something like "Contact Name: *** ***" to make it meaningful.
Please note a feature previously available in classic invoicing under the 'Attention to' field is not ideal for our situation. As our customers often require the "Attention to" to be "Accounts Payable", and contact person is normally the project manager. We would like to see customers contact person's name appearing on the invoice we send. NZ Payroll - Turn off notification for employee bank accounts change
There needs to be a feature to turn off automatic notifications when an employee changes their bank account,
Every time this changes in our system our Accountant gets an email.
Apparently there is currently no way to turn this feature off.

Bills - Enter Tax Amount instead of calculating from a tax rate
Enable tax AMOUNT instead of the rigid tax rate in Bills.
If you consider a Zoom phone bill, there are 3 different taxes that apply to the bill (1 Federal + 2 City). Tax rates simply DON'T WORK, Xero is too rigid.
Why not offer a simple tax AMOUNT box where we can type a USD amount, instead of forcing some tax rate?
And it's exactly the same for INVOICES.
The ability to set a tax AMOUNT rather than a tax rate is indispensable.1 vote -
New Bills - Feedback
A few things I've noticed that annoy me that I think could be tweaked;
Duplicate bills screen is a complete waste of time in its current state. Either change the parameters for what flags as a duplicate (ie - if it's the same amount, it should also be the same date, or check for duplicate reference numbers attached to the same supplier). Also give the option to ignore all duplicates from certain suppliers or if something appears, an option to never remind for this supplier & amount again.
Also there's a button to provide feedback that doesn't work. The new layout of the "view/files" is clunky - I like the idea of it in theory but there's far too much white space to actually be useable. The old way of viewing files just flowed better without feeling too disruptive.
Under the old bills, when I was going through and selecting multiple, if I accidentally clicked off the checkbox and opened a bill, I could use the "back" button in my browser, and my selection would still be there. Under this new layout, when I do this, I navigate back, see my selection for about 1 second then watch it all un-highlight, and I have to go back through and select all 90+ invoices again. Super frustrating. Is it possible to either revert back to the old way of retaining previous selections, or making it so that any click on that lefthand side will select the checkbox rather than opening the bill? I notice if you hover over the contact or reference it underlines those details, so maybe make them the link to open the bill, rather than the entire box?

Nab BookKeeper Intergrations
Intergrating with Nab Bookkeeper
1 voteHi Zachary, appreciate you sharing your feedback on how you'd find Xero even more powerful for your business.
Being upfront we don't typically develop integrations ourselves. However we have a Developer Centre where interested parties can get information if they'd like to develop an integration with Xero.
I'd recommend connecting with Nab bookKeeper to see if this is something they'd be interested in building and you're welcome to share the link above.

New invoicing | Email template - show as tax inclusive
EMAIL DESCRIPTION OF INVOICE-SHOW GST INCLUSIVE PRICE-When selected "Include action to online and detail summary" for the email template, the email that is sent shows a description of the attachment (invoice) in the body of the email, but it has each item GST EXEMPT then the GST is listed at very bottom. It iss very confusing for some customers.

Xero Projects - Show Supplier Name for un allocated expenses
Currently Unallocated Expenses in Xero projects just show the item line description Which can make assigning to an estimated expense difficult especially when you have "Delivery Charges" I propose a change so that once an expense is allocated to a project and falls into the unassigned it shows the name of the supplier

AU Payroll - Reinstate order of payroll activity summary report
Sometime in the last week, the order in which data is presented in the Payroll Activity Summary report has changed from
- Earnings
- Tax
- Super
- Net payable
- Actual paid
to
- Earnings
- Net payable
- Actual paid
- Super
- TaxPut it back, please, it makes no sense to have something other than Wages less Tax equals Payable. Also reinstate the highlighted total lines in this report and in the Payroll Employee Summary, I'm ashamed to send this to my client with their IAS, it's not readable enough.
The two screenshots I've attached are from two different clients, but the March one was created 1st May 2024 and the April one on 7th May 2024.

Cash coding - Apply existing rule
In cash coding you can choose to set a bank rule. I think it would be nice to be able to choose an existing bank rule to add to. I.e. we have a meals expense rule that has a few restaurants selected. It would be nice to add additional restaurants to the existing meals expense rule instead of creating a new one.
2 votesAppreciate not exactly what you're asking here, Christanne - However, it may be worth reviewing the criteria of your existing rule to see if there's a small change that could be made so it's suggested for a broader range of transactions?

Aged Receivables - Include credit limit
We would like to see the credit limits included in the Aged Receivables Details, as well as in the Summary. This way, when we are working with detailed reports, it will be easy to see if a customer has exceeded their limit without having to run a separate report.
The amount could be placed as an extra column on the total amount of each client in the report.7 votes -
Invoicing - Sending Invoices by SMS
ADD SMS OPTION TO SEND INVOICE VIA SMS. LOT OF PEOPLE SEND VIA IPHONE OR IPAD ECT
27 votesHi all, we wanted to share an update for our US customers that sending invoices via SMS is now available! We have just released this functionality and you can use the same Xero Central article as shared in the last update to understand the in's & out's of how this works. After this release we will be working on delivering this to the UK and NZ markets. As mentioned initially this is limited to the Stripe payment service but we will also be expanding this other payment services down the line.

Billable Expenses - Add Project Billable Expenses to Draft Invoices
Please implement a feature allowing users to add billable expenses assigned to Projects directly to an existing draft invoice.
Currently, users can only add billable expenses directly to a draft invoice if the expense is assigned to a Customer. When expenses are assigned to a Project, they can only be invoiced through Projects. This causes issues when an expense assigned to a Project is has been missed, and needs to be added to the draft invoice. The current workaround requires deleting the draft invoice and starting the invoicing process again, which is time-consuming and inefficient.

NZ Tax - IR3 Individual Tax Return option for end users
I am a sole trader. I started using Xero to see how it helped with my taxes. The road has been... rocky. Largely because Xero largely ignores soletraders and their specific needs.
For instance, Xero has no IR3 reports (NZ IRD) set up that we can use.
And we can't have depreciation amounts at the same time as accounts in a report.
We also can't limit which accounts appear in a report.
For me, as a sole trader, I have wound up with personal and business expenses and income mixed in my bank accounts. I have also created personal accounts that let me categorise my personal expenses in accounts that I have specifically setup so that they don't get mixed into my business information.
Previously to Xero, I used a bank account importer, and a spreadsheet for 20 years as a sole trader. Worked fine, if not very elegant.
Now I find that in order to submit my IR3 return, I can get various pieces of information out of Xero, which I then type into my IR3 return spreadsheet.
There's no way of getting this specific information out of Xero as a report.
PLEASE, PLEASE just give us the ability to get our specific information out in one go.
An IR3 report (that we can adjust) would be a good start.
But it definately needs the ability to limit which accounts are appearing in that report.
